Pricey but reliable & somewhat weird. So I have mixed feelings. I'm paying considerably more for service than when I began with them towards the end of 2015. To start, I got what seemed like a very good price. After a year it rose somewhat. After two years it shot-up like Jack's beanstalk. I eliminated the DVR service & cut back my broadband to a lesser speed, to limit the price increase, which was still a lot anyway. But it's always on. I have a DirecTV dish in front of my house from a prior occupant. Maybe some day I'll switch to it for TV & just keep Armstrong for internet, But I know that with DirecTV, the slightest rain will disrupt the signal. Armstrong, has been nearly flawless. There are some channels I wish they offered & a whole bunch I could live without, but that's the same with any cable TV provider. What's weird, at least to me, are their "packages" or bundles of channels. I have an HD-pack that includes an assortment of certain channels in HD, which is sort of fine. There's also a Variety-pack that I don't have that costs twice as much as the HD-pack. The Variiety-pack is also a variety of un-related channels, such as kids channels & sports channels. At the time of this writing, I wish I had FoxSports2 for the Women's World Cup Soccer Games, but that's part of the Variety-pack, 90% of which I'll never watch. My history with other providers is more focused bundles, such as News & Sports pack, Movies pack etc. Armstrong seems to pick assorted random channells & combine them in packages, which may be their strategy to get a subscriber to have to buy more bundles to get all the channels they really want. Their customer service is decent. It's also all USA-based, which makes talking to them easier than with foreigners for technical issues like I've experienced with DirecTV. When needed, I've never had a problem getting someone out to the house & there's never been an extra fee for any on-site visit. I've also had no billing issues (except the price, which is a different issue). There's another local cable/internet provider I could join here, but their internet speed offerings don't compare to Armstrong & though they offer a better selection of TV channels, the internet has become more important than the TV at this point. So, I'm living with Armstrong, somewhat begrudgingly. (NOTE: I'd put here what I'm paying, but there will likely be another price increase soon, so there's no point) read more

Horrible! My daughter had to use them while in college because they were the only cable option in the area. If there were options, this would not have been the choice. They rip college students off with high rates and charges for everything and anything you get. When my daughter left school, she returned all the components required. They started sending her letters stating that one of the pieces was not returned. She had her landlord go to the apartment and verify that nothing was left behind. She called Armstrong and told them that she mailed EVERYTHING back to them. She continued to get letters harassing her that they would be charging her for this component even though she returned it. My daughter then got a letter stating that since she never contacted them (which she did), that they were going to take her to court over this! She called Armstrong again and told them that she was not paying for something she returned and was going to report them for harassing letters. They said they would 'double check' to see if they could find the piece. Guess what?? They found it with everything else she returned! These people are trying to scam these kids. If she would not have been assertive enough to stand her ground, she would have probably paid the $148 they threatened her for. I'm sure she would have never gotten that money back either when they 'found' this part. We did some research and found that she is not the only college student at her college that they did this to. Total rip-offs! If there is a way to find another cable/internet company, do it! read more

Internet has been out a week. They come friday.change 1 wire and it's been out since 5 min after he left. Called and they said it was in the area an outage. I've had service for about 6 months now. About 1 week ago, NewsMax recordings stopped playing (V636-404). Tech Support tells me they are aware of the problem and working on it. Polite version of "sux to be you". Recordings work for CNN and Fox. I do not like being blown off. read more

They have the worst website. Website takes several "minutes" to load if you can get it to load at all. They make it nearly impossible to pay your bill. They don't take payments at their local office and the website doesn't load. Very inconvenient. The caller ID on my tv doesn't work and after showing up five times they just ignore me. we have a business account with them. the credit card on file was expiring and we call to change it. they needed a 4 digit pin to access the file that we had set up years ago and couldn't remember it. They cant do anything without that 4 digit PIN which they let me guess 25 times without cutting me off. Tried to give them our EIN, SSN anything that would help us identify ourselves to no avail. Then tried to pay over the phone so we dont get cut off, they wouldn't accept Amex cards. Highly archaic company with no regard for customer service. The absolute worst service we have ever had. We had people over for the Super Bowl and the entire game it glitched and the sound was off. This has been going on for almost a year. The biggest game of the year and we couldn't watch it because of the screen locking up. we rebooted the system to no avail. pick another service that cheaper and more reliable. Armstrong Cable is a great example of what happens when you allow a monopoly to take over a region for a vital service. There are no other reliable high-speed internet options for a modern home in this region north of Pittsburgh. As a result, you end up paying 30%-50% more per month than you would in a city like Pittsburgh where multiple companies have to compete for your business. Also, monopolies don't care about their customers or the level of service that they deliver because they are fully aware that you need to buy the service from them or have zero reliable internet. I work from home so I am quite aware of the frequent outages that some people who aren't home nearly as much might fail to notice. When I first signed up they had the most outrageous bandwidth caps, barely enough to even watch Netflix movies without having to pay HUGE overage fees on top of service that already costs twice as much as it does in the city. They've since updated their bandwidth caps with more realistic usage limits. That's how they earned a single star in this review. That and the fact that you can't give them zero. read more

Even supervisors are no help nor do they seem to care. In total agreement with the other customers - they give you a decent price for a package deal then over charge you to make up for lost monies. I have home phone and internet through Armstrong. If my internet doesn't work, then the phone service doesn't work. It seems almost EVERY holiday our service is either out or in and out several times a day. Last Christmas, it was off and on all day. Yesterday, July 4th, it was off and on several times. I had a house full of people and it was raining so being outside wasn't really an option. The night of the Superbowl, the same, off and on constantly. We now use DirecTV streaming to watch tv. Years ago when we did have Armstrong TV, all that needed done was to turn it on 'at the pole'. (Previous homeowners had all cables installed and ready to go.) It seemed to be taking the tech too long to come back downstairs. I went up to check on things (heard zero movement) and he was sitting on my bed!!! I should have reported it but let it go. I'll be calling to check into Verizon's services because paying for something that is spotty at best, is just a waste of money. read more

I just tried to cancel my business internet with Armstrong Cable at my house which I had for over three years for a home based business. I work in my house and got the business internet because I wanted a business account. Armstrong said it auto renewed. They want to charge me $5,608.90 to cancel out the business internet out of my home. This is not a typo $5,608.90 to cancel the service. This is unreal to charge someone this much for cancellation. I was already paying a high monthly rate $324.74 monthly. Now I want to cancel the service because the internet was always slow and lagging. My TV was even having issues streaming video. I transferred service for cable and internet services when I moved in December, 2022. since then I have had continuing problems with shows not recording, not being able to watch shows that did record, internet interruption, losing tv viewing services, in addition to having to call Armstrong weekly and often times daily to report these problems because as I was informed by Armstrong employees, if you don't call us we don't know your service is faulty. Armstrong would offer $5 or $10 "goodwill" credits, despite the fact that I'm paying about $230 a month for service I'm not getting and haven't been getting since December, 2022 and the problems have not been corrected. One of their supervisors asked me what I want to see happen. Seriously, isn't it obvious that I want to get the service I'm pay for without problems and without having to call daily to report problems and to be fairly credited for the service I'm not getting. After I finally got all the bogus charges dropped, they added on $32.50 for my "final bill, even though I have a receipt from paying this bill. Whatever, I'll pay the $32 just to never have to think about this dreadful, unorganized, garbage company ever again. But, the only way to pay my bill is by calling their collections number. Unfortunately, this number disconnects after a minute. I have called 17 times. Today, I received a letter from their lawyer threatening to turn my "debt" over to a collection agency. I have had numerous problems in the past and Armstrong insisted that they need to come to our house to fix them and most times did not fix them. We had a problem a few months ago and requested a new cable box but they would not let us pick one up so we could install it ourselves. They still insist on this in the middle of the covid 19 pandemic that has gotten really bad lately. We figured out how to fix it ourselves by resetting the cable box. I really don't understand why they want to send someone to our home. We are both at ages of concern for someone visiting our house. We have had a few arguments with them-they need to get with the times and try to fix things remotely or allow the customer to do it. read more

The only thing I download and he downloads is game updates, but they take forever because of Armstrong. Terrible customer service, and they know it, but don't care. I have WI-FI through them (cancelled cable because it was over $200 for basic cable). If your smart TV is more than a few feet from a pod you can't stream anything (2 pods are supposed to cover the entire house, I have a small cottage and can only use 2 tvs that are right next to the pod). Even their own app can't find their own pods so I can't connect a printer, phone or anything else that needs WI-FI. Customer service is only available until 4pm, so if anything happens after that you are SOL. If you call during business hours prepare for a 2-3 hr wait, just to be told that a tech will have to come out because they can't solve issues over the phone. The techs are scheduled 2-3 was out, so you end up paying for services you can't use. This is a truly horrible company that knows it is going to go out of business and seems to be squeezing every last cent out of customers before they go bankrupt. Armstrong started a HVAC company and is investing all of their money into that, and ignoring the cable/WI-Fi. Evil people read more

The mandatory up grade. I called to schedule the installation and got an appointment. The service tech couldn't do it because the new cable needs buried in the yard and he doesn't do that. Schedule tech number 2. He buried the cable but that's all he does so schedule tech 3. he come but couldn't do the job because the cable needs splice at the utility pole and he doesn't do that. Call tech 4. He made the splice on the pole but that's all he does. Need to call another tech. Visit by tech number 5. He came to check the installed cable for a proper signal strength. Good signal but that's all he does. He doesn't do installations. visit by tech number 6, we are finally getting somewhere. He will do the installation inside but he doesn't do the required splice at the terminal box on the outside of the house. Call tech number 7. Number 7 makes the splice and leaves, tech number 6 completes the installation. Everything is working but the set top box doesn't always connect to get a picture. Sometimes I have to try multiple times before it works so I request a new set top box to replace the 15 year old model. He can't give me the same kind of box because it is being discontinued so I have to up grade to the newer model. I do, He installs and leaves. NOW I have a new remote but can no longer get ON DEMAND. I call Armstrong. To get ON DEMAND I need to up grade my service and get a different set top box that costs more. So just to be where I was before the up grade I have to spend more money every month and the cable companies wonder why people are cutting the cable. I'M NEXT. read more

I despise how Armstrong has a monopoly on internet service in the Butler Area and think that it's laughable that the internet is called "Armstrong Zoom". It should be called "Armstrong Crawl", because it's the slowest and most unreliable internet I've ever had. I am constantly unplugging my WiFi router and I when I call for help, I typically don't get any. I pay a premium for what should be fast internet and reliable internet, but I rarely get it. Friday night, no cable or tv. Told someone will call, was on business call on the other line, tried to put business call on hold to answer, they already hung up, and left no message. I had to call HQ again, go through all that, then they say he went to the next place, you have to wait until morning. We pay for corporation speed, the phone guy was condescending said, "Can you leave messages when calling if someone's on the other line?", as if I made it up that the tech didn't leave a voicemail. Also, he pointed out my exact internet, yes, you're one level above regular. His point? As if to say there is a higher one than our speed that we pay extra for, being condescending again? We worked all week to no cable or tv on a Friday night. I understand techs want to call it a day, you guys steal enough money, and jave such a large area, why don't you have a later shift running at night? Like their cable service, I only have them because there is no other option. It is overpriced compared to companies such as Comcast or Verizon, their speeds are slower than advertised, and the service is spotty at best. Plus, they have usage caps. read more

One wire 1 possibility this is the option you get with this company it cost more a lot of money if you want to play Pc games or Xbox ps it doesn't matter the Internet is always terrible if more than one person is online and it takes money away from everyone no break from price we actually had to sacrifice our cable for Internet and it's not worth it anymore we can't even use Netflix because the Internet is monitored so the second they see you go over the amount they will tax you for every kilobyte you use the workers I've talked with also agree even living around here they get no slack not even a better wage the cable is standard 80 channels at least but than theirs channels you have to buy individually my experience is over 17 years now and that's how long I've lived here no one changed it or switched it or anything the only thing they've changed is cable box and modems it does take a two days on average to schedule an appointment which would be good if the entire county their under wasn't in a rural area. read more

Armstrongs Internet is so slow in the evening that amazon prime instant video won't even load. They admit that it is a problem but claim they are unable to fix it. If you live in the city of butler I would strongly suggest going with direct tv and the phone company for Internet. read more

This company is a joke! They also lie. I got reeled in over a low price and I did my homework. The guy I talked to told me my bill for internet would be $25.95 for 1yr. with one year contract and that iI had to hold a 2 year with them. I said no prob, until month 3, I get extra billed for using too much internet which was a lie because no one was home enough to use too much and then they said they could take it off as a one time courtesy, how nice huh. but my six months through my bill is $54.95 and I am explained now they only do 6 month subscriptions, no 1 or 2 year contracts exists. This is the 2nd time I've gone thru this company and each time they've not only proven to disappoint but that they are not trustworthy and they make things up to get customers. I got rid of them over double billing years ago and now I'm doing it again. Come to find with other people I have talked to about this, the double billing and lies is what their complaint was about as well and why they got rid of them too. read more
