Because the school bus would pass and my internet would have already gone out, or it is very close to going out. Every. Single. Day. They "upgraded" the internet. I would give a - Zero if I could. We have had nothing but trouble since they forced their EXP boxes on us 4 years ago. We didn't want them, but they somehow convinced us the service would be better. They were wrong! It's worse. Now they want to switch us to fiberoptic lines. I don't want this either. Everyone I have spoke to in our area who had this change over, is not happy. People have told me it made their service worse, if that's even possible. I have also been told the subcontractors they are using don't know what they are doing. People have had to schedule additional service calls with Armstrong employees to correct what the subcontractors screwed up. I am going to fight them on this. We do not want it! They totally suck ! I have 5 different bills from them and each one is a different amount. They shut my service off and wanted me to pay a reconnect fee over what should have been $63. But each time I call I'm given a different amount. $63, $73, $93, $125 and $184. I agreed to pay the $63 with an agent on the chat and they said I had to call customer service to make the payment. When I called customer service they told me I had to pay $125. So today they got their equipment back. Hopefully too many people at Armstrong don't get laid off over my $63. The customer service is awful. The actual internet/TV is worse. TV is consistanly loading when changing channels. Have to unplug the the boxes at least 1x daily (We do not watch that much TV to have to do this). Customer service couldn't find service by name or address after waiting 11 minutes on hold. When asked about the rate increase, she asked my if I read my last month's statement I would have seen the rate increase notification. Seriously, I had it infront of me nothing. Armstrong Cable over the last year or so is slowly forcing Cable users to utilize their EXP Stream TiVo. Since the removal of cable to the sets the WIFI system is by far one of the worst in the Industry contrary to their claim they have been recognized by PCMag,com as the best overall cable provider. You cannot watch a complete show without signal interruptions. When that occurs you of course miss a portion of the show during the search for signal. When you contact customer service they advise that you unplug the service for 1 minute to re-boot it then plug it back in. When the service technician shows up he states there may be a problem with your router or Internet speed. I have 3 enhancers throughout the house and they tell me the speed is far more than needed and should be fine. The last three nights around 8:30 the Television goes into a lock mode as though it is searching for the signal. That is an Armstrong Issue not mine. I currently pay well into $250.00 a month for all their services and am getting service from a $20.00 company. I have now filed a complaint with the Ohio PUCO as I am tired of the excuses and the half ass responses and service I get from Armstrong Cable in Mahoning County. I have now been directed by the PUCO of Ohio to contact the FCC which I will do shortly. read more

Let me start off with the tech that came to upgrade the wiring to fiber optics. He drilled a hole in the brick on the side of my home for absolutely no reason and then he said he will patch it. Then I had to help him run the cable across my garage and into the furnace room. Then the internet went out for over 30 minutes and the tech said I screwed things up in the wiring behind my tv that has not been touched for over 5 years. Finally he installed a plume pod in my furnace room with a 6 foot cable running across the opening of the room. I asked about getting a longer cable, he said I can get a longer one at Walmart and do it myself. Horrible customer service and I get sick every time I see the Armstrong commercial bragging about their service. I pay an entirely too much for cable to get this poor level of customer service in return. We need competition for Armstrong to move into Cranberry TWP ASAP. read more

Armstrong has been the worst internet service I have had since dial-up. I have had an internet outage Atleast one, to three days, 6 weeks out of seven. To make it worse this started happening and continued through the lockdown. I have not been able to get any work done regularly. If it is your choice, DO NOT CHOOSE THIS PROVIDER. Unhappy with Armstrong. Had an appointment today (6/23/2023) to get Internet hooked up. They left a "we missed you" sign on my door and marked me not home. Which is absolutely not correct I was in my living room at 8:45 the time they said they were here. They also said they knocked which again they did not I didn't hear it and neither did my dog. Then they told me they called, come to find out they called my old phone number meaning they failed to update my number last week when I set up the transfer of service and gave them my updated contact info. With all of this to consider they told me maybe on getting someone back out here and that I'm likely going to have to wait until July 3rd to have anyone out. Which is 2 and a half weeks from my original call to set up services. All the while I have been their customer for 2years now. They are the absolute WORST cable company there is!!! They have a monopoly and know it! We have to daily reset all of our cable boxes just to watch tv. We have to multiple times a day unplug their main box, hit "enter" over and over until we get a programming menu and then WE have to reprogram & reset the whole house system ... just to watch live tv or a show we tried to record. Recorded shows have a sound interference every 5 seconds and ABSOLUTELY NEVER try to watch a playoff game on Armstrong, their system crashes. Daily we get the "HDMI cable error" message and we call their customer service and are told to unscrew the HDMI cable and reconnect the cable in the opposite direction. Really?! A cable knows & cares which direction the signal is going inside a cable. Really!? Their techs come out and their only answer is "we have to replace the box". We have had all the boxes in our house replaced 732 times ... don't think it's the box. The new box does the same thing as the old box and their techs say "the only thing we can do is replace the box, don't know what to do ... let me get a new box from my truck" Wait ... you just replaced the box!!!?!?!?!?! I think your whole cable system is TERRIBLE!!!!! The only thing they are good at is sending me a letter 2 - 3 times a year saying their rates are going up. That, and asking me to switch my phones to them. Wait ... I'm calling with a service issue for the 24,678 time and now you want me to give you control over more technology in my home .... BUSINESS OWNERS - Check your account with Armstrong. Apparently whenever a business signs up they are under contract that automatically renews every year. They DO NOT send out notifications of this. I was told it is the customers responsibility. We are moving from the area. I called to cancel and I have to pay for an additional 5 months of service because of the contract. Back again my last review was in 2013 but still no other cable options in Zelienople. Nothing that we can do in Zelienople and Armstrong knows it. My bill just jumped another 8%! So now I'm paying over $250 a month for cable, internet, and phone. The internet is spotty always has been. I've had better cable in Time Warner and Xfinity (Comcast). The phone I can live without this day and age, but it's included in my bundle anyways. We need competition if only to keep Armstrong honest. We live in Wexford area. In the last year we have needed a tech to come out 6 times. 3 times in the last 6 weeks. "The equipment you have is dated. The equipment on the telephone pole is dated, it needs upgraded" says all the in the field techs. All are polite cool guys. "The equipment you have are the new versions. Everything runs fine with it" says every customer service person over the phone. We have our internet come in and out throughout the day randomly, for the last 2 weeks. I can never reach a employee of worth. I mean that by speaking to the person that can actually solve this problem. The "supervisors" are all trained to say the same BS. They might mean well, but there is never that 1 person that solves an issue. Amazing it is 2019 and nothing ever works correctly. Disgraceful company practices. Their service is good and their employees have always been knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. I have no issues with them but I hate the product they are pushing. I was forced to go to EXP when my DVR failed and I was told they no longer would replace it. I liked having independent DVRs so each TV could record independently of the others. If we lost power, I could fire up my generator and watch programs I had recorded. I reluctantly switched and have been very disappointed. The service says you can stream from anywhere. They don't tell you that excludes sporting events. We were out of town and planned to stream a few Penguins games only to be met with a blackout message. You also only have access to limited number of programs and channels. They make it sound like you can stream anything you you would normally watch when at home.. Take your shows with you I believe their advertising says... DON'T BELIEVE IT! Next I tried to stream some shows I recorded using the EXP app. I supposedly have 100meg service on my home side (but that's another issue) yet the streaming was so bad, I had to watch at the lowest quality and it would constantly freeze while it waited for more content. I ended up only trying to watch what had recorded. I was able to get to some cable shows, but a very limited number and since I couldn't even stream recorded program, I didn't have very high expectations. My far end network speed was over 30 megs which should have been adequate as it was a private network, not free wifi in a hotel or coffee shop. Also, the way EXP works is there is one main recorder and the other TVs have some kind of remote unit that pulls from the main box. If there is any kind of network issue between the remote TVs and the main box, you don't watch TV. Another little surprise they don't tell you is that if you lose your internet connection, you can't watch anything even if your cable service is unaffected. Seems they are selling access to your viewing habits and preferences by running everything through TIVO. If they can't capture your viewing information via the internet, you don't get your cable service. Today I don't have much of a choice. Satellite TV seems to be too unreliable but as soon as I have any other option (real 5G maybe?), I'm planning to switch or possibly subscribe to a few streaming services and set up a digital antenna for local broadcast channels. read more

By far the worst cable company I have ever had. You never get the speed you actually pay for, the prices are far above what you actually get. The equipment is not up to date. BUT having them is better than watching paint dry, and since they monopolize the area you have no other choice. If you are moving please check if other (better) companies like xfinity or fios are there. If it's an Armstrong monopoly area-do not move there. It will not be worth it. Armstrong has always been expensive but it's about to get much worse. Because of falling PPP profits due to the likes of Netflix, Hulu etc.... I only use them for the internet, and as soon as I can choose something like Fios, I dropping them like a bad habit. For example, I pay $60/month for 15 down/5 up. Ok, well with Fios for $60/month, I can get 50 down/25 up! For the same exact service, Armstrong has just increased our rate 254%!!!! 254% How can you possible get away with that!!! -Also they meter and cap internet usage and charge you extra if you go over the allotted amount. I miss DirecTv. Like, a lot. We've had Armstrong Cable for a little over two months and have had them out here and on the phone at least 5 times. We've had to reset our DVR/Cable box at least 10 times in order to even watch TV, and the deleted shows never fall off the menu (which is pretty annoying). The only reason we went with Armstrong is because the apartment complex we live in charges us a $20/mo. "access fee" for Armstrong Cable whether you have it or not, which I've been told is against FCC regulations. But anyway, I'm at the point where an extra $20/mo. on top of DirecTv might be worth it. read more

I go over my cap every month since I have moved here. I'm working away from home and have Xfinity and it's great with no issues or a cap. They aren't available here.
