We love Armstrong Concrete! Every concrete job we've needed done they have done for us. They have done many types of jobs, seems like they can do anything! They've done everything for us; Beautiful stained, stamped patios, sidewalks, driveways, driveway extensions, pathways of any shape, corners, curves, ramps and stairs. They have been in around for many years, I really appreciate that they are a family business. The first job they did for us was a full back patio, sidewalks and driveway extension in 2010, then another Huge home project in 2018 (new house) gigantic stained and stamped patio, sidewalks, driveway extension and ramp. Then the most recent, just completed two weeks ago, new construction full driveway, patio, and wrap around walkways. They also hauled in over 20 loads of gravel to fix our road. I have lived in the Mt Vista area for over 25 years. I recently contracted a guy to replace my driveway. He was not licensed or bonded. He did not abide by the written contract and I could see he was far from capable of doing the job. I had no choice but to fire him. Then I contacted no less than 8 concrete contractors, but only two showed up and gave me an estimate. One was way overpriced and the other was by Greg Armstrong. I decided to go with Greg and it was well worthwhile. Armstrong is a family owned business and Greg is hands on owner. He completed the job in a timely manner and his price was very good. It looks SUPER. I have been a Realtor for over 15 years and have seen a lot of concrete driveway construction. Believe me, Greg knows exactly what he is doing and does a great job. Otherwise, I wouldn't be recommending him. Greg IS licensed and bonded. I recommended him to a neighbor who had hired the same person I hired first. He is now having his driveway redone by Greg. DO NOT hire a contractor that is NOT licensed and bonded. You will be opening up yourself up to liability. Make sure the delivered concrete is paid for. Strong-armed. I don't know where to start but it wasn't the quality I expected from a professional company and a person professing to be a Christian. The original site meeting went well and Greg talked a great talk and said how he'd do all kinds of things and "take care of me" and gave a reasonable cost for 24x48 building foundation. I chose him because I had family that used him for a simple building slab. Many verbal things in the scope on that initial site meeting were not kept and our written contract was not clear enough to resolve issues that came up many weeks later. Majority of days when they showed up at my site they were only here about 2 hours which made things move painfully slow. I've never had a contractor have SO many excuses for not showing up... trailer wiring problems, holiday weekend, son's cat died (almost a week delay), hit a sprinkler/water-main (at another site even though mine was significantly delayed), truck front end/wheel bearings out (week delay), waiting for ordering parts (brackets were never actually ordered or created), cannot get concrete?, father's day weekend, Juneteenth, son is on vacation, adult son is sick, adult son has tummy problems (1+ week delay). We had 8 (that's EIGHT!) different concrete pour dates before actually pouring. Part of me was empathetic at first but then it just got ridiculous. I made a mistake by paying a deposit and 2nd payment when forms were up. Unfortunately, I didn't inspect the forms and it took over FOUR weeks from when "forms were up" to when they were actually squared, level, and 95% ready. Don't pay until you inspect! It didn't get poured until I tried to and asked for a refund so I could hire a professional to complete the job. They thought everything was pour ready then I had to point out that the footings were significantly off from the engineered drawings and had to be hand shoveled out. True to my word and what I believe Greg interpreted the contract, I ended up paying Greg the full amount minus the costs of items I had to purchase (j-bolts which were needed morning of pour (no I don't keep a bucket of J-bolts in my garage), vapor barrier which I had to go find) and I also minus the cost to fix my well stack that he ran into. The slab ended up only 1/2" off in length and width and about 0.5-1" out of square diagonally which I thought acceptable enough. However, they could not figure out how to create or buy brackets to wet set the steel truss bolts that I needed for the building (now I will have to incur the time and costs to buy new bolts, drill and epoxy them in). Most unfortunately, about 20x20 area is approximately 1.0" low and collects water. Greg offered to grind down a high corner but I'm not confident in that solution. The concrete dried so fast that within minutes it was setting- several of the J-bolts had to be installed with a sledge hammer- why not just use the jbolt hanging brackets? NOne of the J-bolts are aligned and several stick up more than 6inches off the slab so I'll have to cut and remove them for the sill plate. There's very large and obvious cold joints all around the footing. On top, the contraction/elastic cracks are numerous on 50% of the slab even though I've been keeping it wet. I know he thinks he did a lot of extras for me including this supposed "lots of grading" around the site but the value was negligible as I still need to rent a tractor to drain the water away from the building and grade/fix the approach. I received grading quotes separate from the concrete work and know the actual value. I'm told I'm "ungrateful" and "wanting free" work but all I wanted was Greg to do what he said he would and that's just not going to happen. With strong arm concrete Greg is always right and the customer is in the way. read more

Horrible - don't waste your time. Our driveway is now cracking in four places, two of which started mere weeks after it was poured. Huge cracks. The other two are in low traffic areas and those started less than 1 months after the driveway was poured. The driveway is also covered in rust spots that we were told would lighten and fade away and were "from pine needles" yet we don't have any pines around our property. We even waited beyond the time recommended by the owner to drive on the driveway to ensure we wouldn't be affecting the driveway negatively. We have reached out to the owner so many times and he refuses to solve the issue, ignoring texts and not stopping by to take a look at the cracks as promised. The work is shotty and the lack of accountability is absurd. We got the driveway fixed to address cracks, not to have new ones. read more
