My mother who is handicap and has cancer, was referred to Dr. Armstrong. we drove over an hour to see him, however; when we arrived we were told that they do not accept her insurance. Therefore, they were not able to see her. I explained to them that it was their practice that schedule the appt and already had her insurance information, why didn't someone notice this and call earlier to cancel or tell us they don't take the insurance. The office staff was not nice about it and told me well the doctor needs to get paid. Insurance was united healthcare Medicare advantage plan. They take the Medicare part but not the advantage or united healthcare. read more

I recommend this practice. I have been attending for a number of years now. I have frequent visits as I gave year around allergies. Dr. Becky is amazing and always takes time to be very thorough. The nurses and the front office staff are always accommodating and make my visits engaging and more personal than transactional. Myesha has been around for a good while as well as the more recent additions of Amber and Meghan who I always share a laugh with. If I could give 0 stars I would. I am beyond frustrated and disappointed at the service I received at this facility. My 2 year old son has had 9 ear infections since November, the last one resulting in a fever at almost 105. We have had appointments with other ENTs but none have had dates for the procedure he needs until late August or September. My son is at the point where two days after he stops antibiotics he gets an ear infection. I called this office and they said they had appointments for the procedure in July so I jumped on the next appointment for the dr to do a consultation. I get off of work 2 hours early, picked my son up for daycare and drive 35 mins to this office in the pouring rain to be told when I arrive I will not be seen. I will not be seen for an appointment I arrived ON TIME to. I walked in at 3:30 on the dot, and that was only because initially I parked on the wrong side and entered through the surgery center. When I made the appointment the Receptionist who helped me did mention she was new, but overall extremely sweet and helpful, she did not mention to me I had to arrive 30 mins early for my appointment . The second I walk in I hear " is this her" and as I walk up to the desk the staff proceeds to tell me I need to be rescheduled because I wasn't 30 mins early for my appointment. I received a text the morning of the appointment letting me know my appointment time was 3:30, no where in that text did it say " please arrive 30 mins early for your appointment ". A women there so quickly jumped to say " we are rescheduling her", nothing else said. They were extremely dismissive. I'm just shocked that there was NOTHING they could do to accommodate my 2 year old son. The waiting room was completely empty. I have filled out paperwork at the previous ENTs and it did not take anywhere near 30 mins. I wasn't given an option to fill the paperwork out quickly or I could have sat in the room and filled the paper out while the dr looked at my son. I called back from the car after leaving in tears of frustration and the women who spoke to me said she sympathized with me but there's nothing they could do. I was told I could be rescheduled for the following Monday, my appointment was on a Thursday, how can I get off of work with one day notice? Now I have to find another ENT and push this procedure my son so desperately needs back even farther .I am disgusted with the lack of communication and compassion this staff had. I have worked in the hospitality/customer service industry for over 10 years and I would be ashamed if these were my staff members. read more

I was kept waiting a long time during my first visit to the doctor here. When I checked with the staff, they couldn't explain why. I was simply apologized to when it was finally my turn to see the doctor I was assigned to. Unable to deduce why I was having a hearing issue, Dr. Wilkes tried to convince me that it must be because of a hereditary issue that I was unaware of. In other words, rather than admit that he was unable to figure out what the problem was, he unscientifically tried to convince me that it was all down to genetics. To say this was unhelpful and condescending, would be to state the obvious. There being only a few choices in Richmond, I was scheduled for a return visit to the same facility if the problem persisted three months into the future. It did, but just a couple of days before the appointment, the doctor's office called to ask if they could reschedule. Given this and the previous lack of professionalism, I decided to seek medical attention elsewhere where I received a much more useful diagnosis. Services at Richmond ENT are expensive even if you have insurance. Even after paying what I thought was a needlessly steep fee, the attention I received was poor. In the current moment, if it wasn't already, it should become apparent to us that medical care is a necessity; it is not too much to expect that patients should be treated with due diligence and with professionality. These are in short supply at Richmond ENT and you would be better off elsewhere. read more

I paid over $200 dollars and my ear is still in pain and infected. Dr. Armstrong placed ear tubes and never came back to even look in my ear. I would not recommend a dog to him. He don't care. The NP Johnathan is great, but Armstrong MD, don't go. You are going to still the same issue and you will be paying money out of pocket/. read more

I wish my mother had not trusted Dr. Armstrong. She saw him in March and again in April. I was not with her for her appointments, but she called me after each visit. According to her at the time, he told her that she had a dry mouth due to aging (she was 79). She had a cough that was not getting better, and she was increasingly concerned. She "liked" Dr. Armstrong, so she thought he was a good doctor. Dr. Armstrong completely missed the fact that she had pneumonia. Her pneumonia had been present for months at that point, (according to the Doctors treating her at Henrico Doctors Hospital) and by the time it was properly diagnosed, her full recovery is questionable. The pneumonia was bacterial and it was caused from aspirating food. The aspiration was gradual, and she did not know it was happening. Her lungs (and the cavity outside of her lungs) were so full of bacteria that she had to have the infection drained. Dr. Armstrong not only misdiagnosed her, he overlooked symptoms that have left her bedridden and 100% dependent on others. She has a feeding tube in her stomach, she cannot walk, and she cannot dress herself. An ENT should have found the aspiration and the pneumonia. We are heartbroken that our beloved mother has lost her quality of life. He will not be seeing her again. read more

Dr Armstrong agreed a fee of £160 then tried to add an extra £100 onto my bill for using a camera I bought online for £20.Brought my own scans which he tried to blame my laptop for not seeing,it was just out box that morning so looked at 3 scans then said he got the jist of things then lied thru the whole consultation claiming my nose was fine then when I stated I was going elsewhere he said they wouldnt touch it in that state.A shameless liar stay away bit of a Walter Mitty character does what his NHS masters tell him to ie lie for them. read more

Looking for an ENT? Just don't. I've been dealing with sinus issues for many years and a family member suggested a balloon rhinoplasty to open my passages. The doctor was nice, however I felt like the procedure was somewhat pushed on me upon my first visit -- no alternatives except for gutting out my sinuses, which is a more evasive procedure. I agreed and it was scheduled. I was told that the outpatient procedure would take me out of work for an avg of 2 1/2 days. Although I haven't had any issues post-op, I wish I wouldn't have been awake for what I witnessed after I was numbed up. If you're non-religious, then you should know that he'll ask to say a prayer prior to the procedure. He then pulled in 3 other people into that small room to observe (although one 'observer' assisted), and let's just say that it wasn't a walk in the park. He grinds a tube between your canine teeth and your gums to allow the balloon to enter your sinuses, but they don't tell you about the CRUNCH that occurs once the balloon is inflated. Personally, I don't like people messing around in my skull when I'm awake except for my dentist! The billing fiasco is another story all together. During the procedure the doctor said that there's no charge for the followup. Upon scheduling, the person on the line said that there is no followup to the procedure (yet they do this to charge your insurance as a regular visit.) Remember when I wrote that the doctor said 'no charge'? They charge your insurance either way and you have to pickup the remainder. So it's really a deferred charge. They said that it's a courtesy that they don't have you pay a copay upon arrival and that they bill your insurance first to see if they'll cover it. The doctor shouldn't say something as stupid as 'no charge' when he doesn't know how his billing works. The bill was only $25, but it's the principle of the matter, you know. I won't be stepping foot back into this office. I don't care if they gave me a free t-shirt -- I'm burning it! read more
