My first burrito did have 99% rice so this one had a little less than 99% so I'd say it's better than that. The chicken was good. The veggies were just like some lettuce and beans. Dips were perfect. I'm not sure if this is authentic burrito, but I'm pretty sure it's not more of rice and not so bland. I can't say I've experienced better, but I guess they can do better. I think they're a bit pricey for most people. For me, it's just right considering how I was filled with just half the burrito (or I probably just have a tiny stomach to fill). Might try other stuff from here when I'm in the area. But I hope they do something with the dryness and bland taste of the food.

That would've been okay had the rice been flavorful, but it was bland. The chicken in it was pretty good, but I wish there was just more. And where are my veggies and black beans? What burrito is this? I thought the garlic sauce would be the saving grace, but it tasted weird. Sana nag-Army Navy nalang ako. The nacho platter in terms of appearance was pretty exciting--colorful, lots of toppings, etc. But it also fell short. There was a lot of ingredients, but they tasted store-bought and pretty cheap. Again, I was looking for more black beans, jalapeno and a bit more spice. Contrary to its plating, the flavors I'm looking for in a good nacho platter was just not there. My friend ordered the Pollo meal and was also disappointed. If you're in Mega Food Hall, I suggest you skip them and jump right to the long queue at Frankie's where what you'll be paying for will be worth it.

The place always has a long line every time we pass by. Imagine our surprise when, even on a Monday, the place was packed! We ordered Silantro's Calliente Wings (Php170, 3.7USD) for our starter. Their Lucha Tacos is one of their best-sellers. We had the Medio which offers double choice of meat in 2 taco shells (option for soft or hard shell, we went for the the soft shell) for only Php95 (2USD)! We ordered the lengua and lamb. For the adventurous, there is ox stripe. But, they also have chicken and beef for those who want to play it safe. Go for the lengua, really good! I also had a Mojito (Php90, 1.9USD), one glass was definitely not enough. The only thing we didn't like about Silantro was their service. It took them quite a long time to serve our food. But, even with the waiting time, the food is worth it. I'm going back to this place with my friends. Next time, I'll be ordering their Unli Mojito! :)

When it comes to delicious all-American grub, Chili's has always been one of my family's top picks…read more Just recently, Chili's launched some new dishes, including what they call "Art of the Burger," where their chefs created fresh new flavor combinations! Aside from that, they also have new sides and shakes for those in search for the unique. Here's a look at what to expect on your next visit: Crispy Corn Masa Fries (P300) It's their tasty house-made fusion of potatoes and toasted corn seasoned with chimichurri sauce, parmesan blend, cilantro, and lemon-char seasoning salt, served with three dips (jalapeño aioli, chipotle aioli, and ketchup) A similar dish is their Chicken-loaded Crispy Corn Masa Fries (P525) which makes use of the same tasty house-made fusion of potatoes and toasted corn, but topped with smoked and grilled chicken mix, queso blanco, queso crumbles, green chile sauce, and cilantro. Both items are good to share (and actually pretty heavy), so I suggest getting only one order per group of maybe four to five people to leave enough room for the main dish. These were pretty addicting - everyone couldn't seem to stop eating them since the fries really have good flavor combinations to them. For the dips, my favorite is the chipotle aioli (plus anything with cheese is okay in my book.) For the burgers, we started off with the bites. The Bacon Perfection Bites (P650) is Chili's house-made blend of premium ground beef and bacon, topped with pickles, cheese, and more bacon (who doesn't like bacon!?) It is then drizzled with jalapeño aioli on a buttered toasted bites bun and served with garlic parmesan fries. If you want something healthier, compared to bacon, at least, here is their Shrimp Masterpieces (P550) - succulent house-made shrimp patty on pickled onion coleslaw, pico de gallo, chipotle aioli, and Southwest Cajun seasoning. Of course, the burger is smothered in queso fundido on the same buttered toasted bites bun. Also served with garlic parmesan fries. These burgers are the perfect size to share. But if you want to go big, then perhaps the Magnificent Beef & Shrimp Burger (P650) is the one for you. Thanks to Chili's, we now have the perfect marriage of a hamburger patty and shrimp patty with, of course, queso fundido. The entire thing is placed on pickled onion coleslaw, pico de gallo, and chipotle aioli, topped with avocado slices. Avocado seem to be all the rage nowadays, so it's nice that they found a way to incorporate it into their newest burger. Work of art indeed! Last but not the least is their Sunrise Burger (P550), a carefully constructed breakfast burger with leaf lettuce, tomato, onions, and their signature sauce, topped with queso fundido, bacon, and fried egg. Since burgers and fries go best with shakes, they also came up with two new offerings! The Molten Shake is all about the chocolate, while the Coffee Toffee is, well, all about the coffee (and toffee). For P220, it is a pretty sweet deal, if you ask me. ;) Don't skip on dessert since their Salted Caramel Molten Lava Cake (P420) will change your life! It's everything your salted caramel loving heart desires and more!

Stepping inside, we were greeted by their cupcakes, which I found slightly distracting from the whole Latin American concept. Apparently, it's a good representation of what to expect. Although the interiors were consistent with Cocina Juan's facade--small but beautiful and culturally apt, their dishes were a fusion of Spanish delicacies and American comfort food. I opted for the Chicken Cheese con Chimichurri (see photos). It was a hearty meal for P200: The chicken was moist and perfectly cooked, though I would have liked more heat on my chimichurri and perhaps a more generous topping of it; the cheese was a nice surprise, but I wasn't a big fan. I also would've liked a bit more cherry tomatoes to compliment the sweet sinful char of the grilled chicken. I found this meal perfect with their classic lemonade drink, which thankfully wasn't that sweet because I had a bit of a sore throat that day. Finally, we gave in to the sweet cupcake temptation. I had the red velvet just to be safe. Though it didn't disappoint in terms of flavor, I found the cake base a bit too heavy and sticky. The cream cheese though was the saving grace. Not bad if only their brewed coffee was available. (It did become available later when we were halfway done with our cupcakes.) Overall, it was a good lunch. Now I'm just dreaming about what their burrito and taco selections taste like.

Okay, we're done and I would like to say that burritos are fantastically one of my favorite food ever. And all its Tex-Mex cousins like tacos and nachos have a special place in my heart too. That's why I'm so happy that Cocina Juan is back for Maginhawa for good. Cocina Juan serves Nicaraguan and Tex-Mex food in their hippie-vibe, free-spirit art restaurant. During the Maginhawa road works a year or two ago, they had to shut down for a while. But now they're back, and they have cupcakes! PROS: They renovated the place so it's roomier and I still love their décor; Food is as good as before. Their Everything-on-it Nachos is a family favorite. And of course, their burritos. Enough said; A bit of a wait time for made-to-order grilled food but the staff are so nice, you wouldn't mind. CONS: They don't serve complimentary nachos anymore; Serving sizes are still good enough but it was less compared to before they went on hiatus; A lot of their offerings got more expensive too. TL;DR: Cocina Juan is a restaurant with food so good that you'll come back over and over again.

My brother introduced me to this place and it is just so good! Think of it like a thick taco! Crispy, chewy goodness with every bite. If it's your first time to eat here, go for the traditional chalupa! Be careful with the Chipotle sauce but, it does make the chalupas taste better. The most recent time I ate here, they now serve a dessert chalupa! The chocolate sauce they use is so thick and creamy. It was addictive! :P

More accurately, you get a puffy taco shell, made by deep frying a freshly rolled out piece of dough, filled with your choice of meat, vegetables, and sauce. The chalupa shell is the star of the show here. Its crisp golden crunch yields to a soft, chewy inside. I'd eat it with just sauce. Chipotle sauce, to be exact. Julio's gives a choice of regular crema sauce and spicy chipotle sauce. Crema finds itself somewhere between sour cream and mayonnaise both in flavor and viscosity. The regular version here reminds me of a runnier and tangier shawarma sauce, and is good in its own right. However, I'm a chilihead and the Chipotle adds a nice smoky kick to the crema. Highly recommended. As for proteins, to be honest they take a backseat here. The ground beef is alright, and there's not too much gristle, but I far prefer the grilled chicken for the texture. It's firm and meaty and provides a contrast to the shell. All in all, I highly recommend Julio's' chalupas. It's a cut above a normal taco.
