My brother and I had the chance to try Silantro in Kapitolyo! Silantro is Fil-Mex Cantina and, yes, they sprinkle Cilantro on ALL of their dishes. The place always has a long line every time we pass by. Imagine our surprise when, even on a Monday, the place was packed! We ordered Silantro's Calliente Wings (Php170, 3.7USD) for our starter. Their Lucha Tacos is one of their best-sellers. We had the Medio which offers double choice of meat in 2 taco shells (option for soft or hard shell, we went for the the soft shell) for only Php95 (2USD)! We ordered the lengua and lamb. For the adventurous, there is ox stripe. But, they also have chicken and beef for those who want to play it safe. Go for the lengua, really good! I also had a Mojito (Php90, 1.9USD), one glass was definitely not enough. The only thing we didn't like about Silantro was their service. It took them quite a long time to serve our food. But, even with the waiting time, the food is worth it. I'm going back to this place with my friends. Next time, I'll be ordering their Unli Mojito! :) read more

I used to have a Silantro habit. As soon as they open or a little bit after everyone has gone back to work after their lunch break, that's when I hit the attack button to head out to Kapitolyo. I also like how it is during the day. No lines, less busy and the food is served within ten minutes! I would often tag my cousin along with me to Silantro. And for the Silantro Quesadilla (P160) and Pancholon's Burger (P160) we were already full. And we even share, okay! For the price of their meals, you'd think they'd scrimp on the servings but they don't! You either leave full or you have a take-home bag with you. Silantro has become everyone's favourite place for a Fil-Mex fix. If you come on a Friday night, you're in for a long wait. And people are really willing to wait. Other dishes on the menu to try are: Beef Nachos (P180), Silantro's Burrito (P180) and the Lucha Tacos with your choice of Ligero (75), Medio (P95) or Completo (P110). Mmmm.. Definitely one of the most unique takes on Mexican I've been fortunate enough to try, which is saying a lot since I was born and raised in the U.S. Arguably one of the most popular food stops in Kapitolyo, I've been about 3 times and it's never disappointed. The prices are an extremely good value for both the quality and quantity of food you get. Couple that with a nice and chill atmosphere and amazing service, and you have an awesome dining experience. And we haven't even gotten to the food yet! The food is amazing. There's no overt Filipino-Mexican fusion, but the seasoning and braising of the beef, the slight sweetness there with the savory in the nachos and tacos, and the abundance of garlic in everything all remind you of a pinoy palate. In general, I like the flavor of cilantro otherwise known locally as wansuy. So imagine my glee when a restaurant bearing such name opened nearby. We tried the Beef Nachos and the Caliente Wings. We initially thought it would be a let-down and may be one of those run-of-the-mill, fast food nachos. We were wrong. It had enough chunks of beef, guacamole sauce and mozzarela cheese. Definitely worth it at P160. The wings were also very good. At P170, you get 5 pcs wings, drizzled with guacamole sauce and topped with lettuce. The fresh dalandan juice was indeed refreshing. Though their mojitos could use more ice, both are a steal at P90. They also offer drink-all-you-can mojitos and discounted prices on beer for happy hour, which we took a swing at of course. I haven't tried a lot of Mexican food places in Manila but ohhhmygoodness Silantro may very well be the best of them. Their food is just so good! Don't let the small, busy location and crazy waiting times put you off because that just means it really is worth it. I suggest going at 11-ish in the morning to beat the lunch rush, and avoid Sunday evenings since it's near the Holy Family Parish and lots of churchgoers eat there after mass. The Beef Nachos and the Beef Quesadillas are my absolute favorites from there. Don't let the fact that they're under "Appetizers" in the menu fool you because the serving size is definitely for sharing and it's jam packed with so much goodness that you can get quite full on appetizers alone. The nachos are overloaded with both salsa and guac and an (almost) absurd amount of cheese. I also really like their Paella Fajita Mix because they don't skimp on the seafood. read more

I know a place is going to be my best friend when I take my nieces and nephews there and they like the food. Fortunately, this was the case last week when I took my nine-year-old niece there. As all mothers (and doting aunts) may know, feeding children can be difficult, and I was nervous that dinner that night was going to be another battle. I had patronized Silantro before and never miss the opportunity to order their nachos. They are SERIOUSLY the best nachos in town, and they're really cheap too! One serving can serve at least three people. The nachos are loaded with meat, cheese, and spices. If there's anything I can say about this restaurant, it's that they don't skimp on the meat. That's true even for the other dishes. The best thing about the nachos is that my niece loved them! We finished about two thirds of it, and we're not exactly hefty eaters. We also ordered quesadillas, which I liked enough. They come with very well-seasoned fries. To be honest, I do think they go a little overboard with the cheese here. You can barely see the bread, but if you're a fan of gooey cheese and not much else, you're going to love this dish. Their iced tea is also really good. Oh and my love for nachos brought me here since along with looking for a good Mexican restaurant, I was also in search for the the best nachos in town and like I said with finding one of the best Mexican places, I've also found my nacho place! It's pretty cheap so you'd think that the serving size would be small and I almost threw a temper tantrum when they only just wanted to order one but it's big enough for two, I still believe that one order should be for me alone. Everything is big and it tastes like legit Mexican food! The sauce is also unlimited, don't forget. I don't think I'm ever gonna tire of Silantro's giant beef nachos. I love how they fill it up with just the right amount of chips and beef and cheese and tomatoes and sauces... it makes me feel special that they don't scrimp on them for me, the customer. My friends and I would sometimes ask for more of the sour cream from the nachos (yup, you can ask for more) and pour it over the mashed potatoes. It tastes awesome, teehee! If you're in for a full lunch or dinner, try the beef skewers or the pork ribs! This is a great hangout especially at night when you're with friends. A lot of people have been consistently raving about Silantro in Kapitolyo. I wanted to see what the fuss if all about so I invited my boyfriend to check the place with me. So when I tried out Silantro, I wasn't expecting a lot, and it aas too bad I didn't end up loving it either. The place is a bit small but that was never really an issue. The food, for me, was so-so. Although the servings are quite big, they weren't as aggressive with the flavors as much as I thought they would be. I ordered their Quesadilla and while they didn't skimp out on the beef or the cheese, it just wasn't a home run for me. I can't quite put my finger on it but there's just something amiss. There is no nacho craving quite like the Silantro nacho craving. Silantro is the most name-dropped place to eat among my friends in the area. We use it as reason to procrastinate, sometimes spend money we shouldn't, eat more than we should, or simply just to drive each other wild. Their nachos are insane! And the tacos. And the fajitas. Actually, everything is. They don't skimp on ingredients at all. Portions are excellent and so is the quality of food! And the servers are really nice!! Though I have to say: better than the food and the service are the prices. I love it most for that. It's one of those places that you want to order pretty much the whole menu AND YOU CAN! And it's always a pleasure knowing that you can still have good food when you're broke. Moreover, if I remember correctly, they have happy hour or deals on margaritas and mojitos. I love Silantro so much! My first time here, my friend decided to treat us out (we were probably a party of ten). At first, I was a bit surprised at how small the place was - I was expecting it to be bigger, given all its reviews and how my friends rave over it. It'll probably address that problem too, because at 5pm the place was nearing full already. The nachos and quesadillas are to die for, and at 160 pesos each are a bargain to share with friends. You can even opt to just buy these two dishes and order some drinks on the side. Speaking of drinks, the beers are pretty cheap too, with a bottle of San Mig Light for only 45 pesos. Cilantro is one of the restaurants that I always want to go back to, always want to savor, and it's a place that just hits all the right spots. Unfortunately, it's not so easy anymore to get to eat in Silantro just because it became a lot of people's favorite as well. Visit Silantro during lunch time or dinenr time and you won't be able to find an available seat for you. Perfect time though is just after lunch, especially since there's Happy Hour! Silantro's Paella is so worth it. One, it's cheap. Two, it's delcious. Cheap & delicious is really the perfect combination for a restaurant. The Quesadilla is also quite perfect. The tostilla is grilled just right, adorned by delicious, generous cheese, and the chicken gives it more dimension. Each time I step into Silantro, I just know i'm going to enjoy myself. We just had the worse experience ever! We were greeted by the team member that lists the name for you to get seated--9th on the queue. Waited for about an hour when the lady approached us for our orders, unfortunately most of the items that we wanted were freshed out hence trying out some other items on the menu but the lady assisting us has been giving us attitude from snobbing and literally walking out from us. We didn't really mind it at first because maybe she has been working the whole day! There were 6 of us with a dog so we have to wait for seats that'll be available outside. We tried to ask for two tables because we knew we wouldn't fit in one table but this same lady told us that they couldn't because only 7pax and over can get two tables. So the worst part is, she called another team member to just tell us that we cannot get what we requested and its the matter of how she treated us in front of a lot of people that really disappointed us. She really thinks highly of herself. Very unprofessional! We've been coming here most of the time and this is the only time that we were treated like (sorry to say) sh*t!! I love Silantro's Mexican food! I am a fan of Mexican cuisine and I just really love the vibrant flavors they have in their dishes. This place would always be packed with people and there would always be a line so my friends and I made sure that we went at a time where there were less people. We somehow got the timing so that we were sure to always have a table! The mere fact that they would always have a line just shows how good their food is. Not only is their food good but it's also cheap. Even if their food is somewhat cheap, the quality is still good. Our favorite appetizer there is the Beef Nachos. It's a huge serving and it definitely tastes great! Beef is just so tender and well-marinated. Their tacos are so amazing too! You can choose from a soft or hard shell taco. I always get both so I have variety. A Ligero (single choice of meat) already gets me full because I order another taco and divide the filling. The Medio (double choice of meat) already gets me super full! The Completo (triple choice of meat) is the largest serving. I'm sure a lot of people with big appetites would definitely love that one!
