There was one time where I wanted nothing but burritos. I don't know. I get these cravings…read moresometimes. The odd thing is... I don't really like burritos. Sometimes, there's too much rice and it ends up being rice and wrap and not much else. And the rice isn't even all that good either, depending on where you go. Or it has too much tomato which doesn't really do much for my sensitive stomach. Thankfully, Mexican Express does it right. They actually have a good proportion of everything: meat, rice, cheese, lettuce and salsa. That's a rarity. A good rarity. It's cooked right in front of you so you should be ready to wait for your order. It'll be worth it though, I promise. I've gone there to order burritos for lunch and once I get home, they're still as good and as warm as if I had them right there and then. The super burrito is BIG. Big and the filling reaches from end to end. The place itself is pretty small though so I really wouldn't recommend it for a party of larger than two. If you want to scratch that mexican food itch and have a group of buddies with you, don't be afraid to get something to go and head off somewhere bigger.

Good thing Mexican Express was still open, so we gave it a try. PROS: The staff were kind enough to let me purchase the add-ons only with without even purchasing an actual meal. For a couple of cheese sauces, a serving of jalapenos, and sour cream, I think I spent just a little over a hundred pesos; When we munched our nachos and dipped it in the sauces, they're actually quite good. It's authentic sour cream and jalapenos, and they all mix well. CONS: Their cheese sauce looked runny and blobby inside the fondue pot. But I should not have judged a book by its cover, or cheese sauce by its consistency. It actually tastes pretty decent - tangy and creamy. TL;DR: I look forward to actually eating Mexican Express' actual food mainly because of the good experience we had with their add-ons.

I've been looking for some good Mexican food and drinks in the manila area like how i'm used to in…read moreCalifornia and now I found the place. All the places I've tried around manila looks like Mexican food, but it doesn't taste anything like how Mexican food is supposed to. Finally found a place that is the best I've tried in the Philippines so far. I normally drink vodka but i tried the frozen margaritas since i was at a mexican place, i wanted to try a mexican drink haha plus have an unlimited margarita special for P295 for the rocks margaritas & P395 for the unlimited frozen ones. I had both the lime and strawberry frozen margaritas and they were both good. I liked the lime one better, my date liked the strawberry one better. I changed up the flavors every other drink since it was unlimited anyway. I like how they make the frozen margaritas overflowing almost like a volcano. We shared the mozzarella sticks and buffalo chicken bites for appetizers. the Mozzarella sticks were actually crispy mozzarella sticks not like other restaurants i tried that use a lumpia wrapper and put cheese in it and call it mozzarella sticks haha. Buffalo bites were were sweet with a little bit of kick. They were small bite sized pieces of chicken breast with their Buffalo sauce glazed on it. Not really Mexican food but the girl i was with wanted those for appetizers so we got them. We also shared the carne Asada steak super nachos/super fries. I asked them make the super nachos with half super fries so we got to eat both. So damn good I am always going to get that every time i come here. I have not found any decent nachos in manila area or even super fries. The other places ive tried uses ground beef and that liquid cheese. That ish ain't nachos. I can't stand that haha. This place uses real slices of steak and grated cheese. There's also a special sauce they put on top that I can't really describe but it tastes pretty good. Me and my friend ate every last piece of it. There was nothing left on the plate haha In california me and my friends always get the super nachos and super fries after a night of going out drinking so I've really been missing it and searching for a place to satisfy that craving here. We tried their turon dessert here with ice cream on top. I've never had turon with ice cream. It was a good twist and went well together. The only problem is the ice cream melts so fast so you gotta eat it quickly. Overall was a nice place to chill and have drinks while eating. We sat in the front bar area. We really felt like we were hanging out at the beach. Would recommend to anyone looking for something different to try with a cool atmosphere. Great place to take a date. We even took pics together wearing their Mexican sombreros. The pics came out really cute. A great memory for us to keep and remember our date. They also have a big room in the back where there was a group celebrating a bday while we were there. They sounded like they were having a blast from all the nonstop laughing we heard.

El Fili is the rebirth of Some Kind of Wonderful (SKOW), which is a restaurant I never recommended…read moreand will still not recommend to friends who ask about Marikina restaurants. When this was still SKOW, we enjoyed their pastas, but not their Mexican dishes (Burrito Brothers along Lilac is a slightly better choice), and I still have the same verdict. First of all, they have poor lighting, which isn't conducive to food photography. I know this may be like nitpicking, but in this day and age, people often take pictures/videos of their food first before eating. Second, call it bad luck or poor timing, but in the two times that we've tried SKOW and then El Fili (and in different years at that), our primary and secondary orders were not available. That is always a frustrating experience, no matter what restaurant one is in. Third, in my opinion, the food isn't sulit, especially the price-serving ratio, and more importantly, the taste is just blah. The final blow would be how un-appealing they look. Thankfully however, they do have good pastas.

I always believe that sauces can make or break a Burrito, good thing this new and promising Taqueria make their own sauces that goes well with their Burrito. They have homemade Mexican Creme Fraiche Garlic Sauce that is so good and authentic and their Green & Red Salsa Hot Sauce was just amazing. Their Tequila Chipotle Ribs was divine, the meat was so tender and the Chipotle in adobo sauce went well with the Tequila Marinade. The Mexican Rice and the Corn Salsa side dish was also good. Lastly their Spanish Churros was simply the best. The traditional Spanish Churros that is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It comes with a bitter sweet Tsokolate de Tablea dip, which other Churreria don't use. If you want good Mexican Food and Retro 80's ambiance surely you'll love this place! AA truly new gem in Marikina!

I'm not really familiar with Mexican food but for some reason, by the looks of it, I had a feeling that I might enjoy this one. The Chalupa, their main product, looked a lot like a taco but bold prints on one of their signage clearly emphasized that it's not. I ordered their Beef Chalupa which contained beef (duh), veggies, cheese and other good stuff. You can even choose to put their special homemade hot sauce especially formulated to competent the soft pita-like chalupa. So if you're a fan of tacos and nachos with all the meat and special, you should definitely give this one a shot. You won't regret it. I didn't. Note: Say Chipotle (chi-pot-lei)

I first saw a stall of theirs at SM Hypermart (but I think that closed down), we wanted something different from our usual merienda (fresh lumpia, potato corner, pizza ollo, etc) beside the nearby stalls. I was so happy to have found it at the megamall food court, they also carry the iced tea brand All My Tea and it goes so well with their cheesy beef chipotle, for chicken lovers, you can opt to have chicken chipotle instead, both taste super good anyway). What amazes me too is that the customers get to see how they prepare the dough, sprinkling flour over it and then dipping it into the fryer. Such an interesting process and it's always nice to know how my food is being (safely) cooked.

I can finally say I found my new favorite Mexican restaurant. I would like to commend them in the following aspects: 1. There's no better alternative to dining in the restaurant itself. COVID-19 changed the way we approach the experience of dining-in. The restaurant strictly and effectively implemented the health protocols to ensure that both its staff and customers will be safe. They did this by opting to have an alfresco setup instead of the closed air-conditioned one; the staff arranged a table of six for us (even though there were only 4 of us) to ensure that social distancing is implemented; the waitress changed my straw when she accidentally touched it when my drink was being refilled (I didn't even notice it and yet she did it, kudos to you ate!); and paper napkins were neatly wrapped on each utensil sets to ensure that its sterilized state is maintained. 2. unfortunately, I was not able to ask the name of the waitress who served us tonight because she was not just very good with her job but she was also a good hostess who did well beyond what is required from her. The moment we entered the restaurant, she already greeted us with a smile and led us to our seats. She rearranged the table for us and even said to us that she wanted to take a family picture of us outside the restaurant before we entered it (because my dad is taking a picture of my sister, Mom, and me without him in it). She enthusiastically discussed to us their menu and helped us decide (her suggestions were great though!) and she comes to our table to give us what we need even before we asked her. Her good service to us made us say a sincere "thank you" to her every time she approached us tonight. 3. Of course, the food is great! I'm a big fan of Mexican food and since the closure of my favorite Mexican resto here in Marikina, I've been in a search of a replacement for it (hahaha). Our perception of the taste of the food we eat is subjective but from what I've tasted tonight, the price of their food is worth it because they were able to capture the taste and flavor of what I've been looking for in a Mexican dish. The proportion is also enough to make you full because every space in that burrito I ordered was filled. To close, I'll recommend this place to everyone because you can dine here either if you are alone or with your friends and family. The ambiance and feel of the place make you think that you are in Mexico and there's this homy vibe to it when you just want to chill and have a drink and snack while you work on your project. I'll be going back here and I've yet to try the other dishes on their menu, so please support them and give it a try!
