We called ahead and they were able to accommodate same day massages for my mother-in-law and me. When you get there, there's a rack of clean slippers for you to change into, a rack for outside shoes, and a bin of used slippers for when you're leaving. The front desk offered us bottled water when we checked in but there's also some lemon water at a self-service station. They placed us in the same room so that we could chat during the massages if we would like. They ask that you strip down to your underwear and knock to make sure you're ready and under the blanket before they come in. There was a good variety of massage lengths you could choose from. We did a 45 minute massage this time, but I'd like to do a longer massage whenever we return as it didn't feel like there was enough time/focus on certain parts of the body. The feet was just a quick two pounds of their fist, which didn't really do much for us. I had CeCe and my mother-in-law had KiKi. Overall, the massage was nice. They used oil and a combination of their hands and elbows. The pressure started off too light for me, so I asked her to go harder. She noted she was afraid to go too hard, so I told her not to be. This spa is larger than it looks from the outside. The waiting area is spacious and inside there are lots of treatment rooms and nail salon area. We came for a 30 min massage. The prices here are pretty good value in my opinion. Massage room was nice and relaxing and massage itself was ok. Pressure could have been lighter but my fault for not letting the therapist know. Washroom had no toilet paper and no hand soap so for a spa environment that was a bit unpleasant but overall pretty nice and I'll probably go back to check out more of their spa menu or monthly specials. read more

So I am a complete spa noob. I did not know good, deep tissue massages mean pain. Lots of pain. But now I do. My calves have turned into jelly. But I was really quite impressed with this place. For my birthday, my boyfriend bought me (and himself) access to the hot tub ($40) and a 1 hour RMT massage (about $100 each). He made sure repeatedly that we would be placed in the same room so this wasn't an issue for us. The outside was your typical, "possibly sketchy", big Chinese letters shop front. Once you step inside, it was a beautiful environment with high ceilings and wooden decor. Great way to get you into that relaxation mood. The VIP room held up to 3 people and this was where all the hot tubbing and massaging took place. It was a very nice room, dimly lit with a curtain separating the hot tub and shower area so you could have some privacy. The hot tub was legit with lights and water jets. We got the full body massage afterwards and it was the strangest hour of my life, rotating between intense pain and almost falling asleep from being relaxed. I guess you can always ask them to lighten the pressure (which I did, twice) but how else was I going to get all those kinks and knots out. The head massage at the end was fantastic though. I wish I can buy a 30 minutes session of just that. Service was very friendly. There were a couple of small communication issues here and there because, you know, Asian spa places. But all in all, the receptionist and massage therapists were professional. They brought us water during the hot tub and after the massage. Bobo was the first masseuse that was able to give me a thorough full body massage without tickling me. I'm quite surprised to see such a nice spa like Discovery Day in Markham, cuz you know, some of the spas in Markham is a bit .. sketch LOL :D. I received a manicure - $20 and a relaxation full body massage (45 mins for $50) during my stay here. Once I arrived to the spa, I noticed the entrance had a slipper rack and you can leave your shoes there. I disliked that I had to leave my shoes by the entrance with others as well, what if someone steal it.. Anyhow, the receptionist took me to the room for a full body massage. I noticed they didn't offer me a complimentary tea or coffee though. I had to ask for water, but that's not a big deal for me. The room was dimly lighted with a nice & relaxing music in the background. In the room, I was instructed to strip (lol I swear the spa is not sketch, I was allowed to wear underwear) and lie down with my back facing upwards. The lady who was going to provide me with the massage came in and I told her of specific area where I needed her to focus on. I also advised her to avoid my arm where my tattoo was healing. I thought the overall massage was relaxing and and I felt quite refreshed afterwards :). I liked how they respected your privacy by knocking on the door for permission prior to entering the room as well. The manicure was really nice. I thought the table was not as clean as I wanted. I came here with my boyfriend on a Sunday afternoon to receive a much needed foot massage, while my boyfriend decided to go with a body massage. We were taken to a room that had two massage beds and two cushioned chairs. While we were waiting, we were given complimentary refreshments to enjoy before our massages. I was given a bucket of hot water to soak my feet, but I only had my feet in there for around 5 minutes before the guy started the massage (I think it's supposed to be 15 minutes). The guy massaging my feet was very good and thorough. He made sure to massage every tissue in my feet and legs, and made sure to do the exact same for both feet. During the massage, they played relaxing nature music to give a peaceful experience, along with dimmed lighting. My boyfriend received his massage around 15 minutes after mine started. Another guy came in the room and asked him if he wanted a light or deep massage. He went with the deep tissue massage to help him get all the knots out of his back, which lasted for 45 minutes. He said the massage was painful, but it was just what he needed because he felt very refreshed afterwards. Overall, we both really enjoyed our massages and would definitely go back again. I was very disappointed with the quality of customer service I received at this spa. The wait time was ridiculous: I waited over 1.5 hours even though I had prebooked my appointment. There were not enough employees to service me and my two sisters. So I was standing around while they got their manicures and pedicures. I had shellac with jewels on my nails, which all came off after 1 day. The technique was poor and she just blobbed shellac on the jewels which was clearly ineffective. I also received a massage, and the package stated thai, swedish, or deep tissue massage. But when the female started, she didn't ask me what my preference was and just started the massage. I felt like she had no idea what she was doing and just randomly rubbing without a flow. I felt like it was an inexperienced massage. At the end, I booked another appt to come back for another package. But when I arrived, they said, very rudely, that I had no appointment and there were no other openings. So i wasted my time driving to the spa, and they were unaccommodating. Do not book your treatment here. The packages are not great and the employees are NOT EXPERIENCED and are RUDE. The service here is great. The spa is really big and beautiful inside. They have probably over 10 staff working here. It is easy to get an appointment and they are always busy. I have come here for the following services: -Pedicure - It was relaxing and all my dead skin on my feet were removed. They scrub the feet really well. -Manicure - I got a nice hand treatment and shellac Pink-a-boo (see picture below). -Massage - The masseuses here use a lot of pressure, tuina style. I like a lot of pressure in my massages and I felt very relaxed after this massage. -Facial - Susanna gave me a facial and helped me remove all my blackheads and whiteheads. She recommended some GM Collins products to use because I was using the wrong products for my skin. It's been a month and I've seen a huge improvement in my skin. read more

When we went inside the spa, there's a slipper rack right by the entrance door but we were not asked if we wanted to change to slippers. The waiting area is very spacious and nicely decorated with bamboo designs and stone fountain, but the zen forest theme illusion quickly gets ruined by the big long display of beauty products for sale right next to the fountain. Beside the waiting lounge is the beauty bar. However, the divider between the two is a see through glass. I don't know but if it were me in the beauty bar, I'd feel uncomfortable that random people in the waiting lounge can see what's going on in the beauty bar. There's a hallway that loops around in a square formation. This is where the massage and facial rooms are. The rooms are very spacious and nicely decorated with proper furniture. You will also see metal handle bars in the ceiling since they have the type of massage where the masseuse will stand on you. Some rooms have showers in them. It seems like they don't regularly check the bottles as we found empty bottles of shampoo and body wash in our shower. They don't have a lot of options for drinks and food unlike other places I've been to. For drinks, they one have water and jasmine green tea. And for food, they only serve fresh fruits (in which case was orange and grapes for us). I tried two different massage services: 1. 45-minute foot massage ($45) - When we were about to start, the masseuse asked whether I wanted to change to a pair of shorts that they provide or stick to the jeans I'm wearing (which I can roll up). I opted to stick to jeans since it is normally what I do in other places.  I had my feet soaked in hot water for 15 minutes, and then the masseuse took my feet out to dry them up and get ready for massage. She didn't introduce herself coming in. One thing I noticed was she tried to roll-up my jeans further but it wouldn't anymore so she just left it the way it is. This somewhat bothered me as I felt that there was a reason she wanted to roll it up further (e.g. massaging more area above the knee). She should've asked if I wanted to change to shorts after this fact. I would've changed to shorts had I known my jean roll-up was not high enough because I don't want to miss out on what she had in store for the massage. But she decided to start the massage anyway. When she started the massage, she asked if the firmness is good. I really liked the foot massage as it started with the correct firmness for me and it was consistent all throughout. And what I liked the most, which is one of my  criteria and very hard to do for foot massage, was it was hard and firm without being being painful all throughout. 2. 45-minute relaxation massage therapy ($50) - After my foot massage, I had the body massage. This time, it was a guy who did the massage. The guy didn't introduce himself as well, nor did he ask if there was specific areas I would like for him to focus on. He also didn't ask if there are any areas that needs to be avoided. Though there is none for me, I know high-blooded people cannot get the back of their necks massaged. I actually prefer a guy doing massage normally because they are inherently strong in massage so it's good they have option for male masseuse. He started with my back by pressing some pressure points to figure out the firmness then started the actual massage. He asked me if the firmness was ok: it was just right - correctly firm without being painful. As he was switching from hands to elbow on my back, I noticed the massage became weaker. This broke the consistent firmness I've been happy with from the start. I didn't know if he was just getting tired or something. By the time I wanted to tell him to make it harder, he switched back to using his hands and the firmness was correct again. In this time, my face started getting sore and uncomfortable from the hole in the bed. It wasn't big enough to cover my face so I had to move my face around during the massage. This was a bit disconcerting as I normally like to sleep during a massage. I also felt my knee getting sore as the bed is a bit too flat and firm. In other places I've done massage, there would be a pillow in the lower leg area so that it assumes normal position. For the rest of the massage, he did the my back, butt, legs, shoulders and foot. But he didn't massage the front body whereas another friend of mine who did the same massage got front body. So there's still some inconsistency on the body massage. Overall, I really enjoyed how the masseuses do the massage here. Very rare that I don't have complaints on the firmness or painfulness (and by pain, I mean the type of pain that makes your body tense up and fight against the massage), but both my massages got it right, except for the short hiccup in firmness when the masseuse switched to elbow. read more

I read a lot of the reviews online and saw that some customers really enjoyed the massages! So I gave it a try. I had an appointment for a massage in the afternoon. I arrived 5-10 minutes early and waited for about 20 minutes beyond scheduled time. The receptionist asked if I would be ok with a Male massage therapist. I said I didn't mind. The room was fairly nice and dimly lit. However it was not warm and the cushions were not comfortable. The massage (45 minutes) started out rough .. sometimes they are.. so I politely asked him for lighter pressure. Nothing changed. I asked in different ways twice again.. at this time it was very painful.. he ended up leaving the room and asked for a woman to come in to translate to him what I was saying. He didn't speak any English. I really don't mind if there's a language difference but when giving a massage, I think it's extremely important to know some words like "too hard" or "just right" or "is everything ok?" He continued on with a little bit of lighter pressure but not much. It was still painful and not relaxing whatsoever. Been coming here quite often until their shower door fell on me. It just came off the rail as I was opening it. Luckily I was able to grab it in time from hitting me in the face, but someone caught at unawares or has less strength could have easily gotten knocked over or at least a bruise on the face. I believe they went through an ownership change and the spa's maintenance is not well kept as of 2016. Be careful when you use their showers... the knob is tricky and it can be set to scalding hot temperatures. The room is dark and the knobs are NOT clearly labelled. You WILL burn yourself if you are not careful. I foresee a lawsuit towards them happening very soon as it can happen so easily. Do not recommend for massages. I've been coming here for a while (over a year) and at first I was so enchanted with the décor inside and the new-ness of the place. My first visit over a year ago was amazing! So amazing I purchased a pre-paid package which I am glad to say it completely redeemed so I do not ever have to visit here again. The RMT who performed my first visit massage was great and very friendly. They wanted me to purchase the package so they showed me around and even sold me on the fact that they have a "VIP" room which allows up to 3 people and houses a hot tub for relaxation before/after your scheduled massage as long as you inform them. Fast track to after I purchase the package I slowly began to notice my masseuses were NOT RMT as I was being told - they were unregistered. Why did I pay RMT prices for non-registered masseuse? I have gone to enough RMT massages to know how RMT's perform, however, after the first initial visit here, I've had the so-called "RMT's" straddle me while massaging me and actually causing me more pain and discomfort days after! This is fraud. Secondly, I always booked the VIP room as I go with another person, and upon my most recent visit (a little over a month ago) I was told in order to use the hot tub - I have to pay $20.00 per person to use it. THIS WAS SOLD me to AS part of my package when I first pre-paid! These Asian people who run this "spa" are crooks and they are hiding under the pretense of telling their customers that their masseuses are registered when they are not and charging their customer higher prices under that false information. Beware customers - if you want a massage that is fine - but do not be fooled - you are not getting a RMT massage even though you are paying for it. May as well go for the non-RMT because it is the same people performing the massages. And don't bother purchasing the pre-paid package - it's a complete scam. read more

I have been coming here for almost 2 years now. They never missed my appointments nor did I ever need to wait for more than 15 mins. I have tried foot and body massages, manicure and pedicure. There's not a time I do not feel satisfied leaving here. Staff are friendly, especially front desk Helen. She always makes sure things are in check. There's a time I booked my appointment for 4pm and she knew I wanted to come earlier. She called me back right away to accommodate me when she knew a customer CXL her appointment. I claim my corporate benefits here, never had any problems and I get my RMT receipt right away every time. Much less fishy than other massage places. What I like the most is the cleanliness and comfortable environment here. They also serve you fruits, cookies, coffee, tea and pop. The inside decor is modern. Some important thing to note is that I have verbally verified w the staff and have seen it with my eyes that their manicure/pedicure tools have run thru UV sterilizer. This is very important to me as I wanted to make sure after each customer, they do sanitize their equipment. If for whatever reason, you have a cut on your skin, you could get infections from unclean tools. Also, the plastic slippers and toe separators that they use on you, the do not reuse or recycle them. You might think that this is very basic and not a very meaningful point to make, but I actually have seen stores reuse on other customers, which is pretty disgusting. Massage: use Eric, he's really good and knowledgable. He lets me know how and why I should change my postures and gave me health tips. Pedicure/manicure: use Judy. She is fast careful friendly and cute. She can speak Chinese and English. Everytime she carefully makes sure my nails are completely try before letting me go. It's a little bit older, but generally well kept. Upon checking in, the lady at the front desk wasn't super friendly or professional. However, she led us to our room and quickly explained the services. She left and came back to bring us tea and cookies, which was a nice touch! The massage therapists then came in to start our foot scrubs/massages. The actual massages were alright... Great if you love deep tissue, which I do, but I found I was bruised in certain areas after my massage. We opted for extra time during our massage (to add a head/neck massage) instead of getting the pedicure, but I felt as if it would have been more worth it to get the pedicure. The head massage consisted of applying pressure to my temples, which really just gave me a headache. Overall the services were great. Just not the best compared to other massages I've had. Today me and my girlfriend felt so tired after work we spontaneously said let's do spa around 9pm and found this hidden place in the area. We walked in and was offered a package foot and body massage for. $75 90mins but felt longer like 120 min..Normally other spas cost $45 for 45 mins.. Dollar per a min. Sound like a deal so we went for it. Tea water and pop was offered. We got a room for 2 ppl also asked if they do bigger party per a room.. They did up to 5ppl which is good for special event or a small gathering. This is my first foot massage I expected a lot of pain.. Glad such a beautiful spa is available on the east end of the city! It was my first time there today, and I must say, the service and the price are excellent! I chose package B- which was the advanced facial, massage and manicure, and lasted 3 hours. I ended up paying a bit extra for the shellac manicure- and it was definitely well worth it. The facial was nice and relaxing. The package included the advanced facial, and the only recommendation would be it would have been nice to include an exfoliating scrub in one of the steps. The massage was good too, but would have been nice to have been asked the type of massage I preferred. The one I received was mostly swedish with some maneuvers seen in deep tissue massage. A bit of oil or more lotion would have been a bit more comfortable- at times, there was too much friction during the massage. All in all though, it was very good. Shellac manicure was awesome! My manicurist was very bubbly and friendly, and did a great job on my nails. What I like about this place is there is a variety of services- if you don't want to do the full manicure, you can just do a polish change, or a shellac polish, and the price is very reasonable! Worst customer service ever!!! I never thought I would have to write this kind of of review. I had called them on Dec 28th to book an appointment for Dec 31st for my mother and I, as this was my Christmas gift to her. They assured me they would be open and then proceeded to take down my information for booking the appointment. Great! Dec 31st 10:30 AM- This is where the shit hit the fan. I called the day of to confirm my appointment as I forgot the time I booked. A lady picks up the phone and I gave her my name and my reason for calling. She goes "can you give me the time, there are so many names"...okay...I say "I don't know, that's why I am calling to double check" and so I gave her my phone number. She goes through the list and I find out that my name and phone number are no where to be found... I typically wouldn't be upset but WHAT?!? Are you telling me if I had shown up with my mom that we would never have got the services done. At this point, I am annoyed and the lady goes "Oh it's busy, the other girl must have forgotten to write it down". Seriously, there is no way you aren't looking at the calendar and not write down the booking. There was no point in arguing, I ended up rebooking at 3:30 for two people and that I would want to have the mani and pedi done at the same time. 3:25 PM - I walk in and I end up getting frustrated talking to the lady at front desk because now my mom and I were being separated. I go "Why did you say yes, when it wasn't going to happen!!!" and she's like "we are so busy"...blah blah, then why would you book if you are at capacity. We wait 25 minutes before I head to the front desk to ask how much longer and blatantly said "If nothing is going to happen in the next 10 minutes, I want a refund of the gift certificate I purchased". The lady at front desk is like "5 more minutes, the client is getting dressed"...I could only roll my eyes. Just to end this review, I didn't do the manicure because during the pedicure (which was poorly done), I was just too mad and was picking up on all the other crap they were causing for customers. For example, there was another woman getting a pedicure and couldn't get why her friend's pedicure was so quick. Don't get Katrina because she was too busy handling other issues from other customers and overall, just rude. She actually rolled her eyes when the the other woman was complaining about her friend's pedicure. I really was here to bond with my mother and I couldn't do that at Discovery Day Spa. It's unfortunate as I had high hopes for this place. I wont be coming back here and I advise you all to use your best judgement and pick a place less chaotic and unorganized. Been here twice now with my family. They offer a large range of services, from massages to nails to facials and so much more. Even their massage menu ranges from RMT, relaxation, to more traditional ones. My parents go on a monthly basis and swears by their massage therapist! Got my nails done last time after my massage and they were quick, friendly and efficient. Girls night out or special event, book their VIP room! Tons of space, a shower, massage beds and chairs! I had the grossest and worst skin day that I couldn't do anything until later in the evening. I had called multiple places and no one would take me in last min. So I looked a bit further and found this place. They open until midnight which I thought was fabulous as I normal finish work past 8pm. The inside of the store is beautiful. The bathrooms are beautiful. I originally wanted to come in for a facial- they booked me in for 8pm. I got there early and I was showed into the room. There were also quite a few shoes that were already in which I was surprised because of time of day: there were still lots of people here. The girl I got for a facial was friendly, a good amount of small talk once in a while. She gently offered me add ons but I never pushed for it. While she was doing the facial I decided I wanted a body massage and when she finished, she directed me to another room for the massage. The other girl was also nice and attentive, really good pressure but also gentle to areas that were sore to me. I left the spa feeling like a refreshed jelly. The best part was my facial. I loved it. My skin took a 360, it was glowing and clear and feels so good. Will definitely be returning for that store hour and facial. read more

This spa was incredible! Everything was so beautiful. This was my first spa day and the entire experience exceeded my expectations! The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Came here today for the first time based solely on the reviews I had read. It was a great experience from start to finish! This place really knows how to treat you great. The atmosphere is relaxing and fresh, very open and spacious! My masseuse, Connie, was knowledgeable and left me feeling great. Pros include: great prices, great combo rates and specials, very very very clean, location, staff are very friendly. I honestly could not think of any cons for this place. There is a language barrier but that is somewhat expected in an Asian owned spa. So really nothing. Left here feeling relaxed, refreshed and happy that I got my bang for my buck! My boyfriend and I came here today for a couples massage (non rmt type) and we enjoyed it quite a lot. This place is pretty big, they're able to accommodate a lot of people and the service was great. We saw some people getting pedicures man and women, they seemed to be enjoying themselves a lot. I would come back here, they also have late hours on Sundays which is harder to find in a day spa so that's a big plus. Also I'd like to add my appointment was made earlier this morning (same day) and they were very accommodating, which I appreciate. read more

Very impressed! Just finished my first RMT session with Kristen and am feeling great. She assessed my problem areas and tailored the session towards improving them. I suffer from lower back pain and shoulder stiffness and I can really see that visiting her a few times will help alleviate the pain. I've tried many RMT before but i have to say that Kristen is the best i've found so far. Fortunately i have work benefits so the massage doesn't really cost anything either which is awesome =) The spa staff were very friendly and offered tea or juice as well as sliced orange pieces which i thought was a nice touch. Great relaxing feel to the place - something about the wood on the walls really works. Overall a nice experience and i would def recommend this spa to others. read more

A massage & foot reflexology package a Aroma Day Spa was given to me as a gift from a friend, so I went there to try it out with another girlfriend. I must say I was extremely impressed with their services! The store is just across from Markville Mall with lots of parking spaces. We were immediately greeted by the receptionist, and was offered a cup of tea while waiting for our therapist, which was only took a few minutes of wait. The place was spacious and clean. The waiting lounge was comfortable. We had our session together in the same private room, since we booked together. The room felt relaxed and clean (I am really keen on cleanliness!) The therapist came to the room with herbal water for us to soak our feet and did ou foot massage right in the room, then followed by a full body massage after. My therapist was professional, checks with me every soften to make sure she gave me the right among of force and if I am comfortable. We snooped around the store after, they have a room with jacuzzi, mani, pedi, facial... pretty much everything. The price pretty reasonable, and I understand they takes insurance. So we will definitely go back again soon. read more
