I would give it 4.5/5 stars. I called last minute for an appointment when the place east of there was booked solid on a snowy Sunday! Who knew that "Sunday waxing" was a thing ;) I was happy they had a slot left 30 mins later. *Tip: call and book an appointment I arrived a few minutes early and filled out a short form (including a waiver) as it was my first time. The esthetician was ready for me and took me into a clean room and showed me where I could put my belongings as well as where other things were in the room e.g. A small towel. She also asked what areas I needed waxed. She provided instructions and then left while I got ready and came back a few mins later. I can't remember her name as it was very unique and started with the letter M. She kept up a nice cheery banter most likely to distract me from any pain. She was good about not making me feel self-conscious as she was very nonchalant and kept on chatting. She was quick and let me know how many more strips she would be using. It was quite quick thankfully! I won't say it was pain free but it was as painless as could be expected for having your hair ripped out using hot wax. Ha! Before she left the room she gave me instructions for 2-days post waxing (loofah/exfoliate!) which was helpful. And pointed me in the direction of the complementary wax removal spray, body lotion and wipes which I appreciated. I didn't feel rushed as they have many rooms and it took me a while to get all my outdoor winter layers on. But she just took the next client in the room next door. tldr; Very professional, hygenic and fast! I got my first Brazilian here and it was a breeze. Go on Tuesdays / Wednesdays for 15% off their regular prices. Also if you're a first time customer make sure to take advantage of a free underarm wax! You can make an appointment online or through the phone. The entire process took less than 15min and was nearly painless. I was greeted by my waxer Margo (who is amazing btw!) and taken to a room where they had a rest table covered in one-time use paper to lie on. She does more than a dozen a day and there's really nothing to be shy about as she'll talk you through the process. I loved how open she was. Everything was one-time use so it's very hygenic and you get some after-wax lotion. Margo also recommends St. Ive's Apricot Scrub for post-wax use to exfoliate and deep clean the pores. FYI, this might be TMI so read at your discretion. **Underarm**: 5min I was told to take off my shirt and wear either a tank top or a bra and lie down on the table. Then I was instructed to raise my arm over my head and hold the underarm skin taut while she applied the hot wax and ran the one-time use paper over it twice and removed all the hair. Due to the speed and the heat of the wax it was virtually painless and super fast. She then applied a wax cleaner to remove the residue. Easy. (Disclaimer: I've waxed my underarms myself before but it is definitely less painful to get it done by someone else) **Brazilian**: 10min First time! You don't need to trim with Margo though some other waxers might insist this. I was told to remove everything from the waist down and lie down on my back with a towel over my nether regions. I was warned beforehand that it would hurt but as long as I followed her instructions it wouldn't be so bad (and it wasn't!). Anyway she did this in small sections depending on the direction of the hair growth. She also told me when to breathe in and out so I would experience the least pain and shock. You're also holding parts of your skin taut to ease the process. Afterwards you're told to flip around to get any pieces of residual hair. This place completely irritates me. I really hope they have improved, but I went 4 times for a massage last year and I had a miserable experience every single time I went. Upon each visit my appointment was delayed! Significantly delayed too - the first time I waited 40 minutes past my scheduled time before I was taken to my massage room. It happened on the 2nd time too. By the 3rd time, I got pissed off and told the masseuse that I only could do a 30 minute massage instead of 60, because I had somewhere to be. She apologized profusely and explained that she had many arguments with the reception staff over booking appointments back-to-back with no time in between. Drama. I tried once more and it was still 20 minutes behind schedule, with me being left on my own in the reception area each time. I had my first bikini wax ever here (a brazillian). Even thought I was scared and nervous everyone here was very warm and professional about the whole experience. I found Aroma Wellness Clinic and Spa online after searching for cheaper hair removal places downtown. I saw they had certain discounts on tuesdays/wednesday as well as great reviews so I decided to give it a try. (They also advertised a numbing spray which other places didn't have.) I made my appointment via phone and my appointment started right on time. The receptionist was very nice and the whole place looked and smelled very clean. I was led to a room to get ready and the esthetician (Mary) came in for the waxing. I explained to her it was my first time and I asked for the numbing spray. She told me I had nothing to worry about and grabbed the spray but there was none left. I started to get really scared and she assured me that it would be quick and that she would teach me a few breathing techniques so it would hurt less. As she applied the wax it was the perfect temperature (very soothing) and she counted 1,2,3 before she ripped so I could exhale as she did it. It really didn't hurt that much at all. She also distracted me with small talk so it went by very quickly. She finished in about 6 minutes and I was really impressed with the outcome. EDIT: Since posting this review, I was contacted by the spa owner and received a full refund. She did do a great job of trying to make me happy and get me to return to her spa but doubt that will be the case. I booked my massage online, using their reservation system. I opted for a one hour deep tissue massage. Other than the location being clean, I cannot say anything positive about my experience. I waited around 20 minutes passed the start of my appointment time as the masseuse was with another client and was running late. The woman administering the massage first thought I was coming in for a brazilian, which should have been a clue for me to not go through. I disliked the music playing, it was too loud and too upbeat to be relaxation music. The massage ended on time, despite the masseuse starting 20 minutes late and her finishing move to my massage (pounding on my back with fists) bordered on extreme violence. I have been hit by a streetcar and I have broken my tailbone but neither of those experiences compare to the pain I am in following my massage. It has been a full week and I have still not recovered. I do not recommend anyone come here for a massage. read more

I've been here before for waxing, and while I like their services, this review is specifically for the upstairs spa. For Christmas, I was gifted the "Pamper Me" Package, which included a 30 minute relaxation massage, hour long dermalogica facial, and manicure/pedicure. Despite visiting Aroma many times for waxing, I was somewhat hesitant about their spa services. I won't be again. I was welcomed upstairs (which is far more quiet and serene than the main floor), by my esthetician, or "skin therapist", whose name I cannot remember but started with a T. I wish I could because she was fantastic. The first service was the massage. At first I was nervous. I'm used to RMT massages with someone's elbow squeezing the air out of me and relieving my overworked muscles. This was completely different, and unbelievably relaxing. After thirty minutes being rubbed by oily baby hands I was putty. Next up: the facial. I have to admit, this was only my second facial ever, but it was truly fantastic. "T" went through step by step explaining the products she used, what she saw under the super bright light she used, and explained some at-home treatments I should try (without once trying to sell me any product). After the facial came a spa manicure and pedicure. Usually I go to the cheep and cheerful Korean-run salons on Bloor street when my toes and fingers need some love, and while I often have a great polish it never comes with the patience, time, parafin wax, or conversation that these did. She spent at least 45 minutes on both my hands and feet, and, nearly 2 weeks later my toes still look amazing. All in all this was an amazing experience that I would highly recommend to anyone looking to pamper themselves or a loved on. read more

This was truly the worst wax job that I've ever had, and I have been getting brazilians for years. This was my first time here, and I understand that it may just be my experience, but wanted to caution others anyway. While I was being waxed my waxer, Lisa, was nice and pleasant, and it went as it normally does, but it was afterwards that I completed regretted going there! I have NEVER broken out down there as much as I have. This is two days after my wax and it looks like a teenager's face that had just hit puberty down there. I'm pretty disgusted (and upset). They talk to you and teach you breathing techniques to make it comfortable for you. Facials are relaxing as well. Definitely try the paraffin wax, it makes your feet super soft. I have only ever visited Aroma for their waxing services, and I have been thoroughly impressed each time. The first time I went, I had purchased a coupon through a daily deal/group buy website. Unlike similar deals I have purchased from other spas, I had no issue booking my appointment in a time frame that suited me. Before the appointment I received a phone call from their receptionist to inform me that they were running behind, and I was able to arrive just on time for my session. Since then, all subsequent visits have been very timely. The spa is very clean and welcoming. I have seen Mary for each of my visits and she is very friendly and quite good at what she does. She is very conversational, which I personally enjoy during waxing procedures. She does a very thorough job in a short time frame. I'm sure most ladies (and some men) will agree that a wax job that lingers makes for a less than enjoyable trip to the spa. Also, the price can't be beat. I've seen other spas offer the exact same services for a lot more. I totally feel like I am getting great value for my money at Aroma. The online system is easy to use to book appointments, and sends out reminders the day before, which is really helpful should you have forgotten your appointment and need to cancel. The best part? I recommended their waxing services to my roommate. When she went in, they inquired if she had been referred by anyone. I had heard good things about this place so I checked it out. The receptionist was very friendly and I felt welcomed. But the woman who waxed my legs was incompetent. I had about two weeks of hair growth on my legs, and my hair is really coarse. She told me some of the hairs weren't long enough to get pulled out, but she said most were fine. I gave her the go-ahead. At the end, she said it looked like she had gotten most of it. I took a quick look and it seemed like there were a few hairs left that I could pluck out. Then I went home and took a closer look, and I noticed that almost NONE of the hair on my legs had been actually pulled out--it had all been broken off at the base! I don't understand why she said that it looked good at the end if most of my hair hadn't even been pulled out. I feel that I paid $45 to have my legs painfully shaved. Went here for both sugaring and waxing. I saw Vanessa for sugaring. She was so nice and talked me through everything! Highly recommend her. Then I saw Kacie for waxing. She waxed my lower legs in about 4.5 seconds. She's extremely quick- which is great for waxing! On the other hand, don't expect more than two words out of her, she was really quiet. They have some decent discounts depending on which day you go. But note that they don't do free spray tans on birthdays even though their website says so. Overall, I recommend this place. I came back for my second Brazilian and i keep getting the same issue! - the white bumps keep appearing from right after the wax to a day after and last for like a week (and yes i a very hygienic and clean) -the second time was more painful which is a bit odd -i keep seeing broken hairs! She didn't even press my skin after pulling each strip! The whole area was red and swollen for about three days!!! Trust me, I've tried various places, in various neighbourhoods, at various price points. They beat everyone hands down. Location: They are located on the block just west of Honest Ed's, on Bloor. The spa itself is clean and has a soothing white and mint palette, something to calm you down prior to the wax itself. Experience: Speaking of the wax itself, appointments are booked in 15 minute chunks for most services, and the staff is so good that even if you experience pain (cz waxing does not come painless), it won't last longer than 15 minutes. Can't beat that for sure! Price: Cheap and amazing. They also offer a 15% discount for all services booked for Tuesdays and Wednesdays. See? Amazing. Aroma is the best waxing spot in Toronto! I've been going there for over 7 years and have never had a bad experience. Everyone that works at aroma is amazing and friendly, but Mary is the absolute best. I always try to book her for a brazilian wax. She is a pro and will have you out in 5 minutes, I can not sing her praises enough. The spa is immaculate, there is no double dipping, and it's such a reasonable price. I don't know how other posts are complaining about the cost! I just took a look on the Internet and aroma is cheaper than most of its competitors. When I go to get waxed, I want it done by a professional not at a nail salon that does waxing in the back. I've heard horror stories about that and had some terrible experiences getting waxed before coming to aroma. Tuesday and Wednesday are 15 percent off and that happens to be the days Mary works at this particular location (Bathurst and Bloor). They also have a very convenient online booking site. I really loved this place on my first visit!! Unfortunately, my second visit wasn't as good. I got pedicure for both visits. My first one was fantastic. The aesthetician knew exactly what she was doing. I had this nail growing on top of my little toe and I had no idea what it was, I just thought I had dry nail or bumped my toe into something. But when she saw it, without even me telling her, she said she knew exactly what it was and removed it so precisely. The price is slightly expensive than average, but I had no complain because the pedi lasted until I took it off, which was over a month. The second time, I had a different aesthetician because I didn't remember the name of my first (shame), and she didn't even ask about the second toenail and left it as it is until I requested it to be removed. This wasn't really the biggest prob I had with my second visit though. The bigger prob is that their polishes are so old, discoloured, and sticky. I chose an opi colour that I already know, and the colour is totally different from the one I know. It was so sticky and gooey that my pedi didn't turn out nicely :( this time my pedi began to peel off from the first week :( I won't be visiting again, but I still like how hygienic this place is. The pedi tools come in wrappers, and are opened right in front of your eyes!! Buffers and files head straight to the bin after filing is done. I guess if you stick to the aesthetician u like, u won't have any probs w the salon except for the old polishes. They really need to update their polish selection. This was my 2nd time getting Brazilian and it was so much less painful than the 1st time (I went to a different place). The girl missed some spots, but that could be because I started to bleed a bit and I think she's afraid of blood. Either way, great job done, my skin is so soft and no negative reactions from the wax. They use high quality materials, definitely recommend this place. I went here last week for a Brazilian i have had many in the past. They were on time. The Brazilian itself took 10 minutes. They were very professional, and use a very good technique to get the hair off. No double dipping either. Pain was 1/10, I have had a lot worse experiences. I also got my under arms done for free because it was my first time there. I guess my underarms are super sensitive bc they were raw and sore for the next two days. The only negative was that when I was paying there seemed to be some sort of argument between the two people at the counter. ? Sarcasm? Who knows. I've been going here for four months now and I must say that this place is a gem! I have told all my girlfriends about this place and I brought two friends so far and they all love Korine! TIP: ALWAYS make an appointment and don't be late because you will have to wait longer for another appointment. I would have given the spa a five star if it wasn't for one particular receptionist who is VERY RUDE and whenever you call it seems like you're bothering her. I've been going to aroma for two years now. Their brazillians suck as they use hot wax which really hurts! And makes you bleed! Also it's a toss up about how your experience will be based on who does your waxes. I've had some waxers straight up mess up my eyebrows and/or vagina cause they were incompetent or some who give me an ok eyebrow wax or an excellent one. It seems hard to get the same lady everytime. Anyway I stopped going here for brazillians and just get my eyebrows done as it's the cheapest place near my apartment . My waxer Liz didnt wear gloves to do my brazilian... and i dont even know if she washed her hands after her previous client as she was in such a rush to get to me she was 30 mins late... the place is clean and bright but i wont be back. The wax was fast and clean but i do wish she did some tweezing as the finish touch.
