For my graduation, American Gran decided she'd visit, which was nice. However, at the time I was basically squatting at a mate's house and was thusly unable to offer her a bed. Arora, situated very conveniently on Princess Street, came to the rescue.
Step inside, and Arora is a quiet, calm, modern, well-lit haven. The foyer has the great power of being able to make people be very, very quiet. So, hushed and flattered by the lighting, we checked American Gran in. The concierge was vey ready to take her bags up, but she loudly announced that the boyf (who had been unwillingly dragged away from the football to meet American Gran at the station) could handle her bags. I think it's because she didn't want to tip the concierge because he had a modern haircut.
The room was very nice; all laminate wood and white crisp detailing. And there were about a million light switches all over the place. Some, I was unable to find what they 'went' to, which was upsetting. So, too, was American Gran's deep misunderstanding of the key-card system. It took her three swipes and a lot of swearing before she realised she weas using her AmEx card, and not the key itself. Sheesh. Mind, that's not the hotel's fault...
American Gran announced the breakfast lovely, and I can speak for the coffee.
The Arora is a great place for city centre access; everything is right on the doorstep and Princess Street is pretty much buzzing with taxis most of the time, so even those who don't know the city well will be able to use it as a hub. read more
