Even with all the struggles that came with the hurricane, I couldn't trust anybody else more with the care of my horses. The other boarders have also told us how much they love Chrisi and how well she has taken care of the horses. Her lessons have taught my daughter so much, and she loves them. She always comes home with the largest smile on her face, talking about how much she loved it, and how it is the favorite part of her week. There is such a community at the barn, and Chrisi has really grown that. It is a place that is so great to be, and you'll not just get excellent care of your horses, or amazing lessons, but friends and a community to be apart of. The ranch and ride was so much fun, being outdoors with the beautiful horses. It was my first time riding- felt nervous but excited- and the team made me feel at ease. I received a mini walkthrough on how to guide the horse to go forward, stop, and turn. My guide was Matt who made my first visit (but not last!) great - told great stories, and shared about various animal/plant activity along the trail. They told us she would be starting in 4 weeks time because she was 3rd on the list. No problem. They said they would call when it was time. Called back in 5 weeks. The person who answered seemed annoyed at my inquiry, and stated "we have a pretty big show coming up in 2 weeks, she won't be starting until after that". Again, she indicated someone would contact us after the show was over. 3 more weeks went by, made another call, left a message, no response. Another few days, another message, no response. I just don't understand how you can ghost a 10 year old after telling her she can train but then repeatedly delaying her start date. If you can't accommodate, why not just say that upfront instead of getting a kids hopes up? I understand busy, but the blatant disrespect for other people's time, especially where a child is concerned, is just a huge let down.

Huge shoutout to our incredibly patient and helpful tour guide who made the entire experience smooth, safe, and enjoyable for everyone (especially first-timers). Everyone was friendly and welcoming. The horses are well trained and follow each other since they already know the trail, but they still respond to commands like go and stop, and you can steer them left or right if you want. That made us feel comfortable even as first-time riders. The only area I think could be improved is having a small practice area for brand-new riders to learn the basics before heading out on the trail. Other than that, everything was amazing. The ride was about an hour long and very enjoyable. We will definitely be coming back!

Example: this past summer was very wet, so they would not put the horses in the pasture for fear they would tear up the pasture. However, they did offer to put your horse on the hot walker for $10 per day but you had to buy 10 days minimum. In addition, they insist on keeping your credit card on file to automatically charge. To push this strategy, they charged extra if you paid by check, stating that it was due to the extra costs of cashing checks....uh.... there ARE no extra fees for cashing checks but you do pay more for credit card transactions!

I was looking to surprise my wife with her first horse back riding experience. Tried searching for…read moreevery place near me, leaving voice-mail after voice-mail, but couldn't get through to anyone until... until I managed to locate Iron Horse Guest Ranch. Nestled in close to the Renaissance Fair and downtown Magnolia, this was the perfect place; close to our home. Setting up the appointment for a lesson was quick and painless; used facebook messenger to work out the best time. Prices varied, depending on the type of lesson, were very reasonable, and all proceeds went back to the horses on the ranch. I would quickly learn that everyone is a volunteer, as this home is for horses rescued & rehabilitated from someone the harshest circumstances. We arrived to meet with Niki, owner and operator. She was an amazing guide and teacher. She and her son helped explain everything to my wife and I prior to mounting our amazing rides; Gunner & Hershey. They were both very patient with our questions, taking safety very important. Best part of the experience was enjoying the ride without having to take any photos. Niki did all of this for us without having to worry, and sent us all of the amazing pics after the ride. All and all, the hour or two we spent here was very special and we will soon not forget it.
