Initially we had a low promotional rate of about $70 for a month. Then the rate returned to the normal rate of $149/month. All was good for a little more than half a year until they decided to do a rate hike. A $100 rate hike, with a small 30 day notice. On top of that they don't make it easy to cancel. The app doesn't have a number to call. You have to send an email and there isn't an option to cancel there, only a contact us form. The letter about the hike in price states rising facility costs and current rental market conditions along with other factors. I highly doubt a 67% increase is warranted given the stated reasons.

Coast to coast…read more I feel I dodged a bullet with many moving brokers trying to secure a contract through a hard sell and promise of *literally* unbelievable rate quotes. Doing further research I found there's a common and growing scam to quote low, then hold your stuff hostage until you pay surprise extra and extreme charges. Anyway, I went with U-Pack after researching the various container drop-off and load options. Contract terms were straightforward and no surprises on drop off. Both the start and end, U-Pack and their shipment team were super easy going with the schedule. Just call a day before drop-off/pick-up and they were able to make it happen. I had 3 cubes and two went to destination and the 3rd was stored by U-pack for a bit while I secured a longer term storage unit, and they dropped it off there. Make no mistake, packing and loading the cubes is a huge freakin' task. Do it in layers with large flat items working as "walls" to help hold stuff in. And ratchet strap each layer. A special call out to JW, the forklift operator in San Jose! He was one with that machine and able to maneuver with extreme skill and precision, including a very narrow and long driveway with tight gate and cypress tree. He's a magic man and was able to place the cubes perfectly between sidewalk and street and back yard driveway - saving me $ and headache dealing with the San Jose tax assessor regarding a permit if cubes block street parking and/or sidewalk. Other thanks to Skee (Ski?) at the drop in Florida. Also skilled w/ the lift and super accommodating on placing the cubes where I wanted. Finally, Gerry (Jerry?) and Lorenzo at dispatch. You'll be given a pretty huge window (like the whole day) for drop-off/pickup, but I'd give a call and they'd be able to narrow that window to a couple hours.

After a walk through, Arthur, our foreman, said they could do pack and load in the same day (other movers tried to get us to let 2 guys pack and load a 3 bedroom place in 1 day and we canceled that). The movers were nice and listened to all special instructions on both sides. Now the negatives. We had a musically instrument that was not packed extra carefully, but it arrived fine. They charged my card an extra $600 before getting my authorization, but they explained the next day the valid reason.

Chuck (who I believe is the owner) didn't scan any of my packages, which was immediately suspicious. When I questioned it, he said they don't scan these kinds of packages... yet he ended up scanning the FedEx one but not the USPS one. When I asked for a receipt, he refused and said, "We don't do that here." I had never heard of a shipping place that didn't offer drop-off receipts. I was caught off guard and honestly should've asked for my packages back right then, but I was a bit shocked. I turned right back around and came back to retrieve them and he said no because once packages are "past the counter," he couldn't return them and they're already all mixed up. I pointed out that he didn't even scan my packages.. and I could clearly see one of my packages. I even offered to match my ID, but he refused and was incredibly rude about it. I should've read the reviews before stopping by this location.. that's on me. But now I'm so worried my packages will get lost or never make it to their destination.
