Are you into getting a free beer? Are you simply into going to a place that looks sparton and cheesy? If not, I simply can't find a reason to recommend this place. Felling clean, sharp, and looking like a million bucks upon leaving Arrow! This is a cool barber shop without being pretentious or unaccessible, it's hip but not hipster, which means the staff is friendly, you can grab a cold beer if you like, and it has a well done retro-modern aesthetic. Men's cut $21 (as of Sep 2018), and while this is a few bucks more than others Downtown, the cut was great and the experience was enjoyable, problem-free and relaxing. My son has been going to Timmy for a long time. I can't say enough positive about him. He does an amazing job. The place is clean and the staff always friendly. My only complaint and the reason why I don't use them myself and why I can't give them the 5 stars rating they deserve is that they only book appointments for a 2 week out window. I want to book my next appointment as I'm leaving my current one. The front desk staff says they aren't able to do it and they have no idea why they are restricted from doing it. Leaving this review because I'm very unhappy about the recent $10 price increase. My fade always takes less time than a "short cut" does, and now I have to pay even more?? I asked the girl not to take too much off the top, and even told her a funny story about one time where a barber cut my hair super short and later that day was mistaken for a Marine. Guess she thought I was talking just to hear my own voice, because when I looked up she had cut off about 2 inches from the top. Now I look like I'm in junior high. So, one wonders in today's world that customer loyalty is rewarded but people here are oblivious to the concept and may be living under a rock. The stipulated timings that they put for the appointments is a word on rock as far as their time goes but the umpteen times that you have to wait there not for 5 or 10 minutes but more than half an hour goes unnoticed to the arrogance they carry around there. First time trying this location but I work down the street and needed a quick cut. It pulled up as a barber so headed over. Wish I would've know that it's not really a barber and they don't take (like) walk-ins. I waited for about 20 min while the four ladies finished their cuts and then when two of them were done, they just sat around doing busy work for 10-15 min waiting for their next appt. Two customers just sitting there looking at them and they avoided all contact hiding behind the front desk. It was very strange. I'm used to a barber where it's next man up, limited conversation while cutting, and a handshake after paying. This was like a salon but in an old looking barber shop. When I was leaving, the employee asked if I wanted to leave my number and they'd call when they're ready. I have been coming here since they opened and to the Cameron Village location before that. I have been happy every time. I used to try to schedule with Mick exclusively but he's so popular that I've had the chance to try out some other stylists. Last time I saw Sabrina and she also did a great job! Everyone is extremely nice and personable but not excessively talkative if that's not your thing. I was intimidated by going to a barbershop as a woman but they are just as good with women's hair as men's. I do skip the shave though ;) Before finding Arrow I went to a few other salons in the area and paid over 2x as much for haircut I was either meh about or unhappy with. Not sure what all the buzz is about... I recently moved to Raleigh and had seen the same stylist for about the last 6 years. I was a little apprehensive to find someone new, but the reviews here were so great it convinced me to check this place out. Appointment was easy to get, despite others noting the busy schedule. I arrived and was told a different person than the one I scheduled was going to be cutting my hair. No explanation, but I really wasn't too concerned. Was offered a beer, but I had to go back to work. Waited for about 10 minutes, despite being on time for my appointment. (mildly annoying. but again, there are bigger things in life to get worked up about) When the guy finally came out he asked me a couple quick questions about what I wanted done and then that was it... no chit chat, no checking in, just silence for about 15mins. It was very weird. To make matters worse, they turn your back to the mirrors while they are cutting. I had no idea if he was giving me a buzz cut or shaving me bald. I did not like it at all, but I trusted he knew what he was doing. In the end I got an OK haircut. Not the worst I've ever had, but not something I'd go back for. The price was cheap, about half what I paid back home. It felt very much like a factory though - get people in and out as fast as possible and throw in a beer to ease over any hiccups. I'd rather just pay more to get someone that takes a little time with me and make sure I'm happy. read more

I recently relocated. I've relocated quite a bit over the last several years. It's nearly impossible to find a barber that can do it as well as the last barber (that took me forever to find that last time). I got lucky finding this place. I've had a haircut by just about everyone there. They ALL rock. Personally, I go with Mick (when I can get an appointment with him). That dude is meticulous like a surgeon with the scissors and clippers. Did I mention MAKE AN APPOINTMENT! The website says walk-ins are welcome. Good luck if you want to give that a shot. Dude. They cut hair, and give you a beer while they do it. Im not sure the expectation some people had going here, but it isnt a "salon". Its a classic barber shop. If my grandpa went in here, he'd be stoked. He'd also slap the first hipster that walked in looking for "bangs I can style and brush in front of my eyes, because im brooding". Pixies, rejoice! Quality cut on the quick and cheap. I was paying $60 for a luxurious monthly trim next door and just couldn't keep spending. Arrow looked fresh and hip (and cheap), and another short-haired lady gave it a thumbs up. So when you make an appointment online, you have to choose between men's cut (short / cheap) or women's cut (medium or long / not as cheap). LOVE this place. I've been going here at least once a month for the past year. Being from WV, I never had any place like this to go for a haircut. Not only are they great barbers/stylists but you also get a complimentary beer while you wait or get serviced. They treat their customers nothing short of awesome and I always feel welcome. Their online scheduling is great as well, and very easy to use. I usually just come in for a haircut. I've never bought any of their products yet but they have a nice selection at decent prices. They also offer other services for men and women alike. Natalie is my go to and awesome at her job. She's been getting busier and busier lately (rightfully so), so I've gotten haircuts from Kris as well. She was amazing as well and just as courteous and thoughtful of her job as anyone else there. You seriously can't go wrong. I know they accept walk-ins but honestly I would schedule an appointment. This place is so busy all the time and it's just so easy to schedule an appointment. I've never gone on a weekday though so they may be a little more open during that time. All of this goes for the Cameron Village location as well. I've never been to the Durham one but I would expect it is just as great as the other two. read more
