The outside front entrance had a really nice garden with bench seats and a clock, I believe this building was a former train station due to it being close to the train tracks and it's a Santa Fe Engine 5008 display next to the museum that looks really nice and also a 2-8-0 steam locomotive #2546. Even though the Disney museum was small it was still very nice overall experience. Walt Disney childhood home is located not too far down the and is definitely worth checking out too.

There's a little bit about Walt's childhood there, and how its Main Sttreet buildings inspired Main Street USA at his theme parks. While it plays off the quote , "Jf it all began with a mouse, " there is a great gap between his childhood and the construction of the first Disney theme park -- Disneyland -- that is left unexplained. Instead, there's is a good deal of memorabilia. The museum is not affiliated with the current Disney corporation. If it were, it would have the full Disney glamour and sparkle treatment. Without that, it is a small town museum a bit out of the way, honoring a local boy who made good.

Located at the Visitors Center is a museum, gift shop and theater where you can watch a 20-minute film about the history of one of Missouri's oldest settlements. The parking lot is huge so that parking should be a no-worry. Be sure to get a map of the village as there lots of historic sites noted. Many of the buildings are still standing after a century and a half, including the legendary J. Huston Tavern. Speaking of which: at this time, the tavern is temporarily closed until the State (which partly owns it) finds new ownership. I was very bummed that I did not get to eat there recently, but here's to hoping. But be sure to check out some of the old buildings like the printing press museum and the old jail. Plan on spending at least a day here.

The Lodge is quite striking from Highway 65 and the view of central Missouri is beautiful from the patio. I'm pretty sure that the experience would be so much enjoyable if I had been able to enter the mansion instead of just reading about it's interesting history. Even if you don't have a reservation go check out the view and what little you can see; it's only about a 3 minute drive off of US65. A cool and unique addition to the Missouri state parks system.

The museum staff are really nice! They were very welcoming and made sure to point out the small Anthropology museum that you can also visit. Pros: this is free! As I mentioned above the staff seem really nice. I also overheard a little bit of several docents giving tours to different groups while I was there, and they seemed really knowledgeable and had interesting stories and facts about the art. The only thing to keep in mind, is that it is pretty small. You probably wouldn't spend a whole day here. I spent about an hour.

There is a…read moreton of middle Missouri history to take in, souvenirs, friendly people, and it's basically right on the trail itself. The building is beautiful from the outside, and inside you'll find friendly staff eager to talk. We stayed for a while taking everything in, of note, they have some nice restrooms to boot. It's not going to be open every time you ride by, so if it is I say take a few minutes to stop by here!

They had tons of them on display that looked really cool. But alas, I'll just have to visit another time. The three star review from me is due to the building and grounds being lovely even though the depot was closed. It is normally open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (although I would recommend checking their website or office for details) This is the former Sedalia, MO train depot and it is now connected with the "Rails to Trails" program and the wonderful Katy Trail that goes almost all the way across the state of Missouri. The depot is a beautifully restored building and tours are given but not on my visit (again, so disappointed)...I'm sure it is very cool! If I come back I'll update this review with more details. We explored the grounds. The bike shop and bike rentals were open, however. I think they're owned by a separate entity (Champion Bike Shop if I'm not mistaken). They also had used bicycles for sale outside the depot. There is ample parking here. Additional tip: If you're in the area and so inclined, do check out Daum Museum of Contemporary Art.

We wanted to rent the Christoper Wren church for an anniversary…read more They initially quoted a price of $2,000. and were totally inflexible even with reduced needs (i.e., afternoon only, no rehearsal the night before). That was not quite right, but we accepted it. But when we were ready to confirm, they advised us that they were bumping up the price by 40% (so $2,800 total), plus were adding a $500 cleaning fee, none of which was on their website or mentioned in any of their prior correspondence with us. Their excise was, "Oops, we didn't get around to updating the website?" Pathetic. Then, even though we'd already been communicating for a while, they said they wouldn't honor the $2,000 price. They said we were asking for a "discount," but what we were actually asking them to do was to simply honor their original quote. Their response was that they wouldn't budge on the preposterous $800 increase by even a dollar. A visit to the facilities is enjoyable. But avoid trying to do business with them, because they have no character or integrity.

It is in the same building as the library, but with a different entrance.

I have enjoyed having this art gallery/library/archive in my backyard, but I never really used it…read more I mean, it was only for folks researching their geneology or something, right? Well, when it came time that I needed to do some digging around for local Missouri lore related to square dancing, I did a little checking on their website and as Emeril says, BAM!, they cooked up exactly what I needed. The best part was, it was free. I mean, I guess my taxes are paying for it, but the folks who work there are really helpful, they actually seem like they want to assist me, and they had all this equipment for me to use when I needed to listen to some cassette tapes and even some reel-to-reel audio. Of course, there were some weird things I had to get used to. No pens. None. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Zed. But I could carry around electromagnets, no problem? Anyhow, that being said, I had to get used to other archivist rules (keep everything that was in a folder, actually keep it in the folder). But since they deal with one-of-a-kind stuff, and they don't want to lose anything, this makes sense. I wish I had a reason to delve into their archives earlier, now this place is on my list whenever I have any inkling to learn something about Missouri history.
