A birthday party would probably be a great success here, especially with supplemental kites or frisbees or other throwing things. The grassy field is sizable enough for kickball and other such terrain-sprawling sport. We had a compelling game of pine one ninja (think live-action fruit ninja, sub Dowel rods and pine cones). There's a quaint earthen walking path on the far side of the park that, I believe, leads to a pedestrian sidewalk passing over I40 and leading to the Winrock mall. There's also A bunch of well-maintained tennis courts, which I thought were for public use but appear to be restricted access... tennis club or something? I don't know for sure; better check with google on that. There's imposing chain link fences surrounding them, and while tunneling under may be difficult due to the asphalt and turf perimeter, you could probably climb them if you really wanted to play when the courts were closed. * Yelp does not condone criminal trespassing, and their views are not necessarily reflected in my satirical advice on circumventing restricted access. Cons: the classes aren't all conducive to a working professionals schedule. Classes are pretty limited through the week- if you can't make one that might be the only offering for the week. The Del Norte location has better classes IMO. Barre/pilates. I don't know why- but the outdoor pool is closed A LOT. It's been closed for months at a time since I've been a member, which is a bummer because that was the original reason I joined this gym. Biggest con- outdated bathrooms. I really wish they would refresh the showers Overall the gym gets the job done & I'm thankful to live close to this facility.

It is large, lush, very well maintained, in a good location and has things that other parks do not offer (tennis courts, kids playground, architectural structures, and chalks/ dog poop bag stations). Sometimes there are neighborhood/local fairs going on as well. People there are nice and polite..and because the park is so large, everyone can have their own space enjoying the park. I try to take my dogs there sometimes and they loved how expansive and lush the place is (one of my dogs loves rolling on the greens there!). I want to say there are maybe 12 courts, very well maintained, most have shaded benches, power outlets available, and score keepers for match play. They host tournaments and often you'll encounter a bunch of people livin' the good retired life, hanging out, sometimes hosting a pot luck. Like the pool next door, this is a great community facility in the summertime, for young and old alike. Concerning the instruction: This complex is the recipient of a USTA grant for beginning players, and it's a cool program; students begin on a tiny court and slowly graduate to bigger nets and bouncier balls, ultimately finishing in Skilled. And because they're employing teenagers, that's the quality of the coaching -- I know all about it, I once taught, when I was that age. As a parent, I'll only suggest to watch carefully. We've had some terrific coaches, some lackadaisical, and seen management that contributes to both. Don't hesitate to bring up your issues with the front desk, so far, ours have been addressed. Hey, the classes are dirt cheap, the facilities and equipment are good (they have a ton of loaner rackets and balls), overall, can't complain.

Klaus ran the drill and was very good at keeping the drill true to its name - high intensity! He offered positive feedback and kept the drills entertaining. The other players were very welcoming and nice players as well. If you want to get a nice cardio workout while also working on your game, I would definitely recommend you check out their drills.

But....the hot tubs often have little kids in them, especially in the evenings and on weekends. The tubs are small and some of the kids are very young. The other issue is loud music in the gym. It's not clear who wants it; almost every patron has earbuds on. But if you don't or are working out with a friend, it's really unpleasant. The place is popular, for good reasons, so it would be nice if these issues were addressed.
