I have been in the Arroyo Medical Concierge program for 8 years. 2 years ago my primary care Dr, who was excellent, retired and was replaced by a new Dr. A year ago I requested to switch to another Dr in the group because I was not happy with my care and was told the other doctors, Malzone, Ruiz and Fitchmun, were not accepting new patients. I am again requesting a switch but again told that is not possible. So my $2100 fee, was just paid and I don't have a doctor. It is difficult enough to find good medical care in SLO County but one would think that Arroyo Medical Group would care about its patients and find a solution. read more

Dr. Ellman (now Malzone) has been my PCP coordinating my care for a few years now, and she is kind, respectful, takes as much time as she is allowed. She has been the only doctor on the Central Coast I've ever truly been able to trust, knowing that she will always listen to me and work with me on everything I'm concerned about. Dr. Malzone is professional and thorough, and a great advocate for her patients. Her staff are typical medical office staff and nurses - sometimes friendly and sometimes not so friendly, but always professional and thorough. I have been going to Dr. Malzone since 2008. She is one of the most intelligent, passionate, and competent physicians in the area...if not the state. I have never felt rushed during an office visit as she takes the time to thoroughly listen and respond. Additionally, she keeps meticulous medical records that are instantly available during the exam. During the Covid-19 pandemic she spent almost a whole hour with me online as I had a minor rash.....how many doctors would do that? Sometimes I don't want to write glowing reviews because it's like giving away the secret of your secret fishing spot. Dr. Megan Malzone has been my primary care physician since she moved to the central coast and was first with Ventana Health, several years ago. She has always been kind, compassionate, effective in getting results, and knowledgeable about my health. i have never been disappointed in her care or the care of her nurses and staff and cannot think of any other doctor who would do a better job of taking care of her patients. I called because I'm a new patient. They said the only way to become a patient is through their concierge program. Which the fee is over $1,000. I asked if I could join with out the concierge program and she said no because there are at capacity. I'm so confused at this point. Then I said "So your not taking new patients?" the girl on the phone said yes we are but only through that program. Sounds to me like they just want money. I just want to see a doctor. read more

I recently change insurance from PPO to HMO. I was assign a doctor from this facility, I called from the number they give you on your insurance card to make an appointment well I tried in a tried and I never got to talk to anybody so I went personally to the office from office I fill out a sheet then it took them about 2 weeks to give me a call back to schedule an appointment. So when they call me I told them specifically that I needed it in the morning, and she said sure I'll get back to you and I'll let you know the day and the time so they call me back with an appointment in afternoon so I call back and guess what no answer so I said OK whatever I need the appointment to see the Dr. so I was waiting for a package never arrived I go to the appointment without the package and guess what Dr. Did not see me because I didn't have a stupid package. So now I have to wait till they call me again to reschedule because front office can't reschedule me. read more

Updating my previous review of this practice. It has now become next to impossible to get an appointment within a reasonable time. They no longer answer the phone or return phone calls for several hours at best. If you need to be seen for anything that is urgent save yourself the headache and just go to the Med Stop. This appears to be a case of an office that has too many patients and too little help. Not sure if there are any physicians groups in this area that aren't this busy. read more

I recently switched my Mom,from this office for many reasons. The receptionist is horrible. Very unpleasant. My mother is the nicest person you will ever meet, and this woman can not even greet her kindly. I am also a receptionist, I would be fired for the attitude she has. Nurses are all very kind, no complaints there. Dr Jones needs to retire. Very disappointing care. Sometimes children of the elderly need a little guidance, not just a grin and a nod like tough shit, deal with it. I can't remark on any other Doctors, but we won't be going back. My Mom deserves better. read more

I am moving from the Central Coast after living here the past six years and one of my biggest regrets is leaving Dr. Malzone and the Arroyo Medical Group practice. Dr. Malzone has been my primary care provider for most of my time here. She is probably the most caring, attentive, thorough and effective physician I have ever had. I have the utmost confidence in her advice and treatments and never feel rushed in my office visits. She listens well and provides a written review of what has been covered at the end of each visit. The staff at AMG is always courteous and helpful. Marisa Ayers is an excellent physician's assistant who I have been able to see when Dr. Malzone is not available on short notice. In addition, the office has an online patient portal where I can message Dr. Malzone, Marisa or the medical assistant and get a response, usually within 24 hours. It has been a comfort to me, knowing that I can rely on Dr. Malzone and AMG for my health care. read more

I am with this group because I followed Dr. Ellman (Malzone) when she changed groups. I have been a patient of hers since 2008. She is the most thorough and compassionate doctor I have ever had. I have had my ups and downs with Arroyo Medical Group (trying to get an appointment) but I think they now have their act together. Tina, the PA is remarkable, friendly and professional. I have been going to Dr. Dewey Sandberg in this group for many years, and I consider myself blessed. Because of my late husband's position we moved quite a bit, so I have seen many physicians both here and in other cities. None of them compare with Dr. Sandberg. Because of his professionalism, concern, and compassion he is in a class by himself. Nearly 25 years ago, when he was on call for others in the old San Luis Medical Clinic, he accurately diagnosed a heart attack I had at 58 when it had been misdiagnosed by 3 other M.D's. I switched to his practice as soon as he had an opening. Ironically, 3-4 years ago when a specialist would not give me an appointment despite the same symptoms I had had years before, I called Dr. S. As a concierge patient I was seen that afternoon, and after an EKG, he sent me immediately to French Hospital, where I had another stent put in. The staff there told me he had saved my life. These are the dramatic incidents during my 24 years as his patient. Equally important in their entirety are the dozens of times he has accurately diagnosed problems and the calm, reassuring manner he shows whenever I see him. When I have had to see others in the practice for routine exams or injections, I was always well cared for also. I can describe Dr. Sandberg only in superlatives and the other medical personnel and support staff in this group are well-qualified as well. read more

I have been a patient for over five years. They are kind, cheerful and efficient. I love my doctor, Cary Fitchmun. I have the concierge service now. The money they make from that allows them to keep taking Medicare patients. My concerns are always taken seriously. They also cared for my mom when she was alive. Good people. read more

I have never met such a great receptionist before. If unable to answer my calls, she will get back to me quickly and make and appointment for me as soon as I can be seen. She is professional and very thorough. However the Drs have made a new rule that it doesn't matter if you have insurance that they are contracted with, if you pay into this Concierge program- you can be seen faster than people who don't. This practice is upsetting. read more
