I was familiar with the work of the gallery owner, Julie Dunn from a benefit show at the SLO Botanical Garden. I had gotten several of her vivid landscape tiles as presents for my friends. We were immediately greeted by Julie, who is very personable, and is the perfect person to represent the paintings and artworks on display in the gallery. They depict the lush landscape and creative crafts of local San Luis Obispo artists. The crafts also display a sophisticated level of work, along with a sense of humor that make this the perfect place to come select gifts for your friends, or for yourself! The gallery is located on the Cuesta College campus on Highway 1, halfway between San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay. It is adjacent to the Cultural and Performing Arts Center, locally known as CPAC. Due to the public health issues resulting from Covid-19, the gallery is currently closed. However online programming is continuing, as well as implementing an exciting, new program. On March 12, 2021, it was announced that the gallery will launch it's first vitual reality program in SLO County. The "VR-To-Go" program allows students & individuals an immersive experience of virtual reality at their own home via the check-out of a VR headset. The headset allows one to view selected films. One should check with the gallery regarding the procedure and participation of the virutal reality program series. What a great opportunity to experience & immerse one's self in alternative artistic endeavors.

Now I have to pay more attention to the shows that have been put in the gallery and attend more often. The art that was up the most amazing piece and I will post some pictures of it in a little while to show you. I just wonder how many other art displays I have missed the brochure I got shows that they're rotating the heart periodically and I can hardly wait to see what comes up next. I met with the gallery coordinator and the assistant coordinator and chatted with them and they were most cordial and most excited about art and the things that are coming up that they're hanging or the performance arts that are being done on campus. I think this is one worth following and checking out what shows they have and visiting. Parked kind of in front of the Performing Arts Center and don't forget to pay your two bucks for a parking pass and enjoy the show.

I had been to a similar place in Durham, NC a year ago and thought it would be so great to see a place like that in Paso. ArtSocial has a great selection of ready to go projects. I chose to paint a small bowl (pics to come if it turns out). I love crafty things, but sometimes my execution isn't the best. Their prices are more than reasonable. The staff was super helpful at explaining the process. Also, shout out to Vinyl Records, Moe's Pizza and our Community Manager Alex for making the even special.

I liked how when you walked in, it tells you a lot about history museums and how you can be aware of bias, and how one culture's works can be taken out of context (and literally taken, looking at you, British Museum). There was an interesting exhibit about all the different groups that settled in the San Luis Obispo area, what they were doing there, and what their experiences were like. I also liked the exhibit of old tools. Downstairs, there were some interesting historical photographs as well. Well worth the visit!
