This is a great place for a mommy daughter date, a bestie craft day, or just a peaceful crafting time. I actually had a work team building here and everyone LOVED it... so much so that they all want to go back. The staff is super friendly, they explain everything, they have a great selection of pottery to paint, and their prices are very fair. They give you all the tools you need to make a beautiful piece. It takes one week to glaze and have your item ready for pickup. Parking is a little iffy only because this is a busy parking lot packed with other businesses. read more

I went to Art from the Heart years ago when it was located in Downtown Dunedin and had a great time. The new location is even better because there is more room. Over the past couple months, my family and I have been multiple times and we always have a great time due to the great service and atmosphere. First off... why do they call this place a cafe, when they don't serve coffee‽ I walked in thinking it was like one of those shops in Japan where you order a coffee and sweets and then get to do a craft. This is only a ceramic painting shop, and occasionally they have canvas classes you have to sign up for in advance. Secondly I gave it three stars based solely that it has nice ceramics in the store. However the employee should have been much nicer to us. When I walked in I realised that I did not want to paint but but I did have the intention of buying ceramics to take home to paint at home myself (as I am an artist and know how without help... and we do not live so nearby that we can be back next week to pick anything up.) My husband had made a plan to leave me there to paint while he worked, as he brought us to this area on a business trip. I planned on just buying ceramics to take home... but it doesn't matter. The woman that was working, made assumptions she shouldn't have, decided to scold my husband when he came out of the bathroom. He went in to only use it as normal, but he had the emergency while walking into the bathroom, and an accident inside. I had called him and he told me and I grabbed him a change of clothes and a trash bag for the clothes he was sick on... we didn't know he was going to be sick, it happened out of nowhere. If the woman working there hadn't stopped him while he walked in, then he would have made it to the toilet beforehand, but she did and so he got sick the moment he walked into the bathroom and my husband cleaned it all up with the paper towels in there, as he was already embarrassed at what happened. When he walked out he apologised and told her that the bathroom needed to be mopped, that he cleaned it with the paper towels that were in there, but it be a good idea to give it a quick mop. She went on to make this comment that she never should have uttered. I had already apologised as well, as I had found out he was sick from the phone-call I had with him when I was looking to where he disappeared to, and told her that he had an emergency, that I was sorry and no I would not be painting... I did not mention that I would be buying some ceramics to take home with me, as that was my plan instead, as I was worried about my husband since he almost never gets sick. Her assumption was that we weren't going to spend money there... my idea walking in was I definitely want to buy some items. My husband literally drove 16 min specifically to make a purchase from your shop for me (he had planned to leave me to paint for a few hours while he went off to work, as we were in this town for his business). So because of her assumptions she told my husband something like: "next time go to the grocery store as they have many stalls and we only have the one for our customers only"... I didn't hear the rest as I was one of your customers as I had every intention to make a purchase, and most likely a large one for the inconvenience that was caused when my husband had all of a sudden become ill. However her comment was so negative towards him that he looked at me and said "f*ck it, never mind, let's go". NEVER EVER ASSUME ANYTHING, or it will make an Ass of You and me. Hopefully in the future she will do better and bite her tongue rather than offend a customer... because no one in the world can know when they are going to be sick out of no where, and what she should have said was "are you okay sir?" and had she done that you would have had my patronage for life, and a glowing review instead of this one. I nearly wouldn't have written anything at all today but charity is something that should be given to all equally, not just those you think you can make money off of. You never know who walks into your shop, and people with money to spend usually don't look like it. Just like that movie Pretty Woman... big mistake, Big, HUGE... Never treat anyone differently based on your own assumptions of them. I hope you all learn from this and manage to stay open, but unfortunately I will be taking our patronage elsewhere. read more

Great place! I took my daughter there to paint ceramics. Right away they welcomed us, and showed us how everything was set up for painting. We painted, and had a very enjoyable time! Just went to this place. There is a parking lot so free and easy parking. We met up with friends and they have tables set up and you just find a stop. I thought we would paint a canvas but it's pottery painting. There is lots of choices and they also can glue pieces together. Some got an animal and put it on a piece of square tile. They explain everything. The table is set up. The colors are numbered and lots of choices. They even have some tubes of Paint with needle like point to help write with paint or make dots which I used to make dots. We were there for 2 hours and spent quite a bit of money. It was pricey but my kids had lots of fun with the creativity. Would love to go back to do a canvas. They have a cake oof events and canvas classes are held at restaurant in Dunedin. read more

This establishment is a gem in downtown Dunedin. My wife and daughter love to come here and design their own cups, little starfish, and other various pottery pieces. They provide all the lottery, a plethora of paints, and the attendant is always friendly and helpful for advise, ideas, and encouragement. This past visit I came with my daughter and it was relaxing and enjoyable to witness my daughter's creativity. What an adorable place! Perfect activity for any age! Pick your object: anything from plates, nicknacks, to piggy banks and jewelry boxes. The prices are on the bottom and they vary by object, you pay for the oject and the paint is free. You get brief instructions on how to paint your object to your liking and orientation to all the paint and tools. There's help is you make a mistake or need tips. Take your time, enjoy the experience. Pick up your masterpiece a week later. This place has plenty of tables to accommodate a large group (I would try for a reservation for that) but normally you just walk in for the pottery painting. The hours are great, free parking available and there's a cafe right next door. They also have a painting on canvas, but that requires a reservation. Had such a wonderful time in this quaint studio.the lady's working we're both professional and approachable. They greeted every customer with a smile and treat you like they have known you forever. There was a child's birthday party going on the afternoon I was there, so it was a little loud, but not crazy loud. Even with the party, they were able to give each guest one on one help. They have a large selection of items to paint, colors to choose from and design idea nooks stencils and more. You do not have to be crafty to create a beautiful piece of work here. I am on vacation here or would go back weekly. The turn around for your pottery is one week. They also offer canvas paintings in their paint/ party room. Adorable, Cute, Fun Art Shop in the downtown area of Dunedin. It was very cold in Clearwater the day we decided to venture out to Dunedin and paint some pottery. Ms Z was very nice and friendly, very attentitive to detail and explaining how everything worked. Tuesday's are a great day to go, buy one get one sitting fee free. Our total for 3 pieces of pottery was $80. Seems fairly high, but we spent about two hours there and we will have pieces to last us a lifetime. Just be sure though, if you are not from the area, the pieces are not ready for a week, so make sure you plan ahead when painting the pottery. I highly recommend this place to anyone. read more

The last time I'd gone to a paint your own pottery place, I was in Girl Scouts. Needless to say, it had been a while. So one day, while my family was exploring Dunedin, we found this neat little pottery shop tucked to the side of the Broadway Deli. We were welcomed and very throughly introduced to how the process worked in such a way that my 5 year old had no questions left. Once we picked our pieces of pottery and selected paints, we hopped right to it. The folks running the shop stick around just in case you need help, and they are nothing short of understanding. With their patience and kindness you'd think they were kindergarten teachers in a past life. When we finished, we handed over our pieces and waited the week for them to be completed, via kiln. Seeing the look on my son's face when we came back was priceless. He was in love with his little sheep, and still is. That's the biggest reason that I can say with confidence... On vacation in Clearwater beach & we had a couple rainy days so we searched yelp for something to do & found Art from the Heart! This is a great activity for the whole family, our boys are 6 & 10 - they both loved it! Note that you need to apply 3 coats of paint so allow at least 2 hours. We started our project but only had an hour as the store was closing, so we returned the next day. We live out of state so they are shipping our projects to us. The staff was fantastic!!! This is our favorite pottery place hands down. First of all, it is in Downtown Dunedin, which is a whole lot of fun to visit. Second, their selection is terrific. They have all kinds of pieces to choose from. Their prices aren't too expensive. You can find things in there for just a few dollars up to around $50. The owner is super nice and always helpful. You can tell she loves her business. She's especially good with children. I love that they let you take the paint bottles to your table and prepare your own palate. The studio fee is reasonable, and they run specials throughout the week. The ambiance is relaxed and fun. After grabbing a snack at the coffee shop next door, I noticed this cute paint your own pottery sign. I wandered in just curious about the pricing. Turns out the studio fee was only $8! I was visiting the area on a business trip and had the remainder of my evening free from meeetings, so decided why not? I hopped inside, was guided through the process by a great host (unsure of the name-pixie haircut). You start off by choosing your craft pieces. They start from as low as $3 to $50. I chose a heart shaped ceramic piece $3 and a tea cup set $15. Next, your host goes over paint color selection, then arms you with the "idea" notebooks and stencils for the creatively challenged (ME!). She was VERY helpful and attentive. You can tell she's very passionate about her job. While I was there, there was another private party going on. They all loved it and talked about it being a great idea. Great for private, laid back GNO events, kids parties, mommy-and-me bonding, etc. you get the idea. Once you paint your pieces, it takes 1 week to burn the paint onto the ceramic. Since I was only in town for a few days, my host took down my shipping info and will be mailing them to my house in CA. Excited to see how it all turns out! I had an afternoon to explore the quaint town of Dunedin Florida and noticed a sign to Paint Your Own Pottery. I love this place. The owner, Jo is on premises and is a very gracious hostess. As a business owner myself I was impressed with the large variety of pottery to choose from and so many colors of paints. Jo has created a warm and inviting atmosphere with her help available whether you are just a beginner or expert.. This is so easy to do. Her Art From The Heart Cafe has free coffee and has large windows that fill the place with light.. Several mother and daughters came in ranging in all ages. What a great place for a bridal shower, childrens party (she has cows, frogs etc for the kids to paint) or ladies day out. I selected two dishes to paint and display at my winery in Virginia. There is a cafe next door so its easy to grab a lunch or try one of the great restaurants in town within walking distance..
