The Studio Gallery is owned by thirty seven local and professional artists. Studio is a member of the Galleries of Dupont Circle group. The group has an event called First Fridays which are held on the first Friday of every month. First Fridays are a time for people to see ten to twelve galleries (in the Dupont area) in one day. Studio hosts group and individual shows. It features up-and-coming and also established artists. Right now, the gallery is having a gift and holiday sale. Perfect for looking for a present for an art lover, or maybe a painting for that empty wall. The prices on this stuff is more than decent.

The gallery has a guestbook, two areas where people can buy art, and a single restroom in the back.

We've had fantastic service every time, and we're at the point where we pretty much just follow their framing recommendations. Their work is very thoughtful and intentional. For example, they preserved the original backing of the sampler with the names of all the women in the family back to 1818 in a special pouch design. I 100% would recommend this place for both the smallest jobs and the most important ones. The owner has a great eye for the frames. I've dropped off a number of posters and art and relied on his judgement and do not have a single reservation. I absolutely cannot recommend this place this enough.

There is an east wing, west wing, and an outdoor sculpture ground as well. Map layout is very clear and the exhibits are very well marked. Highly recommend if you get lost to ask a docent or one of the guards in the rooms. Often they will do special exhibitions featuring artists, so look online for the specific dates you are planning your visit for. Cafes and bathroom spread throughout the museum. Multiple gift shops. The main cafeteria is between the east and west wing on the basement and so is the main gift shop. Parking is paid on the street.

While the subjects were different people, the artwork had such a similar style that it all began to blend together. I don't even think I took any pictures. I've never seen so many portraits in one museum before. It felt like room after room was filled with similar-style paintings, and after a while, it became repetitive and honestly exhausting. I found myself rushing through many of the galleries, and at one point I was so bored I started hiding from my daughter while she explored. Don't get me wrong--the artistry is incredible. The painting techniques, attention to detail, and craftsmanship are truly impressive. My only criticism is that the sheer number of similar portraits made the experience feel monotonous. By the time I reached exhibits featuring other cultures and artistic styles, I was already experiencing museum fatigue, which made it harder to fully appreciate those collections. A little more variety throughout the galleries would have made the overall experience much more engaging.

It's open most days until the end of April and stays open pretty late. Definitely plan to spend multiple days viewing all of the art because it can be overwhelming. Came here to check out a friends artwork. This was my first time at Artomatic and I invited my…read morecousin who's in the art industry locally. We came during the week day after 5 to avoid the weekend crowd. There is a parking garage right next to the building at $7. Upon entrance, we are greeted by some of the local artists, get checked in with an armband and began to explore. There are 8 floors but we only did 4 of them (3, 4, 7 & 8) We started on the 4th floor so I can locate my friend's work first but went thru quite a few rooms along the way. The way Artomatic is set up which is an office building of about 50+ rooms per floor filled with artwork. Most of the volunteers were pleasant because we were so lost but this 1 guy who was sitting on the 4th floor with his volunteer shirt seemed disturbed when we asked him where a certain room was. It's quite confusing in there but you'll get use to it. We were told there were 2 open floors with artwork and entertainment which were 3 & 8. They serve alcohol & non alcoholic beverages and light snacks. We met a few of the artists while there as they were creating their own pieces. My cousin and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and I left inspired. One of the greeters told us there hadn't been an Artomatic event since 2017, so that is great for DC to bring them back. Will return to explore the other floors, it's a lot to take in and cannot all be done in one evening.
