I love how 20 people can paint the same subject but all 20 are unique and different!

I am so happy to have discovered this place and now I cannot wait to take another class! Attended yesterday's morning session with a group of 5 to celebrate a birthday. We took full advantage of the BYOB and brought breakfast snacks and mimosas. Our instructor, Allison, was excellent. She was very patient and laid back (and has good taste in music). We all had a great time. I love the friendly, non-judgmental environment of the studio. You make instant friends with others, and I would be very comfortable coming back here on my own (and plan to). You do not need to have any experience or artistic ability what-so-ever to take a class. They provide everything you need - smocks, paint supplies, canvas - all you need to bring is yourself and a good attitude!

We had an amazing experience! We were celebrating our anniversary so we did a couples Picasso painting of each other. The instructor was friendly, personable and very helpful. We cannot stop talking about this amazing experience and want to share it with others! We will cherish this experience and paintings!

Super cute place with fun to follow classes. I just attended the Starry Night paint class with a couple of friends. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because it was a little cramped and uncomfortably warm inside. Other than that it was a great time!

My friend, who is an artist, introduced me to this place, and she says that CAW has a strong reputation in the art community. I have zero art background, but I have taken drawing and photography classes here. All the teachers were friendly, enthusiastic, and well-prepared. I felt like I learned a lot and that the teachers were encouraging of beginners. They have a huge variety of classes here including cool stuff I'd like to try like metal sculpture. There are both short workshops (good for artists who are already well-versed in a topic but want to pick up a new technique) and longer classes. The cost is a little pricey, but well-worth it in my opinion. They also have an exhibition space and show really nice artwork there. This past summer, my friend and I went to see a juried show there and it was very good. The Creative Arts Workshop is a fantastic place to learn art and join an artistic community. I can't recommend it highly enough.

In the Perspective Drawing of Buildings and Architecture workshop, Eric March introduced strategies, gave students a chance to experiment, and consulted individually to discuss what works for each person and how to expand skills. His presentation was clear, and his comments were gentle and specific. For me, as a non-professional with some drawing experience, the class was engaging and informative - a delightful way to spend two afternoons. Being able to see and draw things from different perspectives makes drawing more fun and satisfying. As someone who ordinarily is more interested in life than buildings, I also realized the advantage of starting with boxier shapes, knowing that I can apply the same techniques to the animate world now that I have seen how they work. I highly recommend the workshop and other opportunities to work with Eric March.

Free admittance and free lockers are provided in the basement for our big purses, coats, and water bottles. We took their recommendation and started at the top on the 4th floor and made our way down. There are a lot of paintings so it took us awhile and we ran out of time. The museum closes at 5pm and we were only there for 90 mins.

The museum was designed by Louis Kahn, and the building is incredible. It's built around two interior courtyards and has a spiral staircase hidden inside a concrete cylinder. Its design includes travertine, white oak, and concrete. As with his other museum that I love (the Kimbell in Fort Worth), the lighting is incredible (the skylights are designed in such a way as to allow in the most possible light, but diffused to protect the art). I knew when we walked in that we didn't have long in the museum, so I asked a docent for the architectural highlights, and he was kind enough to steer us to the most special aspects and rooms of the building's design. But so you don't think the museum is just an empty building, I should mention the art!! Their permanent collection is interesting - the largest and most comprehensive collection of British art outside the UK. When we visited, the museum also had some interesting temporary exhibits: "Tracey Emin: I Loved You Until the Morning" and "J. M. W. Turner: Romance and Reality." It's a really beautiful museum - both the architecture and the art. I'd love to return when I have more time - to really enjoy the collection and not just the architecture next time! What a museum!
