Cathy remembered me and the exact dress I had my eyes on during my first visit. There were a couple hiccups with them ordering the wrong color of the dress, but they were very nice about it and made sure we got it in time to get in fittings before the wedding. Now with that said I can move onto why I rated them 4 stars. 1 - Extremely friendly, helpful and amazing customer service. I was greeted and taken care off from the time I walked in to the time I left. With a little space in between in order to allow me some privacy to shop. 2 - Their fashion choices are great with some variety! I love the variety of hang-bags, shoes, dresses, tops/bottoms, and jewelry galore to choose from. The quality in the clothes are good. Some of the items I would pass on but others I was impressed with. They accept only items that go back two years and are in excellent wearing condition. Although I wouldn't buy shoes that have been worn by anyone else, they have a huge selection of cute, designer shoes that are in great condition. Many of the jewelry selections are contemporary with a hint of '60's' and '70's' flare. 3 - The decor' of the shop is nice! Nice designs on the walls, pictures and nicely dressed models. The place is kind of small but not over-crowded like some other consignment shops I've been in to. The racks are not crowded and overwhelmed with clothes so it's easy to actually see the clothing without having to pull it off the rack. 4 - Sales! There are particular items specially marked down so just check the tags and find out which ones are on sale. I went two days in a row because on the second day they were having a customer appreciation day with free food and lot's of mark downs. This was a really great way for me to experience what shopping is like on an ordinary day compared to a sale event. The mark downs were great and the prices made it much easier to buy what I needed. All the ladies were very knowledgeable in the products. They gave me so much information about everything that I was encouraged to sign up with their frequent newsletter to stay updated and receive special perks they have to offer. Tess World Designs is a new shop in Decatur dedicated to African fabric and accessories. Due to…read moretheir success on Etsy, they recently made the leap to brick and mortar. They're located in the downtown shopping district, about a five minute walk from the Decatur MARTA Station. The bold patterns and pops of color in the window caught my eye as I was driving down E. Ponce de Leon. I circled back, parked on the street and went inside to explore. They have a variety of merchandise: African print fabrics Masks and wood pieces Woven bowls Jewelry Purses, backpacks and sandals Wraps and scarves Kente and Greek graduation stoles A few racks are filled with ready-made men's and women's clothing but fabric is really their forte. Hundreds of beautiful swatches line the walls. Most prints are $7 a yard but the silks go for $12.50 a yard. Since I haven't ticked "learn to sew" off my bucket list yet, I felt in over my head looking at all that cloth. Fortunately, they have contact info for seamstresses so once I have a pattern I can choose the fabric and get something made. It might make sense for them to sell patterns but since they don't I'll need to find one elsewhere. Anyway, I left with a cowrie shell necklace for the boy and two pieces of jewelry for myself. I loved several of their fabrics and hope to be back for one soon. Tess World Designs is a great addition to the Decatur shopping district.

Sometimes, you just never know what you might find in these stores so I ventured inside to take a look around. The clothing in this store is just very cheap and tawdry,( very tight and short dresses, mini tops sheer tops and dresses). Much of it should not be worn outside of one's home, but to each his own. If you like "hooker heels" (very tall in gold, hot pink etc), this is the store for you. They had it all but The store is rather large and also has a section for men, (the store next door). The men's selection was urban as well but more tasteful with a nice selection of colored and patterned shirts. They also carried shorts, jeans and hats. I liked the men's colorful shirts with matching hats and think that they are a great statement for summer. I would definitely recommend the men's wear but ladies look elsewhere. You deserve better.
