Our teacher, Sabrina, was very helpful and patient when showing us the different techniques and would walk around to encourage each of us. The studio is so cozy and the perfect setting for enjoying a glass of wine while painting. Nancy, the owner, was also there to help with painting instructions as needed and helped at the bar area for snacks and beverages. The energy was so fun and positive. I love that this is a woman-owned small business and encourage other patreons to support them! Went Wednesday night with a friend to "paint your pet". You…read moreemail them a photo of your pet, they sketch it on canvas, and you paint it! It's one of the best classes I've seen out there since the painting is so personalized. It's also a bit more expensive than other classes because of the extra work that goes into it ($50). I think this class is better suited for people who have painted a couple times, or more. Next time I'll try a class where we're all painting the same thing, so it's harder for me to mess up. When all the pets look so different, it's hard for them to help you mix paint colors and walk you through every step. Some of the paintings were AMAZING and you could definitely tell these people had inherent artistic skills. People were looking at mine and smiling politely... haha. My painting is no masterpiece, but it sorta-kinda looks like Izzy. My fiance laughed at it when he saw it, but it was the first painting I've ever done! The instructor was helpful, and she went around to everyone giving them pointers and tips. The class included a drink, and they had little appetizers (mini meatballs, cheese, crackers, grapes, peanut M&M's!!!!!, hummus). It's a really cute space, and a fun thing to do with friends. It was a very relaxing experience, totally open-minded, and a lot of fun! Highly recommended to anyone in the greater Denver area for a visit to try the "open studio". I was surprised that the cost was so low when let you take your canvas with you, which is moderately sized. This would be an absolute blast to come with a group of ~10 people. They have a "paint your date/mate" night - where you can do a portrait of the person you come with. Sounds like a blast - I fully hope to get back there. Beer/wine is available for purchase too, at less than restaurant prices. My only complaint, is that it's hard to find. If you enter from the main street, there's minimal street presence. There's a small sign out front, so don't look for a large window near their address. You need to follow down a hallway before you arrive at the studio. I think it's possible to get there faster from the back side of the studio? Anyway - give yourself time when trying to find the studio. I was surprised to see that other reviews posted were less positive. Reaction to other reviews: --"better suited for someone with painting experience": I've never painted before, and was entirely not intimidated by the environment. I felt no qualms trying funky patterns! --"cancelled birthday party": this definitely sounds like a nightmare. My experience was very unstructured (dropping in to an open studio), so this was not a problem. The staff was very friendly and provided help whenever needed.

Her work is really beautiful, and she's excited about painting which made it fun. That is why I gave her 3 stars. The negatives were that the venue is truly a wine bar- not a painting studio, call me "old"- but the tables are so low it's not a good position to be sitting in for several hours. As well, Yulia's phone rang throughout the whole session (completely unprofessional), and at times she took the calls and stepped away from the teaching. Additionally, she was up and down the stairs and in and out of the back room throughout the whole session. Seemed as though she had better things to do than teach our class. I understand it's a startup, and I'm very much in support- but from the outside perspective it seems she's trying to do too much at once instead of focusing her effort on making her customers' experience a good one. I don't plan on going back, but do wish Yulia the best, and believe if she focuses on her current customers her future customers will come!

I like that The Paint Cellar has more than just canvas options and they provide all the supplies (and more) to allow everyone to channel their inner Bob Ross. Clients pick their project and the price (which varies from $35-$55) includes sipping some of Colorado's finest adult bevvies. This is absolutely perfect for date night, girls night out, or even a birthday party outing. Masks are required except at the painting table. Each table is appropriately distanced and cleaned well between each session.

It would have been nice if a hair dryer had been available so that the pauses for some people waiting for stuff to dry could have been accelerated. The staff was friendly. The house wine and basic beers were only $3 each, and they went down very easily. I would gladly come back here again.
