We joined the Arthur Murray studio in Orange a few weeks ago. We had taken lessons over 25 years ago from another studio for our wedding but life intervened and we put dancing on the back burner. Now with kids grown we have more time and my hubby suggested we try dancing again. We are loving getting back into it and love this studio. The staff is great - the instructors clearly love to dance and are so patient and helpful with new dancers. We have also enjoyed meeting the other students -- so many friendly and welcoming people. Taking private lessons entitles students to take unlimited classes and to attend their Friday night dance parties. The dance parties are so much fun. The instructors are always grabbing students to get them out on the floor. Some of the more seasoned students also do the same. Yes the lessons are expensive, but you can map out your own program based on your budget and time available. The students tend to be older which is fine for us since we're in that age bracket, but there are some younger, very enthusiastic students who are quite happy to grab just about anybody (including the novices) and get them out on the floor to dance. I've waited a to post a review. My wife and I started lessons in the summer of 2021 and can honestly say - even though we are terrible dancers, everyone at Arthur Murray has been above and beyond helpful in our improvement. I had a ton of anxiety before attending classes, but everyone (especially Melanie, Javi, Oscar, Tommy, everyone really) really goes out of their way to make it a positive experience. Dance went from being an absolutely anxiety fear inducing experience to something that is actually fun. I still have a long way to go, but I am thankful to everyone at Arthur Murray for helping me overcome one of my biggest fears. My boyfriend and I have been wanting to take a dance class together for the longest and happened to find this place on Groupon. We took advantage of their promotion for 2 private dance classes at 40 minutes long, to learn some ballroom dancing. We are both beginners and this was our first dance class ever! I for one, am not a dancer by any means, I am definitely the one with the 2 left feet and can barely keep up with Zumba classes.. But we had such an amazing time and learned so so So much more than we had expected all thanks to our teacher Anthony. Anthony was patient, super encouraging and really had a way of explaining things where you just get it. I cannot stress how seriously amazing he was; I mean the whole staff here was super and you can really tell they love what they do. My husband and I took our wedding dance lessons here. My husband doesn't consider himself a performer but his skills and confidence improved immensely and our wedding first dance went perfectly! We took one initial class, and then signed up for the 10 class package, which we spread out over every other week for about 5 months. We only got to attend a couple of the parties but they were both very fun everyone is always so nice and encouraging. I specifically requested a dance routine, and on each lesson, we worked on the routine that Oskar came up with, as well as learning rumba, swing, and a bit of waltz and tango. We loved working with Oskar as he is very patient, encouraging, and funny! We also worked with a few other instructors when he wasn't available, and they were all very nice and helpful in giving us tips for improvement on our routine. From the beginning, the experience has always been super pleasant, and my husband and I have gained so much more confident on the dance floor. Had a great experience taking a wedding dance lesson. Professional teacher who showed us great moves on the spot and pretty much put together our entire first dance in moments. Just recently I was inquiring about dance lessons. I have been shopping around and I will have to say that the level of professionalism was top notch. From the time I called to schedule a meeting, to the time I left. I felt as if I were the only student at the studio and that my best interest was at hand. The entire staff was very informative and not over pressuring. Yes the cost may be a bit more than other studios but you get what you pay for. I personally prefer quality over quantity. This is definitely what this studio and staff are about. The more you give, the more they give, and in return you gain great success. I am so looking forward to my next lesson!! read more

I have been a part of Arthur Murray Orange studio for over two years. I love this place. They have the best instructors in the business. All of them love to dance, teach dance, and continue to be trained by best dancers in the world. One private lesson with Arthur Murray includes any and all group lessons that are scheduled in advance on a monthly basis. Every Wednesday and Friday after the group class, each student has an opportunity to dance w/ every instructor to practice what you have learned. This "dance party" goes on for more than an hour on Fridays. Dancing is the best therapy for stress relief and Orange Studio is the best Therapist you can find in Orange County! read more

I was a student there for over a year... maybe two. Most of the crowd are older folks that can afford to easily spend $200+/wk for dance lessons. Each "private" lesson is over $100. They can be good at pressuring you to purchase more lessons. The actual lessons - About 45 mins. About a third to half the time they end up talking to you, making conversation and try to sell you or sign up for their upcoming events. They try to sell you to buy more lessons if you sign up for an event... They always make up a reason to get you to buy more lessons. Some instructors are good, some are not as good. Depends who you get. They're all really nice. But in the end you get about 30 mins of actual lesson time. I can go on and on about their sales tactics... I feel like I was buying a car sometimes. They try to sell you packages. They try to get you to learn as many styles as possible so they can sell you more lessons. Overall, they're expensive dance lessons. There's plenty of other studios that will charge you less. Would I go back? Probably not. It's possible to cancel your contract within a year but it's like pulling teeth. read more

We have taken dance lessons at a number of different places, but nothing really clicked until we discovered these folks. They know what they are doing, and do it very well. The environment is relaxed and pleasant and the instructors are extremely good. Regardless of how many left feet you have (and I have more than one), these folks will teach you how to dance! Yes, the price is high, but it takes a lot of time and effort to teach dance effectively, so that it will stick. They have a syllabus that has been developed over many years. It works! read more

My fiance and I just finished our very first ever dance lesson. We are practicing for our first dance as husband and wife. We didn't know what to expect or have any expectations. We walked in and were immediately greeted by Charisma. She was very warm and welcoming. Our amazing instructor Anthony then walked around the corner with the biggest grin on his face, eager and excited to teach us. Anthony lead my fiance and I into his office to review my choices of first dance song and helped us decide which song fit with which style of dance. His advice was greatly appreciated! We picked the perfect song and he styled it with the perfect type of dance. We got out to the dance floor and started right away. Anthony was so patient and so kind through the entire appointment. We had previously tried several private dance studios and never really felt comfortable. I really feel like we have found a "home" at Arthur Murray in Orange. The dance lessons, whether they are group or private, are all consistently fun, friendly and very professional. No matter your ability-- you will progress and learn. The dance packages are not inexpensive but if you take full advantage of all the offerings every week you will more than get your money's worth. Their dance curriculum is well thought out and truly enables every student to progress to the best of their ability. I'm new to the Arthur Murray Orange Studio, but have been to other studios and find it a fun place to learn to dance. The staff is friendly, encouraging and well trained. Other students I have talked to enjoy learning and dancing here. I believe this is one of the older Arthur Murray studios in Orange County and there are a few advanced students; which is nice for inspiration and practicing learned steps. The studio holds "practice partys"; which is a good opportunity to practice what was taught with other people than your instructor. Everyone is friendly and it's easy to ask anyone to dance. This is a business, so there will be discussions of lesson purchases. I didn't feel pressure to buy lessons and was told "to do what's best for you". There is plenty of opportunity to spend money and there are all sorts of events to go to that are preplanned: from trips to big competitions in several major cities to small local studio competitions. I've been to both types and they are exciting to see and participate in; it pushed me to the envelope in what I thought I would/could do and I feel like a better person for doing it. Would I recommend this studio? Yes, but I suggest knowing which dances you want to learn because they will show you several that you will not know, then want to learn. Oh! I have been on business travel and found I can go to any Arthur Murray and feel welcome and dance with anyone. It's a great way to spend free time. read more

I have been a student at the Arthur Murray Orange studio for almost two years, yet I feel like I have been there for most of my life...that may be because I spend a great deal of time there, five days a week to be exact. The studio is bright, welcoming, and bustling with excitement. The staff is consistently friendly, attentive, supportive, and engaging. I guess you can say that I'm a satisfied customer, but that would be a bit of an undestatement. Upon taking my first step into the studio, I was greeted with warmth and enthusiasm. The staff had never seen me before, I had no promise of being a recurring student, of making any sort of purchases from them...for all they knew, I could have been trying to sell them Girl Scout cookies, and yet everyone in the room took the time to greet me like they would an good friend. I noticed this pattern of behavior with every person that walked into the room. The staff does an amazing job of making sure that every student feels welcome and at ease in their presence. My first lesson - I was asked to fill out some papers detailing what I kind of results I expected from taking dance lessons, what personal goals I had, and why I was interested in taking dance lessons. Every student is given a personalized program designed to help them meet and excel the goals they set for themselves. The instructors look at each student as individuals, rather than as a collective group of people they must show a box-step to. As an Arthur Murray student, you are guaranteed to feel looked after, and you are definitely guaranteed to notice improvement in your own dance abilities. Within my short time at the studio, I am continuously amazed at the progression I have noticed in my dancing as well as that of others. Reality check - dance lessons at the studios are not the least expensive things in the world, but here's something to think about: every student has the opportunity to withdraw their contract and walk out, yet look around at the vast amount of students who don't. Some have been students at Arthur Murray for more than ten years, they know full well how much money they are spending, and yet they stick around. I myself am not in a great place financially, yet because of the amazing quality of service I receive, and because of how Arthur Murray has become such an important part of my life, I find a way to make it work. No one is being forced into anything they don't want to do. The staff is extremely considerate of students' financial situations, and they will work with you to find some way of making sure you are comfortable with your program. Overall, if someone had stopped me before I had first walked into Arthur Murray and told me how much money I could save by choosing another studio, I'd still choose Arthur Murray at every opportunity. read more

after several years of my husband and i saying that we should take dance lessons (so we would both know what the heck we were doing during those sporadic social engagements that include dancing opportunities) we signed up for an introductory dance class and have enjoyed several classes since. our main instructor, melanie, is an absolute sweetheart with an inspiring spirit. there have been evenings that we come in completely exhausted from work; but melanie's motivating attitude perks us right up and we're always grateful for the boost we experience in both the practice and the interaction. everyone behind this studio is equally engaging, warm, and wonderful. from the studio team, to the students, it is a wonderful community full of camaraderie. we are enjoying our lessons, and are learning steps that can be incorporated in a myriad of genres. the steps are coming to us more easily, and we're looking forward to opportunities wherein we can exhibit what we've learned. read more

We just finished 3 private lessons with Kristen and she was amazing. She was very patient and listened to our needs, as we are preparing for our wedding and we wanted to have a very simple, yet classy first dance. With 3 classes, she was able to build a whole routine for us and worked around our busy schedule. The manager at the studio was not pushy at all and worked with our budget. The only downside is that there is not enough space for all the students that practice. At times, it was hard to go around the dance floor and you have to wait for your turn becfore your music gets played. All in all, we recommend this place. We went to learn how to dance for our daughter's wedding. We have not danced in public and were very much apprehensive thinking about dancing. Our instructor, Kristen, is very sweet, patient, and listened to our concerns. We now have 3 good dance steps to work with and are happy. The studio does try to encourage you to come back for more, but it is a business, so we understand. I would recommend it to others who need a good base to start dancing. My BF and I tried it out a couple of weeks ago and were very impressed with how professional, helpful and really friendly the staff and instructors all were.The studio is right off the 55 Fwy and very easy to find. I'd never been to a dance studio before so I didn't know just what to expect but the studio was pretty good sized, had the requisite mirrors, lights and a good sound and speaker system with decent music. Most of the students seemed to be over 40, but there were also a number of high school / college age kids there too. The lessons were each about 45 minutes long then there was another either Group Lesson or Party Time of about the same length too ~ just the right length of time. I really needed some help on the dance floor and our instructor (Tommy) was terrific ~ made me feel right at ease, gave both of us his undivided attention and before I knew it, I was a "Dancing Queen" He was patient, seemed like a good dancer himself and gave excellent direction and instruction ~ and even made my BF want to dance! We'd gotten the classes through Groupon and fully expected that we'd get pressured into taking more classes. Seriously, that would be pretty normal. But we were delightfully surprised that we got virtually no pressure at all. Amazing. We had so much fun and were so impressed with our progress that we actually practiced at home and made plans to go dancing in public!
