The moment you walk in the door you feel like you are in a giant dance because each team member flows as if they are in a dance with their beauty and grace. To sign up, you must purchase private lessons and within the package, you are invited to attend group dance classes as well. There are typically at least two private sessions going on at any given time along with a group session. Throughout our six sessions, we were paired with three different instructors - Austin, Ben, and Mitchell who were all 5-star professionals. We have primarily danced with Austin in our private lessons and working with him is such a pleasure. He asks questions like are you here to become a professional? For a big event coming up? Or for fun? Either way, all team members treat you with the utmost respect as this is their chosen craft. They are attentive to every part of their student's body to set you up for success to be the best dancer you can be. In our first group dance class, there was myself, my partner, and two other pairs of partners there. This is a great part of training for dance because you rotate partners around the class and therefore learn to take smaller or larger movements based on your new partner. Pro-tip for parking: park on N Marshfield Ave after 6 PM for free parking. I can always find a spot there - it is a quiet side street. read more

My fiancé and I came to Arthur Murray for help putting together a wedding dance for our first dance. We were partnered with the loveliest of instructors, who is always upbeat and encouraging, which is just what we needed as newcomers to the world of dance. We could only afford the beginner's package which consists of four dances, but they allow us to add on individual classes down the road if we need a refresher prior to wedding day. I would suggest that you do not support this studio. From my understanding, they have their dance instructors sign a two-year non-compete which essentially prevents them from making a livelihood if they want to leave due to misalignment with management or company values. If I am wrong, I am more than willing to remove this review based on managements response. read more

Couples getting married - would not recommend coming here for dance lessons. We received gift cards to take wedding dance lessons here and used a couple of lessons a few months prior to the wedding without issue. However we booked an appointment the week of our wedding to remind us of what we had learned but when we arrived they told us they didn't actually book our appointment in their system and couldn't accommodate us. They offered us other times that evening that would not work for us as we had already rearranged things and taken off work to make this appointment and since it was the week of our wedding we couldn't just reschedule. Now we're 2 days away from our wedding and can't remember the dance so a waste of our time and our gift cards will go to waste. read more

Exactly three months ago I was walking to Target after my laptop crashed when I though about dance. I used to do ballroom dancing at Fred Astaire back in 2016 that I loved but after they moved deep into the suburbs and I moved to a new place deeper in the city, I couldn't continue there. Walking down Peterson, I thought about checking out some local ballroom dance studios. I googled ballroom and Arthur Murray Lakeview showed up. I though why not, let's try and reach out to them. The owner, Amy replied to me right away. I was skeptical about doing classes via zoom without a partner since I only had experience with partner dancing but figured why not try. My first instructor was Daniela. I don't know how but she made dance zoom lessons extremely enjoyable and even though I never met her in person I felt like she was able to reach out to me through the screen. I did my first showcase with Arthur Murray recording a salsa to one of my favorite songs, and Amy put mine and Daniela's videos side by side when it was shown via Zoom event. Since then I met Daniela in person and had a chance to do in person lessons with her. Since I wasn't comfortable with having any physical contact yet, we used a bunch of different tools to ballroom dance, which made the whole experience so unique and fun. When I first met Amy, she told me that the most important thing is for me to have fun and her and her staff will do their best to make sure that I do. Amy is a great studio owner since from my short time knowing her I never felt like I was pressured into doing something. I was given opportunities and was free to choose what to do and if I want to do it at all. When i first met her I felt extremely welcomed and she made me feel comfortable even though we all have to wear masks, and I never met her before. I could tell that she was smiling through her mask and was sincerely excited to see me. On top of being a studio owner I learned that she is an instructor, a judge and skilled video editor. Since starting taking in person lessons I now I have two wonderful instructors Ben and Annie. Annie is very creative and I really enjoy all the exercises she gives me. Coming from a European family I was taught to pay attention to details in everything I do and I am so glad that Annie finds creative ways and metaphors to make me understand the dance technique. It's also really fun to dance with her as she has a gift to turning even dances I don't really into something enjoyable. My other instructor Ben is great. He is very engaged in all of my lessons and gets excited when I learn a new move or realize that I love a certain dance, like Samba. He is very friendly and I am never hesitant to ask question. For recent Arthur Murray event, Ben and I did a Tango routine. The studio owner, Amy had a brilliant idea to record in at the Train stop which I was beyond excited about. The whole experience of making the routine and filming it on the train platform was probably one of the biggest highlights for me this year. We've walked past it for years but didn't make the plunge into dancing until we saw a couple tearing up the dance floor at a wedding and realized "we want to be them." We came in with the goal of having people say "dude, that was awesome" - but we're getting so much more out of it than that. It's a highlight of the week to look forward to something that's entirely ours, and a foundational skill that we'll take with us for the rest of our lives. I always, always leave the studio feeling happier and more confident than when we walked in. We're absolutely thrilled and couldn't be happier with every element of our experience. They go above and beyond to care for each of their students. As my boyfriend says (and I cannot emphasize enough what a surprise this was to me) - "money doesn't buy you happiness but I can get you lessons at Arthur Murray and that's just about close enough." Bottom line: We love it. Stop reading reviews. Call the studio ASAP and invest in your own happiness. P.S. I was hesitant to take dancing lessons, but my partner loves to dance, and I thought I'd score some brownie points with her if I signed us up. To my surprise I loved it from day one. After my first lesson with Daniela, I was hooked. She and everyone there (Greg, Amy, Ben) have been warm and welcoming and patient, and I now look forward to our weekend lessons. Most surprising of all is the fact that I now actually like to dance. I can't say enough how wonderful everyone is here. Had a great time taking lessons for our first dance here. The instructors are all super personable, remember you and take the time to get to know you, and know what they're doing and how to best teach it to you. Daniela and Isaac have been especially great to work with! The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because of the pressure to purchase more lessons at every single lesson. Each one ends with a sit down chat with someone who tries to sell the value of dancing after the wedding and as a lifetime activity, but all we want to do now is just learn our dance and not be stressed about something else. read more

Daniella is wonderful! We had so much fun taking dance lessons in preparation for our 1st dance. It was a great decision for my then-fiance and I as dancing does not come naturally to either of us. She thought of everything and gave such helpful tips. For example, she taught us to make the most of our end-of-song dip in order to make a photo opportunity out of it, which turned out to be one of my husband's favorite photos of the entire night. Taking dance classes was always something I wanted to do but really had no idea which style I would like the most or where to start. The team at this studio really did an amazing job of walking me through them through mini lessons so I could focus on what I was enjoying the most.
