The Downtown Wine Walk is an annual event and fundraiser for Downtown Bellingham. For an admission fee (this year it was $25) participants are given a souvenir glass to take to various locations and get a pour of their fave red, white, rose, or sparkling wine. It's a fantastic chance to stroll the streets of downtown with friends, experience some new businesses, and (of course!) enjoy tasty wine. This year was my first year participating and I had such a great time! I even found a bunch of businesses I hadn't ever visited, and ended up buying a few bottles of the featured wines (they are all available for sale at Vinostrology for easy one-stop post-event shopping). The event does get quite busy and doesn't last long, and lines were VERY long by the time it got going, so word to the wise: start early!

Rudest owner on the island…read more If you enjoy being barked at by an agitated dog while the owner mocks your concerns, this is the place for you. We went out of our way to visit this winery, only to be met with total hostility. The owner's refusal to leash his incredibly obnoxious dog is irresponsible, but his attitude toward us was the real dealbreaker. My mother in law has been bit in the past, and was so uncomfortable. Plenty of other spots on Orcas Island actually value their customers, skip this one. The dog chased our car on the way out.
