They were also friendly but left us alone while we tasted - the perfect mix. If there were a 4 & 1/2 star option, I would've given them that. For $10, you are presented a selection of 6 wines - 1 white, 4 red, and 1 red or dessert wine. The selections are presented in cute carafes, and you are free to choose one of their lovely outdoor picnic tables with a great view of the area, or sit indoors if that's more your speed. It looked like there was some charcuterie available for purchase, but based on the increasing number of folks that pulled up throughout the afternoon, there was a strong trend of BYOS (bringing your own snacks). The Downtown Wine Walk is an annual event and fundraiser for Downtown Bellingham. For an admission fee (this year it was $25) participants are given a souvenir glass to take to various locations and get a pour of their fave red, white, rose, or sparkling wine. It's a fantastic chance to stroll the streets of downtown with friends, experience some new businesses, and (of course!) enjoy tasty wine. This year was my first year participating and I had such a great time! I even found a bunch of businesses I hadn't ever visited, and ended up buying a few bottles of the featured wines (they are all available for sale at Vinostrology for easy one-stop post-event shopping). The event does get quite busy and doesn't last long, and lines were VERY long by the time it got going, so word to the wise: start early!

My husband got the strawberry rhubarb cider, and I got a flight with 5 ciders and 1 mead. All of them were excellent. We especially loved the cranberry and rhubarb ones. We got to meet the owners and cider makers. Super sweet and friendly. We hope to come back up and visit again someday!

The lunch was buffet style- two types of lasagna, biscuits, honey butter, Caesar salad, red grapes and cookies. It was very tasty. The scenery was gorgeous and it was a nice sunny day. Unfortunately the whales and orcas were playing any and we didn't see any during the entire cruise- we did see a harbour seal when leaving port, a quick glimpse of a harbor porpoise for a split second, harbor seals on rocks from a far distance and two sea lions on a red buoy... so we got cards to book at 50% discount for a future booking with the company. We also got 10% off coupons for the fish and chips place and gift shop inside the Bellingham cruise terminal. There were two bathrooms on board. I have to say if you're looking for an intimate experience with a handful of people this is not the cruise for you. We had a Thursday cruise that had about 60 people on board and felt like there were a lot of people... I was told the boat could have up to 120 passengers in which case it would have been absolutely jammed with people. I was glad we only had the number on board that we had. All in all it was a lovely day on board- you cannot dictate nature and they held up their promise if we didn't see whales. They also had some binoculars available if you gave them collateral- I had a set for the entire cruise.
