fairly miserable experience. went in to buy a frame and matting prepared to spend as much as it…read moretook and to be a repeat customer since i have prints regularly to frame. clerk was fairly short w me and showed me a selection of ready made frames, i asked if they had larger frames she said no. she didnt offer the framing desk. i could see they clearly made frames and had to push to ask what process was to frame. she said it was an appt process and i couldnt schedule now w person behind framing desk, so i said ok id schedule online. her friend came in directly after me and asked if they had larger frames and she then directed her and walked her back to the framing desk to speak to the clerk she had just said i couldnt speak to and they brought out several large frames- one exactly like i was looking for- and then put a few on hold saying shed only get one. i was still standing right there and she did all this in front of me. she didnt acknowledge or apologize that shed done several favors for her friend in front of me that id just asked for as a new customer. so it was just weirdly rude on several levels. the framing person was nice enough to apologize because i spoke to her after the clerk left, but said there was nothing she could do. really really weird experience and im not inclined to return based on how rude that whole exchange was.

We stopped by his studio and he showed us quite a bit of his paidntings, not only that, he was extremely accommodating when we talked about commissioning a painting and he did an amazing job with it, we actually commissioned a second one. I understand he also has t-shirts and cards as well with some of his works. Absolutely worth stopping by his studio if you are in Stowe or check out his website. I am sure his paintings will be worth a lot in the future!

The shop also carries a little bit of local merch and some fun extra gifts. One thing I really appreciated was the affordable postcards, which is important to note because they are up-charged at some surrounding stores. I ended up grabbing a few, plus a fun magnet, and they also had a couple local art prints. The inside is super charming, a cozy, feel-good stop whether you're looking for a new read or just a small souvenir.

I typically make online purchases, but with ONCE UPON A TIME TOYS, how could I avoid it? I love the store name, and it was right there in front of me in quaint, charming Stowe, VT, so I went in. There were a great many unique toys, games and children's gift ideas at this store, but it was overwhelming to me. The sales associate was very friendly, so I asked her what she'd recommend for a 1 year old girl and something "Spiderman" for my 4 year old grandson. She immediately presented me with a cloth doll, and a little boat with Spiderman in it that when wound up in water (like in a bathtub), it would zoom across the water. I took them both !! My granddaughter was interested for a few minutes and moved on to something else because she's only 1. I'm quite certain the little doll will have greater appeal to her as she gets older. My grandson was soooooooo taken with his Spiderman boat that he broke it before getting to test it out in the actual water. He's 4, and listening to directions is not part of his skill set yet, lol.
