My BFF Deborah and I went to Artistic Obsessions new location at 8319 Bell Creek Road today. I had drawn what I wanted and so did Deborah. Mine is Heart Shaped Balloons with pastel colors with 316 in the 3 Balloons. Jonathan was excellent truly knows how to put you at ease especially since this was my first Tattoo it was similar to one that my precious Robert had on his arm, but I added the 316 for my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Deborah got a Dainty Cross with a heart in the middle with wings beside the heart with blue in the wings. Anna was the Tattoo artist that did Deborah's art, Deborah knew Jonathan that did my art on my back. They were both very professional and personable and friendly with both of us. Thank you both for not rushing us and helping us be comfortable in the Tattoo shop. Went in for a small finger tattoo. Was told I could not get what I wanted (a name), but I could get initials. Three letters versus four letters. I had no idea it would take so long. It was not crowded. He had to take a smoke break during my session. Very unprofessional. My husbands finger tat looks like a blob. Again, a smoke break mid-session. I get it for a large tattoo, but a three letter finger tat?! We made an appointment to go back for a touch up and add on. Got there ahead of appt. time. A walk in came in at same time, my husband held the door for her. The walk in was taken ahead of us. Forty-five minutes later we were still waiting for our scheduled appt. Never again. i am giving a 1 because that is the lowest I can! These people are scam artist. In September I designed a tatoo for my birthday and went in to talk to Daniel who did my first tatoo. He wasn't available so a young guy told me he would give my idea to Daniel and have him draw it up and email it to me. They told me that I needed to leave a 100 deposit to secure an appointment-so I did. I received a text message from the younger guy a few weeks later asking me to change my appointment so I did. I told him I still had not heard from Daniel to give the final approval on my tatoo. He said he would have Daniel call me- never did! thank you A week later I drove by the shop and they were all standing outside smoking- i asked the young guy if they had a pic drawn up yet and he showed me a partial picture because it was not finished. My appointment was Nov 19 21- the DAY before my appointment I still had not received a picture or payment information. I call to the shop and they tell me my tatoo is 300.00- I told them I wanted to Cancel the appointment. I had been waiting since Sept 27th for a final pic and details and still had not received. I asked for my deposit back and they said NO. I asked to speak to the manager and they said she was at lunch to call back- when I called back they said she was at Office Depot. I asked them to have her call me-STILL NO CALL! My sister and I went into the shop the next day- asked for a manager and was given a card for a man!!! These people are JOKES!!! Save your money because they are scams!!! read more

This is the worst shop ever! Finally I thought wen I discovered them here in Hanover & they are over priced & under qualified! The worst 2 tattoos by 2 diff artist I have on me & there's a lot. The young guy put a verse on me & in a year it blead all together. It's on him to know what's appropriate size to last & he scarred me everywhere which left patches w/no color. Now for there attitude, sucks & they need good customer service! I kno they couldn't be making $. You guys are on a planet of idiots & u could have really made this shop something! I just read how y'all kept someone's $100 to reserve a time & no tart & no refund, calling her names. Don't go here, if richmond seems too far then dnt get a tart. Simple as that. I got my first tattoo on Friday, and Devante (DRT) did a fantastic job. My Marine Corps EGA has fantastic detail, it's the best one I've ever seen. He also did a cross for my wife, she showed him an example of what she wanted, and he went away and came back with exactly what was in her head! He is a a great artist and can take what you tell him and turn it into something you'll want to get put on your body. The place is clean, and everyone who works there seem like good guys, and very artistic as the name implies. You don't want a tattoo from someone who doesn't have a high standard for their work, these guys do. I'm already thinking of the next one! read more

Only rating as a 1 Star because less is not possible. Went in to inquire about a small tattoo for my wife (her first). Explained this and what I wanted done and was told "it doesn't meet our shop minimum of $80 to $100". I was floored- this is a relatively new shop, and as a first time customer, this could have been an excellent opportunity for repeat business and word of mouth advertising. I took my business to Graffiti's down the road and they were so nice and were also floored at how I was treated. At least I understand now why AO is in the same strip mall as a place that sells toilets... read more

I went into Artistic Obsessions to get someone to draw up a design for a tattoo that was very important to me. They said they would draw it up and send me design. I looked through the albums and picked an artist whom I thought had the most talent. I picked my artist paid them $100 got a piece of paper with artist name on it and was never given an appointment date either. Weeks go by and nothing I did reach out by email asking for the design I paid for basically said oh well. This is for my son of 14 years of age who was hit by a car and I had his hand print painted before we had to pull him off life support. Next thing you know I am getting emails from another artist who lied and said the other guy quit when he did not. This guy is telling me he is gonna take care of me and draw it up. I send an email which I can share if needed giving detailed information. His hand print over my heart, the letters I love in fingertips, my shadow in palm and black with gray shadow oh btw use your artistic ability to do what may be cool and I sent him a pic of the hand print. Weeks go by and nothing I reach out saying give me a refund and refused and he refused to send me the design because I might steal it! One it's a pic of my sons hand I can't steal and two I paid you for it. Over two months go by and I finally get a pic sent after going up their personally and saying what the hell. He said he would send that night and did not so I went up the next day irritated I was because I feel like I am being toyed around. I get the pic the next day and it looks like he spent five minutes on it. I have the shitty art he did if you would like to see what 2 months of work looks like. He fails to put letters in finger tips and and word my shadow in palm, and the two numbers I gave him were 51 & 52 his game day Jersey number were wrong number I think he put 50 & 52 or something. He basically traced the hand which anyOne could have done. Zero effort into my design that meant so much. I proceed to tell them give me my refund or small claims court matter will be processed. I don't care about the $100 at this point it's the principle of things. He sends email mocking the military and my service. Calls me a Jarhead even though I was not a marine ever. Called me a joke, Crazy, Piss off blah blah blah. Tells me my sons hand print is a horrible idea. Tells me come today and get refund or never come back but I work today lol. I highly recommend taking your hard earned money elsewhere where it's deserved. read more

Josh was not very professional and very heavy handed! My forearm is chewed up bad after his tattoo! It's been a week and it's still bleeding! This is not my first tattoo....I will not be going back to Artistic Obsession! I do not recommend this shop....just too commercial...no personal touch! read more
