I gave…read moresome points for good customer service during the registration process, but after my daughter's first and only session, it's been pressing on me to leave a review... I took my oldest daughter to this dance company to hopefully introduce her to hip hop dancing - she is 4 and says she wants to be a dancer. She has taken soccer, ballet, tap, gymnastics, music classes, so just keeping in mind that this isn't my first rodeo on toddler classes. She also goes to school. I realize that in a classroom when children outnumber the teacher it is hard for them to pay particular attention to any one child - I get it! What I saw at this studio was a total lack of acknowledgment, engagement or encouragement. I literally saw the teacher move her to the side so she could continue her routine. I guess she was in the way but she remained to the side, as pictured, through the remainder of the class like a 'bad or disruptive' child. It seemed like a punishment. As I ponder on the picture - it makes me sad. This was my aspiring dancer's experience with dance! Wow! Not to add dramatics, but since this is my eldest child, and I am experiencing everything for the first time, I could only hope it didn't totally discourage her. She doesn't want to go back there but I do plan on taking her to other studios. The classes were very large at this studio and in most cases for that age, a second teacher is necessary. There was only 1 in this class. I also found that the dance move they were taught in this class, which not a single student could imitate at that age, was complex enough that adults probably couldn't either! I suggest adding another teacher to toddler classes or reducing the size of the class AND some training on engaging with that age group. I noticed that within 45 minutes, the children seemed to be standing around most of the time - I guess they were being instructed, not sure, since I could only see on the video as there isn't a glass screen like other places I've been to. Lastly, I picked up my girl at the end who burst into tears - I asked the teacher what happened and she shrugged and said I don't know, I guess she missed you. Never check on her or attempted to care. Glad I already canceled enrollment before that interaction anyway - I hope that my child's teacher would care enough, since she was the only child crying. A simple, 'hope you feel better next time and hope you try again' would have been nice. But a shrug does not work for me.

Danielle has her teaching style down to a "T" because every recital I've been too has little musicians who truly enjoy playing and don't see it as chore. I think that is extremely telling of her ability as a teacher to encourage, motivate, and challenge her students. Studio is part of a historic building in downtown Gainesville and renders itself to a more cozy feeling which is not intimidating for the beginner and warm and inviting for the more experienced. We love the instructors and my daughter feels very loyal to the school and staff. The instructors are knowledgeable and warm and truly want your child to do their best. We are even considering putting her in after school care to learn chinese and ballet. She really likes the classes and the teachers. Morningstar has instituted some rules to address the overcrowding. I up'd the star rating by one star because my daughter loves these classes so much and the teachers are excellent. Now, I just drop by daughter off and do errands so that I don't have to be in a crowded environment and it seems to work well. ---old review There are many more ballet schools around Johns Creek that are better looking than Morningstar Dance Academy. However, the teachers are very good. If you are serious about ballet and don't care about the facility and look of the place, you may want to give Morningstar Dance Academy a try. This school seems to be outgrowing its current facility. I think the owner will need to expand soon or create more classes in order to keep the class size down. Right now, my biggest issue is that the classes are so crowded. The state of the facility would be my second biggest gripe. I wish I could watch my daughter's class, but there is no room and there is no window aside from the tiny one on the door. There is also no room for the parents to wait since the adjacent class rooms get filled with chinese language classes. My daughter attends this school with her friends, but I don't know how much longer I will keep her here mostly due to the overcrowding. At first she didn't want to leave her previous school (but i wasn't happy with the lack of growth) so we spent several months trying different schools in the area, as transition is hard. After taking just one class at Morning Star, she said "mom that was the hardest class I've ever taken, I want him (Mr Chen) to train me". We have been there for a little over a year now, and I have seen so much development from her. What she loved is that she gets detailed instructions on what she needed to work on, exercise and stretches that would help develop, the under develop parts of her body, something she wasn't getting at any of the previous schools. She also loved the level of discipline, she felt that all the dancers took the craft seriously. I as a working mom love the flexibility of the school, Instructors allow students to come in and do additional work outside of class time. This along with training alongside girls above her level is something that has aided in my daughter's development. Although smaller than most "fancier" schools in the area and the school we came from, after spending time at just about all of them. I have to say, Morning Star has the best ballet training of all the schools in the area. I would recommend this school to any SERIOUS dancer, because it is intense.

Overpriced for tumbling training…read more My biggest complaint is that if your child doesn't participate in recitals, parades etc, the coach will leave your child to self instructions. And the main reason we wont let our child participate in recitals / parades, etc., is bc she's not that GOOD! YET!!! But recitals n stuff is a scam to just get more money out of you! But the straw that broke the camel's back is coming right off Thanksgiving they shoved a pack of raffle tickets in my face neatly wrapped with my childs name on it - I asked what if we don't want to participate in that (SCAM) the unprofessional said you have to pay $50. You already know - DECLINE!!!! Next class the coach only let my child practice a few routines. Towards the end the coach left my child standing in line waiting for her turn. The ignored my baby! Finally, my child just left and got her STICKER and belongings and we left. After I witnessed that as I watched from outside through the glass window, I decided to finish the course and w/draw my child. There is no way I will allow them to bully my child ALL bc I declined to sell or pay them $50 for some RAFFLE TICKETS!!! So this Wednesday, they paid my child no attention ! My baby got little practice and was told the training was for kids in the parade (which the coach denied saying it when I confronted her about it). But this week not only did the coach limit my child practice she wudnt even let her get a STICKER - NOPE! THE COACH TOOK THE STICKERS AND STARTED TAPPING MY CHILD ON HER HEAD WITH THEM!!!!!
