Guards at the entrance were nice and helpful. They pointed us downstairs to the galleries. Which were empty: we didn't see anyone else our whole visit. The art was of various media, from painting, costumes, sculpture, videos, comics, and more. Something for everyone. And you can't beat the price. Though you do have to put some money in the meter. Took us about 40 minutes. Definitely a place to visit, with or without kids. Check on their site to see when they have exhibitions and what they are showing.

I really liked that the school had a huge swimming pool and diving pool as well. They also have a summer program to teach young kids how to swim in the summer. If you love swimming , this school has a great program for swimmers. They have a good cross country team (Coach Kurt, who was the gym teacher at walker elementary) and when I was there in the 90's are basket ball team was great, who knows today? The wood shop class was a lot of fun here. I still have the end table that I made from a few pieces of oak. I wish I was able to complete my table that we were finishing, but I had to move. A few of my class mates and the kids I grew up with who attended here ended up going to Harvard and Yale. It's a good school. My only regret is that I wish I had applied myself better when I attended. I give the school five stars, as I feel the school did the best that they could, at least at that time. The teachers didn't give up and my history teacher who on the first day of class I thought was going to be the meanest lady I ever met, turned out to be the nicest and sweetest. That was a life lesson. Those who attended here during 94-98 probably without a doubt had the most fun here. Athough this has to do with politics, the school lunch program seriously needs to be changed. The food served was terrible. Our lunches consisted of French fries, Pizza, Burgers and fried tatter totters, and we wonder why childhood obesity is now becoming the norm. Of course, who could forget the vending machines full of sodas, chips and cookies.

This has been a wonderful experience for our kids (5 & 8). They have taken classes here last year…read moreand now we signed them up for 8 weeks. They had been located west on Main Street previously and are now located near the old 5 Points. Nice facility/studio. The classes are 1.5 hours long. Even though we have taken classes previously the owner Meghan offers the first class free to see how your child takes to the class. It is a mix of students (advanced to beginners). I counted 12 stations in the front room and a few more in the back studio along with larger tables. The work with pastels first and then they can move to drawing or oils. Meghan is very patient, knowledgeable, caring and a wonderful instructor. Our kids just loved the experience and was very excited to come back. Meghan also mentioned if you miss a session you may make it up. You won't lose it or have to use it for the 8 weeks in a row type contract. At the end of the class she holds an art show with all of the aspiring artists art work and talks about each one. If your looking for an activity for your kids check it out. Drop the kids off and head down the street for coffee, gelato or a meal!

It was intimidating walking in and seeing all the gorgeous works but everyone there was incredibly welcoming and that extended into the Hand Building I class that I took. The instructor, Lila, was engaging, exciting, and incredibly knowledgeable (and she brought in fresh bread one week!). The class was a touch more free-range and self-directed than I expected but in the end I think that was really for the best - it pushed me to dive into my own creativity (what little there is) and in the end I will be walking away with a handful of fun pieces. I absolutely intend to come back for more classes and potentially signing up for a membership.
