We booked Tony for our wedding recently and were very impressed by his professionalism and enthusiasm to get great pictures throughout the night. Even in our initial meeting we liked his personal touch to his photo services. Tony definitely works very hard to capture all the important and memorable moments - my friends even commented that they had never seen a photographer stay so involved throughout the entire wedding since some tend to disappear during the reception. Despite being so involved, he was able to accomplish all his shots while staying very much in the background so that we could focus on having fun in the wedding. And in the moments where we wanted to find him because we felt a good shot was present, he was already there - great photo intuition. We used Portrait by Tony for both our wedding and our engagement photos and we couldn't have been happier with our decision. We first met Tony and his colleague Laila when they went out of their way to meet with us at our wedding location for a consultation. There was absolutely no pressure, Tony actually encouraged us to shop around. We knew immediately that we had found our photographer. When we met with Tony for the engagement session it was apparent that we were working with the best. Tony was welcoming to any ideas that we had and since neither of us had ever done professional pictures before we were grateful to also let him direct us. In less than a week we received an email with some teasers from our shoot and we were thrilled. The pictures were amazing! A few days before the wedding he asked us when we were going to start getting ready. On the day of the wedding he showed up as we started getting ready, an entire three hours before the ceremony! He ended up staying to take pictures of us after the reception was completed because the light was better at sunset, for a total of over ten hours (and he doesn't charge per hour). With most photographers you will be lucky to cover the time from the beginning of the ceremony to the end of the reception. Tony was also incredibly patient with us and our guests, granting all picture requests while never imposing on the atmosphere of the party. He even enhanced it by creating a slide show of pictures from earlier in the day for people to look at on a table during the reception. Of course the most important thing of all is his pictures are amazing. He hand edits hundreds of the photos to touch them up, and every one looks great. Not only do we love all the pictures we have seen (dozens just a week after the wedding) but we have received many comments from friends and family on how beautiful the pictures are as well. And best of all, we receive all the photos he took and edited on a CD within six to eight weeks of the event at no extra charge, freeing us to do what we please with them. Tony is an amazing photographer and he was very easy to work with. My husband and I were very impressed with his work and extremely reasonable prices, so we booked him. On our wedding day, our ceremony was in the morning and he drove all over san jose to take pictures of my husband and me getting ready (we were at separate locations across town), then followed us to the ceremony. After the ceremony he came home with us and took more photos while we had the tea ceremony. After our tea ceremony he threw together a beautiful slideshow for us that he displayed on a digital picture frame at our reception, instead of taking a break or a nap. My friends and family that were not able to make the morning ceremony were able to enjoy some of our photos that he took...which btw looked great! Tony also printed out a bunch of cards with our engagement photos on them for ppl to take home. I'd have to say that Tony went completely above and beyond for Jon and me and I am more than impressed with the photos I've seen him take thus far. So... I'm so happy that Tony was our photographer for our engagement session and wedding. Tony is an amazing photographer who takes beautiful pictures. After visiting other photographers, we chose Tony due to his professionalism, passion for wedding photography, style, quick communication via email, and affordable wedding packages. Our engagement session took place in Davis, since that is where my husband and I met in college. It was amazing how Tony captured us as a couple and how he made U.C. Davis look so pretty. The turnaround for the pictures was a week, and I was quite excited to receive the CD of the photos. On our wedding day, Tony was available all day to capture all of our moments. He arrived early to take preparation pictures of the bride and groom, and left after all the dancing was over. It was practically a 15 hour day! Tony is an awesome photographer! We had a pleasant meeting initially at his studio/office and we discussed dates; he was pressure free. He showed us all his past client photo albums that he had created and we were sold on his talents. We kept in touch a few times before the wedding, but I was worry free. He was a great photographer, he got everyone in the wedding party to pose properly and even got my unorganized wedding guest to shape up to pose correctly. I got married in August 2011 back in my hometown in Idaho although my fiance and I live in the Bay Area. Planning a wedding out of state is an adventure all on it's own but the search for a photographer was frustrating for me. I heard about Tony through my hair stylist, they had worked on a photo shoot together and she thought he was awesome. I met Tony after many frustrating searches for a wedding photographer that reflected our taste. I'm really weird about wedding photos and I didn't want ours to look pedestrian. Loved our experience with Tony and Malia at the San Jose Rose Garden! Tony was our wedding photographer at our March wedding in San Francisco. We were able to also have him shoot our engagement photos at a park in San Jose. I was very concerned about my soon to be husband's reaction to anyone telling him what to do, since he is a little camera-shy and generally shy, but Tony set him at ease, and he really liked Tony and his approach to photography. Tony was able to get some incredible shots of me, my husband and our family and friends, even some live-action shots of the dancing. I have no idea why Yelp removed my first post, but I'm pretty bummed that they did! After months of searching and meeting wedding photographers of all price ranges and experience level, my fiancé and I have decided to go with Tony! Even though our wedding is not until August, we could not be happier with our choice! Tony is friendly and professional; but most importantly, he is very prompt with replying to e-mails. That was a big factor for me, I often travel for work a lot and cannot be on the phone at all times. Therefore, I rely heavily on e-mail to communicate with vendors, regarding pricing and all sort of random questions I come up with throughout the day. It really bothers me when I don't get responses back for long periods of time (some took over 3 weeks to get back to me!). I understand vendors are busy with their existing clients, but if communication is already lacking before I book with them, I can only imagine my struggles to get in touch with them after I sign and give them my money. Rests assure, you will NOT experience any of that with Tony, he understands just how stressful planning a wedding can be and is very patient in answering all your questions. After months of e-mailing back and forth, we met Tony for the first time at my friend's wedding back in October 2009. I actually recommended him to her after hearing about him from my cousin. Just like us, they fell in love with his work and went with Tony for their special day! My friend, the bride, has kept me well informed through out her entire process with Tony, from the moment they went to Napa to take their engagement photos to the day of their wedding to now, as they are sorting through their photos to finalize their album. The pictures that I have seen from their wedding so far are all amazing, he was able to capture everyone in such a fun and creative way, yet tie it in with a romantic touch. On the day of her wedding, she was so funny, she asked us at least 4 times to make sure we get a chance to meet Tony and introduce ourselves! Aside from the bride and groom themselves, the entire wedding party raved about what a great photographer he was during the whole day. Not only did he constantly check up on the bride and the groom, but he was also making sure he captured all the shots all the bridesmaid and groomsmen wanted, how attentive is that!?! As you can tell, even before our initial consultation, we already had a lot of great testimonials from several different people to vouch for his work. From the moment we sat down to meet with him for our consultation, we could already tell just how passionate he is about photography and how much he loves working with people. He showed up earlier than us and had his laptop and photo albums all set up and ready to show us. We sat and talked for a long time, going over the different packages and his prices. He definitely tries to accommodate everyone and works with you to find a package that is comfortable within your price range. The best part is...unlike most photographers that charges by the hour, Tony will stay with you from the very beginning all the way until the very end! Trust me, that alone can get stressful, photographers are not cheap, but when you are trying to fit a photographer into your budget, but may need to sacrifice hours to make that happen, that's pretty much a monster in itself. Tony eliminates all that stress for you, how great is that! Keep in mind that my fiancé is the type of person that hates taking pictures. He honestly cannot smile for the camera at all (think Chandler from Friends), so it was crucial for us to find a photographer that can make Y smile "naturally". I am confident that Tony will make Y feel comfortable enough on the day of our shoot to provide us with photos I have always dreamt of. Since this was a very important part of our wedding planning and needs, we were very nervous about finding the right Photographer. After interviewing several Photographers prior to Tony we thought we had found the proper person. That changed once we met Tony. How we could have thought the other guy was correct we do not know. Instead, we worked with Ian, who Tony felt shared a similar artistic style to compliment one another. Engagement session: This was such a wonderful experience for both of us. Ian brought his second photographer Debs. We went to a total of 4 locations in San Francisco that went over 5 hours. They are full of dedication and willingness to do whatever we wanted, but also not afraid to take charge when they felt that they could capture that perfect picture. We felt that everything went so smoothly and that the time simply passed by. Wedding day: Our day span from 7am to midnight. It was a very, very long day that included a tea party, church, and reception. Nonetheless, Ian and Debs were extremely enthusiastic throughout. Honestly, I am almost speechless about how talented & wonderful Tony Q. and his wife were to work with & then the end results just topped it all off! Our pictures were simply amazing! I am a photographer myself, so probably a tougher critic than most and they surpassed any expectations I ever had. I researched over 30 wedding photographers in the area, and so many were either way overpriced and/or just not that creative. Tony did a lifestyle shoot for us at Twin Lakes Beach and the experience was awesome. He captured our bonfire party beautifully though candid shots of us hanging out, laughing, learning to play the Ukulele, and strolling together into the sunset. Although some of us were nervous to be in front of the camera, his calm demeanor made all of us feel like the camera wasn't even there. We had so much fun together, and Tony caught it all. We couldn't have had a better photographer for our wedding than Tony! It was by far one of my best proudest decisions for my wedding back in September (other than picking my husband to be the groom... :P).
