I spotted the cute snake keychain and the adorable new ram plush (the keychain was $33.95 though, when other retailers sell it for $32.50). They also carry various other knickknacks, but I was mainly there for the plushies.

The small shop has a variety of stationary, cards and unique gifts (candles, incense, chopstick holders, scarves, jewelry) for everyone. I've been coming to Hanji for a long time and never fail to find something I like there - whether it be for a birthday or anniversary. Unfortunately, the store has been having issues and has a bit of a ... stink. They advised that they'd had the problem looked into over the summer, but hadn't been able to clear the smell. Shame about that. If you're looking for unusual giftware and especially unique greeting cards, this is your place. The range of items is very impressive, including the inks, wrapping papers, bags, pens, erasers, notebooks, and all kinds of other stationery items. Same for stamps, stickers, etc. The great part is that there is very little overlap between the merchandise here and the goods carried at the other shop more or less across the street, so it's always worth your while to hit both. There is a $10 minimum for purchases on plastic (whether debit or credit) but the service is pretty good and I always end up finding something I want and love. Love coming here every time I'm in this part of town.

Love the tablewares and they even have tea sets for the tea ceremony. Friendly shop owner also gave me good tip that if I forgot getting any gifts or souvenirs after my trip to Japan, I can always come by and pick up some. Good idea especially I love travelling light! I doubt my friends would have notice the different :) as Things Japanese has their goods shipped from Japan anyway!

4.5 rounding up to 5…read more I've shopped here on a few occasions over the years. I always make a point of stopping in whenever I'm in Leaside. It's conveniently located on the corner. Easy to see, but parking is dicey as it always is along this section of Bayview. As you'd guess from the name, they carry a good selection of writing implements like Lamy as well as more affordable options (but you won't find a Montblanc.) They have wrapping paper you can buy cut to measure from rolls, and many high end greeting cards you won't find elsewhere. They have a decent but not exhaustive selection of notebooks and calendars. As you also might guess, there are loads of cute decor knickknacks, toys and puzzles, and personal items like wallets and purses. The best part is the uniqueness of their items. It's a good place to find gifts. I wound up finding a great Lego Animal Crossing set for a Christmas gift. The prices are a little high, but not outrageously so. The service on my recent visit was lovely. The lady obviously enjoys working there and her good mood is infectious. She had an especially friendly attitude toward the dog ahead of me with its owner in line. I'm glad they've continued to stay open. I always look forward to going in again.
