While walking in Manhattan you never know who you will meet…read more Such was the case in Midtown East one late summer morning when I spotted a man holding a paint roller extension pole and wearing brightly colored paint-splotched sneakers. It was a chance encounter with this rainbow beam of a person that made me stop in my tracks and take a closer look. I'm so glad that I took that moment because the man wearing those DayGlo kicks is actually a very gifted and multi-talented Urban Artist known as Kam. I asked naively, "What are you going paint?" Kam responded enthusiastically, "I'm on location here working on an interior." This was my introduction to Kam's Art and what piqued my interest in learning more about his work. Kam's art work is visually entertaining. Her energy was contagious -- so passionate, patient, and incredibly skilled. She made the class very approachable, even for total beginners like me. Pearl broke down each step in a way that made it fun and not intimidating at all. The class was intimate and educational. The calligraphy kit she gave us to take home was such a treat! I put my new skills to the test by making place cards for a dinner party I hosted a few weeks later and they turned out great.
