I have done 3 projects with Jo Laurie of Jo Laurie Design in NY City and each has been SO SUCCESSFUL! First, we demolished and renovated my kitchen and powder room, then my bathroom and recently my bedroom. Next year, I hope to redecorate my entrance hall and living room.....and I wouldn't think of using anyone other than Jo. Jo has beautiful taste and judgement, is attentive to my own taste and wishes, works within my budgets and never asks to exceed them. She is a pleasure to work with! Jo is amazingly prompt and professional, which isn't always true of others. (I had 2 very bad experiences years ago with a designer who I sadly had to take to court.) Hired jo Laurie design for an interior design job for a new resteraunt we were opening , Jo Laurie said this would be her first Resteraunt design . As reluctant as I was to give her the job she assured my partner and I that she would be qualified to do the job . Needless to say as the job progressed she was not able to keep up with the work. She was in charge of also buying furniture for the store and as the bills came in she did not price compare and just went with the first choice she came across . I later discovered the same items she purchased I could get at a fraction of the cost. She told my partner and I to make custom cabinets and benches she gave this to a cabinet maker I later found out she is connected with and gets kick backs from . I called several other custom cabinet makers which have gone other high end Resteraunts and found out the same cabinets could be made at a fraction of the cost. The designs she came up with cost my partner and I a crazy amount of money and it was not necessary . I trusted Jo Laurie and gave her my trust to take on the project and we agreed on a budget she went way over budget ordering furniture outrageously priced she buys goods without price shopping and uses craftsmen who give her kickbacks after she charges the customer huge amounts of money . Jo Laurie is not a reputable honest person she uses people who give her kickbacks and charges the customer outrageous amounts of money . I would tell anyone who is designing a resteraunt or apartment do not use Jo Laurie she simply is just not an honest decent person she is only after money and takes advantage of her clients when the client puts their trust in her and her company read more
