I've had my fair share of bad haircuts. Some were uneven, and others couldn't follow a simple request for a faded neckline. With this, when I find a barber shop that gives a me a quality cut in line with what I asked for, I have no reason to go anywhere else. This is that case with Artur's. No matter which barber I went to, the cut (and sometimes beard trim) was always what I asked for. Service has always been kind and polite, also. I've tried looking at other barber shops to see what's out there, but I always find myself booking an appointment here. No need to poke the bear. Finally, the vibe is simple. It is neither the very old school with wood older than my father, nor is it one of the fancy modern places that services cocktails (not that there's anything wrong with either). Me being me, while vibe can be nice, I do to get my hair done, not primarily for the social aspect. This the third time visiting this shop - and it's been a consistently excellent experience. I generally don't require a complex haircut, and it's really only 2-3 times per year that I venture into a shop for a 'reset', so I'm not one that has a consistent 'barber'. That said, the staff is professional, friendly, and meticulous - regardless of with whom I make my appointment. Yes, they highly recommend making an appointment as opposed to walk-ins, which is fine with me. It's efficient and expedient to schedule the time, both for the customer and the barber and the web interface is simple to navigate. Very clean and comfortable shop - I highly recommend Artur's. Some notes - they're in my hood so I just walk, but keep in mind that street parking is pay for park. Bryn Mawr is also pretty busy so I would suggest alternatives to driving. I scheduled an 11 am with Igor. I got there at maybe 1055 and before I could take my coat and hat off, I was already in the chair. I'd come here after having a bad row of scheduling issues with my previous barber. That said, it was nice to get in the chair at the time I actually scheduled, and not 30 minutes to an hour later. Who knew? I got a skin fade, line up, and beard shave. I walked out feeling ace, and I think I found a new barber (thank God!). Fantastic job! Highly recommended. I got a Tuesday hair cut here around noon with Enrique and he did a fantastic job of essentially fixing what went wrong with a previous hair cut that I got a few weeks prior. It was also my first time ever getting my beard trimmed at an establishment and he also did a fantastic job with that as well. I would 100% return back to this place and book with Enrique again. He spent a lot of time making sure everything was looking right. The precision to detail was very well regarded. Poor quality hair cut for a man with medium length hair. I specifically asked for the top of my hair to be pinned up and not touched. They cut my bangs and I had to ask the stylist to even out the sides because she was cutting it for a comb over when I didn't ask for that. I see lots of medium length cuts in the pictures and can only assume they were done by someone else. Now I need to wait a few weeks and get this fixed. Worst haircut I've ever had! I have long hair and a beard and was looking to get a simple haircut and beard trim for a wedding I'm standing up in, well that's not at all what I received. When I was first called up I was nervous because it was hard to explain to the barber the simple haircut I was after. I told him to take 2-3 inches off my hair and clean up the beard (pretty simple right) and it seemed like he was having a hard time understanding. Also while I was trying to explain what I wanted his cell phone kept ringing and he seemed more concerned about the cell phone than figuring out the haircut I wanted. Finally the his phone stopped ringing and he gave me his full attention and I felt like he knew what I wanted so he began. Once he started I felt like he was kind of all over the place and seemed very nervous which again made me uneasy. However he finished the back and my girlfriend said it looked good so I let my guard down and let him finish. Once he was done I put my glasses back on and took a look at myself in the mirror, I was devastated, this guy had shaved the front 2 inches of my hairline back, I guess he was trying to even it out (something I never asked him to do). He also reshaped my beard (again something I never asked him to do), I had a full wide thick looking beard when I went in, when I left I had an uneven pencil thin beard. So now at this point I need to get this haircut fixed because I have a wedding I'm standing up in less than 2 weeks away, my girlfriend called to complain and they said to come back in and they will fix it, well I went back and was told there's no way to fix it and to maybe just comb my hair over the spot he shaved, which is definitely not a solution to the problem. Now I'm going to have to wear a hat when I stand up in the wedding, also probably gonna have to shave my beard. Like I said WORST EVER!!! read more

I'm new to Chicago and finding a local barber shop that I liked was something I was a bit worried about, since there are so many hit or miss barbers out there. Artur's was the first barber shop I tried since it's right in my neighborhood and I'm lucky Edgewater has such a great place! I've driven 20-30 minutes for a barber shops in previous cities I've lived in. It's definitely a small place, if you walk too fast you'll miss it! It's next to Blowfish Sushi. The barbers at Artur's are very warm, nice people and they also have a lot of confidence and skill. I've specifically been going to Turan and he's great! Update on the review... Artur, the owner, was very professional and reached out to me multiple times to fix the situation. The way he made me feel and his willingness to make me happy deserves accolades. Ernesto no longer works at Artur's, which is not necessarily the remedy for which I was looking, but it was Ernesto's choice. I would recommend this barber shop to anyone because Artur cared and his willingness to make the situation better. I trust that my next experience at Artur's Barber Shop will be stellar. He cut my hair and tried to fix He hate leaving negative review because I know small business owners need positive reviews to thrive, but my experience warrants this negative review. I couldn't get to my normal guy so I walked in to Arthur's because I needed a clean up. I saw Ernesto. I repeatedly said do not touch the top just clean up the sides. He tried to convince me to take off more off the top but I said no. Watching very closely making sure he didn't take any off the top I thought I was safe until the end, saw that he was going to cut off too much, was about to say stop but he took it upon himself to take off several inches on the right side. Saying I needed it. He fucking butchered my hair! The normal side of my head is over 5 glorious inches long and the other is about an inch. I saw in his eyes that he fucked up. I said too short! He didn't even try to fix it. Ernesto did not listen to me at all. No regard for what I wanted or communicated. Never again! Now I have to take another 6 months to grow out my hair so both sides are even. I'm sure he is a very nice guy, but if you want a barber to do what ever he wants then Ernesto is your guy.
