Overall a very comfortable environment to be in. The stylists also read and record the appointment notes you give them when you book. So it pays off to go consistently and be honest/transparent about what you want. I've been going to Anisha more regularly, and every time I go to her with a vision of what type of haircut I want to--she knows what to do to make my hair look good in the moment and also as it grows out while giving me the haircut I want. I've been going to Bespoke for years, shortly after it opened, and I experience a first-class service every time I go. Haircut service is exceptional. Becca's skills are amazing as evidenced by her consistently cleaning up the frazzled mess that is my hair and making it better than presentable. It is always easy to make an appointment. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Ambiance is fun and comfortable; the front desk has a bar with various beverages, and the waiting area has comfortable recliners with random TV stuff or reading material ready for you. I found this place on yelp and decided to give it a try - just had their scheduling site randomly pick a stylist for me at my desired time. I showed Anisha a picture on my phone of a recent haircut I got in Brazil that was pretty much perfect. Just had an amazing experience with Lauren - she's super friendly and really knows what she's doing. She took time to understand what I was looking for and went from there. I liked that she walked me through what she was going to do - really calmed my control-freak-self! I simply don't think there is any other place you should get your haircut in Chicago than here. ESPECIALLY if you don't know anything about your own hair or what look you're going for.... Yes... it is a little pricey but it's Chicago. As a wise man once told me your hair is the only thing you wear every single day.... so suck it up because it's worth it. I'm assuming if you're reading this you've never been so I will give you the run down. First you will be greeted by a friendly staff and promptly taken to your chair. (In non covid times you can grab a beer from their bar). They do a full shampoo and rinse before the cut. Then they spend a portion of time figuring out your lifestyle and what you're going for. They know what they are doing so I even suggest asking for their opinion. Next the cut will begin... it doesn't take forever... the chair is comfortable... they can have great conversation or keep it quiet whatever your preference. I can't preface enough they do an amazing job. I have had my hair cut by Becca and Ashley. Top notch, and skilled at their craft. After the cut you can make changes and they rinse and style your hair... A full package deal. TO MAKE GREAT BETTER. They offer 2 week clean ups for FREEEEEE. (Make sure you tip though come on people it's 2020). 10/10 I strongly recommend Bespoke. Lastly, a side note.... the atmosphere here is awesome. Great location and the place is just cool. I requested a very standard haircut and after I saw it, it wasn't what I was asking for so I asked my stylist to please go shorter on the sides and she looked at her watch, gave me attitude, and said I was asking for a second haircut and proceeded to cut the top not the sides. Hey, I'm not afraid to admit it - I'm a pretty cheap guy when it comes to haircuts. There's a chain salon right by my work that I pay $10 a cut for, and it works for me...like 50% of the time. Usually I take solace in the fact that my hair grows back pretty quickly, but the convenience is good for me. And that's fine until...well, I decided to get married. And that meant getting a "real" haircut. Per the suggestion of friends and my brother-in-law, I booked an appointment here with Ann-Marie. At the very least, I knew she would know how to cut Asian guys's hair (which takes a certain skill), but I really had a great experience at Bespoke. No, it's not ten bucks, but you get what you pay for, which I mean in the best way possible. Ann-Marie spun together a combination of my suggestions and her past experiences to give me an amazing cut. And she didn't rush either; after I told her the wedding date and how my hair usually behaves, she took her time making every micrometer of hair was set to go for the big day. They also sell beers here, and she was kind enough to grab one for me and deliver one to my then-fiancee. I'm new to this place and it seemed okay at first. I had Dell when I went and it was honestly such a bad haircut experience. He was first late to the appointment because he decided to walk to work. I told him exactly what to cut and how short to cut it, but when he started to scissor cut, he just kept chopping away. I told him to not touch the top and only cut maximum of 1/2 but he took off at least half of my length. I said that I wanted a taper towards the bottom of my head and he used scissors to cut it short but then made everything else the same length "for blending purposes." The wash was also mediocre because it felt like he just slapped shampoo and conditioner on and rinsed water. I got home and still had so much hair everywhere. He claims that he has over 20+ years of experience, but I'm questioning that. Honestly one of the worst haircut experiences in my life. Do not recommend. read more

This is the only review that I've ever felt the need to write. I've been a paying customer here for approximately a year. I enjoyed the haircuts (despite the high price tag), but I'm going to take my business elsewhere, and I recommend that others do the same. So what happened? I signed up for an appointment, but never received the standard text requiring confirmation. Bespoke then contacted me to say that I would be charged a late cancelation fee ($60), despite the fact that I never confirmed the appointment. I called their manager, who refused to waive the fee and told me that the confirmation was "more of a courtesy." She then said that any lack of clarity on the confirmation policy should be taken up with their website vendor. Long story short, avoid this place at all costs. I'm taking my business elsewhere, and if you want to avoid cancelation fees and managers that are totally unwilling to work things out with customers, you should look elsewhere also. Response to Ashley: Hi Ashley, The situation wasn't necessarily upsetting, but it did leave a fairly strong impression on me of how Bespoke chooses to run its business. You are correct, I did receive an initial text message stating that I booked an appointment, but I never received the follow-up confirmation message stating that the appointment was confirmed (and it is a confirmation message--not a "24-hour" reminder--as the wording is "[t]o confirm your appointment...") . As far as the confirmation itself (apparently confirmation is only sent to clients that book more than 24 hours in advance), Bespoke does not relay information on when confirmation is sent to customers, nor is that information available on the website. How do you expect customers to know that they would receive confirmation in some circumstances, but not in others? Do you really expect your clients to reach out to the website vendor that you hired? But the bigger issue is that contrary to what you just suggested below, Alex actually repeatedly refused to waive the cancellation fee during our 15 minute phone call earlier this afternoon. In fact, it was her reluctance to help me out in any way that prompted me to leave a review in the first place. If Bespoke had actually agreed to waive the fee, I would have booked another appointment instead of taking the time to write a review (and I did ask 5 or 6 times). In my opinion, your below reply is disingenuous at best, dishonest at worst. For anyone reading this, you should ask yourself why Bespoke's ratings appear to be so high online. The answer is that Bespoke likely artificially inflates their online reviews by only responding to customers' concerns when a customer leaves a negative review online (look at other comments, Bespoke responds to virtually every low review). If you're like me, and would prefer to do other things with your time than type up your issues online (or pay $60 fees for appointments you never confirmed), please take care to avoid this place. read more

I recently moved to Chicago and went to this salon because of the good reviews. I was also glad that they are trained barbers and therefore hoped things would be as professional and high quality like my prior stylist Kailyn in St Louis Philip Johnson Salon. I booked an appointment online and arrived 10 min before the scheduled time. The front desk lady was very nice. I waited till my stylist Elisa asked me to her chair. Being my first appointment and the cost of service, I sincerely hoped she would try to get to know me and how I like my hair to be cut. This is where I sensed the problem. I should mention here that her corner is dark with very poor lighting. She asked, "So what would you like done?" I hardly uttered half a sentence when she interrupted, "So 1-2 inches off?" She already had clippers in her hand less than 30 seconds into me being in the chair. I wanted to explain that due to the length of my hair, I like the sheers up until the end where clippers may be used to clean up edges. Clippers make my hair stand in pointy uneven directions. She started chopping length with clippers everywhere except the top. 4 minutes later, I was in the other chair to wash my hair. I got a hot towel to my face and a finger massage that I believe is standard here. I spent 5 minutes there before I went back to have hair evened out on top. This felt rushed and there was no gentleness or finesse I had expected in handling my hair. Simple things like how much pressure you use on the comb against the scalp were missed. During this time, I was advised that I could come back in 2 weeks for a free touch up with the following statement: "As long as you are on time, it is a fair game." Totally unnecessary. In 15 minutes total, she managed to wrap it up. I was not shown a mirror to look at the back of my head. I did tip her out of courtesy on my way out but here is the question I struggled with. "For that level and quality of haircut, what am I doing here spending $55 hoping for an upscale barber experience instead of going across the street to Supercuts?" And for the record, there was a clear demarcation between the top of my hair and the rest of the hair where clippers were heavily utilized. My suggestion with due respect to all ladies: Please ONLY fine tune with clippers. Your website states you are barbers. Kindly put sheers to some good use and blend hair well while at it. And gently. I sure hope this is taken as constructive criticism. read more

They are excellent at the grooming. Human grooming. Nice people. Sharp scissors. Sharper wit. Sharpest results. Ask for the unicorn latte. There's a triple cheeseburger on the secret menu. Highly recommend the back hair fade or the "Backhawk" which is a Mohawk on your back. Or get the combo of a Backhawk paired with the chest wax, which is called a "Torso Mullet" -- business in the front, and party on your back. Really like this place. I went in for an eyebrow wax. I've been to other salons for an eyebrow wax before, and thought I'd give Bespoke a chance. I was very disappointed. The man doing my service didn't seem like he knew what he was doing. He didn't show me what they looked like after he was finished. I went home and had to pluck areas that were patchy and missed. He also nicked my skin under my brow and there were areas of bleeding. I probably won't be going back for this service again. Not sure how their haircuts are, but definitely would not recommend getting an eyebrow wax from here. read more
