I love the concept of this beauty bar...walk in, walk out, no appointment necessary but you can…read moremake one if you want. If you need an urgent blow dry, manicure or any other beauty emergency, this is the place to go. The place is an open salon within the Grace Hotel, so a passerby will be able to see you getting some of the treatments, but this is reflected in the price, which is quite cheap for Sydney CBD. I was having a crappy day so I came here on my lunch-break for a quick manicure. And it was nice little distraction for my mind. I'm yet to try the other services available but I get the impression that this place is a no-nonsense beauty bar, excellent for last-minute beauty needs. For example a no-wash blow dry is $15-30, which is really cheap! Excellent alternative to a day spa or beautician.

I have to say I am extremely upset with myself for falling for this new internet gimmick. This…read morewhole set-up stinks of your American lady trying to make a quick buck from something she's seen in the States, and taking advantage of two young inexperienced Indian girls. The set-up is pathetic, shabby and unprofessional. You were running 10 minutes late. I thought the whole point was quick for the 'time deprived professional'? Then you have the gall to charge $60 for the crappiest threading I've ever had. And I've had many... The whole drawing on my face telling me what I already know to cover for the fact you know they won't look good, was shameless. I've paid less than $60 for a proper professional, nice room and actually someone who greeted me on arrival. Your on-line / iPad system is a gimmick, plain and simple. The fact you won't even take bookings over the phone is ridiculous. This sham will not last and I will be sharing my experience with everyone I know.

I have had pretty much the same hair cut for 10+ years. Although I understand there different…read morevariations of how stylists can cut, it doesn't vary much with my shorter hair. To me, it seems like it would be the prototypical cut they teach in any school ( i know i don't have much style, but whatever.) The stylist at BDB was friendly and seemed to fully understand exactly how I wanted my haircut. Except they didn't follow any structure, didn't take any time to see that the work was uniform or even and more or less didn't care. What should have been a very routine men's cut turned out to be completely uneven in many areas and lopsided overall. In what i though would be a value ( $30) is now going to turn into a pricy cut overall because I now have to go to another salon to fix the errors. I guess i'll just walk around self-conscious for the time being. +1 star for general friendliness (although it doesn't matter much when the cut was worse than worthless.) Note: I hate giving negative reviews (just view my profile for the amount), but every once in a while they are justified. Lo siento.

I can't believe there aren't more reviews on here for this place!…read more I have been coming here for years specifically for the blow dries. For $35 any length and GHD curls for free you really can't go wrong (especially when you have "extra" long, thick hair like me). I have never had a bad experience with any of the stylists and I can recommend them if you're looking for anything from a basic natural looking blow dry to a glam Saturday night style. You always walk out feeling like a million bucks. The other thing is that they are nice and quick, I like being able to know I will be in and out within an hour (often closer to 40 mins). I have also had my hair cut and coloured (full head of blonde foils and toner) here and was very happy with the results. If you're looking for a great value blow dry I don't think there's any better in Sydney. The blow dries I've had here are leagues ahead of ones I've had from some other mid range and expensive salons like Brad Ngata (and a load cheaper too!). Do bear in mind though that it's not the sort of place that serves champagne or complimentary coffees, but if you want a head turning blow dry without the hit to your wallet, this is the right place for you.

One word: WOW This is the best haircut I've ever had. I am…read moreamazed. I have only ever been to your run of the mill hairdressers. You know the ones who shove you in a chair, choke you with an apron, spray you with a gallon of water, chop at your hair and throw you out on the street. Not here. Here I felt like a Royal. They took my coat and bag, dressed me (actually dressed me) in an apron and did magic on my hair. My hairdressers name was Paul. He took me through everything while he cut and styled my hair. He told me how to style my new messy concave bob and whilst I will NEVER be able to style it like he did, I highly appreciated the demonstrations he took me through. It is a little bit pricey but they use good products and the service is 5

This is a fairly dull toni and guy. I would suggest it as a back up, or for the odd pop in if you…read moreneed a touch up, but you need to be REALLY specific with what you want. Cuts can tend to be fairly hit and miss and the stylists don't always listen to what you want. They use to have a guy working there years ago called Poppy who did brilliant and stylish cuts, but I don't know where he's gone. Nancy (style director) gives pretty good cuts and the odd great cut, but they usually need a few days to settle in. Recently I went all out and saw the Art Director and I'm less than impressed - likely to the point of not returning. At $114 bucks to see the Art Director, I walked out thinking it was the *worst* haircut I've had in years (but after a few days of settling in, it's OK, but not brilliant - and definitely not what I asked for). And I doubt the cuts are worth the $100+ price tag. Overall I would have given this place 4 stars had it not been for my last experience, but that's what you get. Hit and Miss.
