There are regular weekly vendors, including Hilary's cookies, organic vegetable farmers, a taco/tamale stand, Tamales Express, that sells mangos on sticks, as well as two rotating food trucks. Additional draws are the terrific kids' activities, including a concert, the bouncey house, various activity stations such as baby sensory tents, rock painting, sandbox, water toys, and more. After 6pm the playground opens. We basically love the organizers and have become regulars over the course of this summer/fall. I grew up in Chicago, and lived here a good portion of my life, but finally, have gotten to a point where it feels like I have a neighborhood in Chicago. Can't wait for next year.

That iteration with that name ended in 2023, and this year it was re-established. You'd be forgiven for thinking it was the same old market, because it's located at the same place (the parking lot of Ravenswood Covenant Church). But this is the new and improved version and it's really great! I think I saw that Hillary's Cookies, a bakery in Lincoln Square, took the lead in coordinating this along with RCC. Some of the vendors remain the same but there are added booths. There's a community booth that spotlights a neighborhood resource or organization; this past week a Girl Scout troop was selling cookies, candles, bath products and so on for a trip. I really love that there are children's activities set up; there was a bounce house, a water play area, and a little table set up where there were some children coloring and whatnot. It's a food-only market, unlike some farmers markets that also have an area for craft or art vendors to set up. There's at least one farm booth (Patyk Farms), as well as several booths offering food at the market ready to eat. They have an area set up with tables so folks can enjoy their meal. This past week when I went there was a booth selling olive oils and vinegars; a BBQ booth; a Mediterranean food booth; Snack Lab; the Lincoln Ice Cream Company; Hillary's Cookies, of course; and others. It was a nice assortment of vendors and cuisines. With a little musical entertainment to boot! This market is really a success, better even than some other, more established farmer's markets in the neighborhood (*cough* Lincoln Square *cough*), and we're really lucky to have this one happening right here in Ravenswood.

The ordering process is a bit unusual - because most items are sold by the pound and the exact weight of each package isn't known when you order - you put in the order and then the day before the delivery they will email you and let you know your exact total and how to pay (cash, check, credit card over the phone, Zelle, Venmo, etc) The prices are high. I think this is to be expected for a local farm rather than the industrial supply chains that support your local grocery store. For me, this is a worthwhile tradeoff - but don't come here looking for something really cheap.

Multiple farm stands, a stall selling canned goods, a butcher, and fresh made pasta. I grabbed perfect cherry tomatoes from a stall I didn't get the name of (eeek) and on a whim also got half a load of garlic bread from pHlour bakery and cafe. The bread was prize worth. In fact, I only had ever been there once or twice before because the location was difficult for me to get to before they closed up for the evening. In 2024, I've been to the market three times since it opened month or so ago, which is more than I had been in the 15 years prior. There's a nice variety of booths here, from the plants, fruits, and veggies to some prepared foods. Vendors are all helpful and friendly. A favorite new find is the SnackLab, a company that makes a few items but their potato chips are the best--in particular the Rosemary Lemon flavor. This is the best flavor combo and hard to pass up! It's not my favorite of the farmers markets around; there are better ones in my opinion. But it's not bad and certainly worth it if in the area.
