Small, no-frills restaurant that also sells some groceries. The place has lots of windows so is pretty bright during the day. Service is a bit slow, especially during busy times, and it helps if you speak Portugese. We had a bit of trouble communicating with our server in English. The food portions were large, and all the food was very homey and tasty. We left with enough leftovers for another meal each.

Came here to try the famous feijoada and it did not disappoint. Having been to Brasil and tried it there, this was definitely a very authentic and delicious dish. The cafe also has Brazilian products to buy. However, I will say I was disappointed on the to go plate. For the price, I wouldn't call this a good deal. Maybe eating it in the actual store may be worth the money but taking it to go wasn't. The feijoada dish cost almost $19 with tax. Food 5/5 Value for money 3/5

Feijoada Completa and Yucca Fries - both delicious!!!

The Feijoada Completa and the Yuuca Fries were delicious. I always come here to get my Guaraná Zero but today was the first time I ordered food and I was not disappointed!! SO GOOD!! I'll definitely order again from Brasil Legal. It's a great spot to get some tradicional Brazilian ingredients and great food.

Two orders of feijoada and a side of paõ de queijo!

Boyfriend thought this was a law firm for Brazilians for 6 months before I got him to go inside lol. Amazing, delicious, cozy! We came in on a Saturday and found out they don't actually serve food until 11am. Walked around Western and came back to order some paõ de queijo, feijoada, and a side of Guarana. I was excited to try this because many of the reviews on here exclaim how authentic it is - how Brasil Legal, while small, is probably the most authentic Brazilian food you can get in Chicago. Can't speak to how "authentic" Brasil Legal is because neither of us are Brazilian, but we can confirm that the menu here is super delicious. The beef in the feijoada was so tender and soft, it fell apart on my fork. And the sides that came with it were also flavorful and tasty! TLDR; this is not a law firm and you should come in for some comforting Brazilian food.

Lovely little place with great pastries. Love the coxinha - so so so good! There is also a small market of grocery goods such as Brazilian hot cocoa powder. A great stop if you're in the neighborhood!

I have never been to a Brazilian market before so why two stars? When I got there there were people moving things out the door, not bags or items but furniture and paintings. My first impression was that it was out of business and the owner or whoever was moving things out. I hesitated entering because I thought I would be treated with a stern, "we're closed." For a market, which I think it was pretty thin. It seemed like that had maybe ten items just spread out amongst all the shelves. I may not have been to a Brazilian market before but market wise pretty sad.

Food is not good, the risole de camarão doesn't have shrimp. I just order and really did not like it

Here is a picture of the menu!

They rather stand around and say self-checkout is open. People know about self-checkout, clearly guest will rather go through the regular check out. Those males they have over there in the deli have ruined the quality of the hot or cooked items over there. I've heard a customer request the $1 item and they said there wasn't any more they'd have to cook them, THEN turned and said they wouldn't have time. They stand back there moving so slow it's unbelievable. The one guy with the real thick glasses has a real nasty attitude. Every time a woman asks for something he's speaking under his breath about them. I hear because I stand a wait for another guy to come available because I never want to deal with him and he speaks negatively of the customers because they have request. Personally, I decided to just go to other locations or other stores, if I want something from the deli. The store is clean, but it be so crowded.

A line for grocery store fried chicken? Absolute cinema. People have been recommending I get into fried chicken reviews, and I've resisted as I really don't want to get fat, but this was the perfect storm to start a grocery store fried chicken review journey. I got to the front in the line and felt like a fish out of water. I sheepishly asked the employees, Darius R and Damariea J, what the move was as it was my first time getting fried chicken from here. I thought they'd be annoyed, but they were so helpful and welcoming. "Today is actually wing bucket Friday! A whole bucket is normally $17.99 but today it's $9.99. I can give you some of everything so you can try, but the spicy wings are my favorite." Hell yeah. Darius was the MAN. I took my tissi and wing bucket to the UIC campus for consumption. The tissi was a brick and landed at a 6/10, which currently ranks it 71st out of 94 grocery store birds I've tried, but the fried chicken was INSANE. Darius wasn't lying, the spicy wings were next level. The best grocery store chicken I've ever had. Boomin the Publix fried chicken. Shoutout to the Darius' and Damariea's of the world. Good people. As always, I am looking for new fantastic restaurants, and stores to try out, and share with: family, friends, and on Yelp. As you walk in it seems like a common corner store, groceries in the front, meat towards the rear. When I walked to the back I had a pretty good hunch this would be a great one. The fresh smell, it was very clean, and the amazing eye catching signage. You could feel like you just walked into in a sweet little store in Mexico. When they handed me the food I ordered I knew was on the right track. When I took my first bites I smiled, and knew, I needed to share this place. I was intrigued by the Pozole Verde sign out front. I had never had it before, so I placed my order for that and zero regrets. It comes out in a quart container with a plastic wrapped foam tray with: chopped onions, cilantro, radish, shredded cabbage, and mexican oregano. I added mostly everything but went easy on the oregano. The chunks of chicken were tender and not overcooked. The hominy and vegetables were just right as well. They have this to a science and it has to be near perfect. Now to the tacos: As you often see in neighborhood grocery stores the chorizo was hanging in back above the meat counter, so a house made chorizo taco was a given. The Al Pastor was reccomend by the one of the butchers, and I had a steak taco to round it, and myself, out. All I can say is that like the pozole everything was superb. Even the salsas.. I wish I knew of this place when I worked and lived in the area. I would definitely have known everyone there by name. I still smile thinking of it, and next time I'm in that hood, I will be there. I look forward to trying out a few more menu items, and picking up some of the fresh meat. So maybe don't slap Grandma... but you should at least pick her up and take her out to lunch here. Enjoy! #AlfieEats
