Spent some time at As You Wish at Desert Ridge. When I arrived, saw Addi handling the crowd. It was starting to get busy. Shortly Sydney arrived followed by Greta. The three young musketeers handled the situation with grace. Speaking of Gracie, she came in to check on her pottery. While she was there, she helped me with the problem I was having. Gracie showed me how to mend the gaps in the marbling I had on my bowl. The technique Gracie showed me worked great. Kudos to Gracie for her help. Fun pottery painting activity at Desert Ridge Marketplace. I brought my two boys and my mom. The boys picked out an ice cream bowl and an ice cream cone with a spoon to paint. My mom and I assisted them with their pottery painting. The ice cream bowl and cone were $18 each plus $10 service fee per person (service fee includes supplies, paint, glazing and firing) Their pottery prices range from $5- $80. Free studio fee for children 2 and under. The staff was friendly, attentive and gave good directions on how the process works. They have a 3 day turn around for pottery pick up. I hosted a team building event at As You Wish yesterday evening and it was a blast! I made a reservation for a large party and it was very simple. As a host for a large event it is always helpful when the business is easy to work with and helpful leading up and during the event. The woman that checked us in and helped us with explaining what to do was very kind and helpful with whatever she needed. She also made the checkout process very easy, even with a large party. Not a bad place. Went here for my friend's birthday. It was enjoyable. The music was good. The pricing however for some of the pieces was rather questionable. It was 35 for a dragon statue but there was a cauldron that was bigger and cheaper??? Not sure how the pricing works but it's definitely not by size of the piece. They had a measuring cup set that was like 40+ dollars when compared to a coaster set that wasn't nearly that expensive. The pieces can take longer to do than others too. There's a 10 dollar service charge which is new from the last time I was at this place. I feel like 10 dollars is just an extra price when the pieces already costs kinda a lot by itself. Either make the pieces more expensive or something because if you get a small piece that's like 5 dollars the really tine magnet ones you're SOL so to speak. The cat pumpkin was 31 dollars. We were supposed to have 5 dollars off because there was a delivery man that came through and forced us to make room for him but I guess it wasn't communicated with the check out girl and I ended up paying the full charge. Very interesting experience if you want to feel creative. Think the only downside is the figures you get to paint are a little pricey.

I have been going to as you wish with my mother and sometimes even by myself for over 10 years. I absolutely love it. It's a great place to go and relax and forget about any worries or problems. We've enjoyed a few nights out making pottery with the kids, but this was the first time going for a birthday party. Ten 7 year olds with trays of paint had some chaotic moments, but they all had a blast. Each kid had their own canvas that was pre-traced. The host led the girls through each step of the painting and kept the millions of paint colors flowing. After the painting we had, not arguably the best part of any bday party, pizza and cake (not provided by the shop). I have one complaint/suggestion. A child showed up late, and the teacher had already started using the last canvas as a sample so now had to go in back and make another. It took a long time and the kids got rowdy and we had to continue the lesson. We were told they had reservations at 2pm and we put our name down and we're told we will be texted to come back at if people don't show. As You Wish Pottery is so much fun! My first adventure here when they first opened for business in 95 in Scottsdale. They were one of the first paint your own pottery shops and now one of the most successful. It was my old stomping ground with the girls while in college. Between work and school I didn't really have much time so this was the my hang out. So satisfying and relaxing to kick back and escape the daily grind. When we had internal customers from other countries come to town from work this was a great place to take them. In 2003 I started taking my little one to the Deer Valley location. As she got older Desert Ridge was our hangout again. Dinner, coffee, As You Wish, live music and playing in the water in front of the giant fireplace. Our newest little ones are now old enough. Our first adventure was at thr Westgate location. We are scheduled here for a birthday adventure while we are staycationing in the area. The gals here are super friendly and there was no issues setting up a date for our needs. This is our favorite location because of all the other amenities we enjoy before and after! read more

We are not impressed with this location at all. We brought the kids here to do some art. One piece was lost/broken entirely and my daughters came home with 2 chips in it. They offer a store credit if your piece is damaged, but you have to pay for paint and a piece whenever you go in. Plus the kids are excited to see their work, so it is a let down when it is broken. We won't be coming back. We paid about $40 for this chipped piece of art. read more

So I planned a girls day with my friend and daughter .. sad to say the experience was not worth the cost .. very small items to choose from that cost $18 or more ...and of course the bigger items run over $40 . We have painted so many different items here. From little foxes to coffee mugs and plates we actually use to eat of of. We have also painted bowls. The service here is super nice and always asking how you are doing. Always letting you know how the paint on the item you are painting will turn out. Just go in pick something out and zone on your paint. Environment is just so relaxing and calm. The people who come in here are just so relaxed and waiting to have a good time. I thought this would be a fun outing for my grandson and I. I guess I should have done more research before going. I understand prices are high but for the service, amount of time we were there, I expected more. I guessed that the items to paint would be expensive. We paid $22.50 for a 7" clay dinosaur and then we're charged $8 for supplies to paint the item. The paint brushes were in terrible shape, good variety of paint colors, but for the money I would do something else. You have to come back and get your item 3-4 days later. I was really disappointed today to see that As You Wish is not asking it's painting customers to wear masks. My family has been coming here since they opened years and years ago. (There's never a time I'm without a family pass in my wallet.) Lately, with covid-19, we've been picking up pottery, painting it at home and returning it to the store for firing. I stopped in today to drop off our stuff and collect our previously finished pieces. There's a sign on the door stating they require masks, but I was shocked to see numerous groups painting inside and only the employees wearing masks. When I inquired about it, the nice girl working explained that they ask you to wear them when up and around but not while sitting, because they have the tables socially distanced. Although they are spacing people out, there were 5 different groups in various stages of painting--one a group of four-- making for almost 20 people including myself in that small storefront, mostly without masks. I have to be honest and say I felt uncomfortable and at risk while waiting for the employee to write descriptions of my pieces and locate my finished ones. While I love As You Wish and will continue to be a patron, I do not plan to enter again until the virus has finally been beat, or they change their safety procedures. read more

This was my first time coming here and I had a great time. My best friend and her daughter invited me for her birthday so I went with and painted. The staff was very friendly and helpful explaining how everything works. There were so many options of what to paint, which is awesome. I love lots of decisions. I found a little sloth to paint and it turned out quite well! It took a bit longer than normal to be ready for pick up but it's ok since Covid. Our guys were at AMC theatre watching Creed, while we drank wine, and worked up our courage to get crafty! After sipping on a couple of glasses of wine at the whining Pig, at Desert Ridge, we were feeling a bit relaxed, and ready to take on our pottery projects! the fact that it's just a few steps away, we felt comfortable getting a bit tipsy! (Love the Desert Ridge shopping center!) The staff here was helpful and explanatory, as to how to approach our Christmas Plates. Although we were feeling good...our thoughts were still having a hard time deciding what to paint on our plates! So here's a tip for those who are not so crafty. Pinterest! It was relaxing, inspiring and we bounced our suggestions off of each other to get the perfect look. Booking ahead of time is the best idea. The girls who work there are friendly and go over the process with you and free to answer any questions you have. You leave your finished art there to pick up in a few days. If you don't finish it the same day (because we had more then one piece each) they will give you a free pass to return. I come here at least once per year to share an experience with my son. I absolutely love it. My boy is growing like a freaking weed. Who allowed this? I know I certainly didn't. So, I'm the dork who likes to get his handprint on everything as a memento of his tiny-ness, which is why we come here every Mother's Day. We decorate a mug together, then we paint his little paw and stick it on the mug and it's there forever... well, after As You Wish does that whole kiln process. The last time we went, Harvey was old enough to paint and do some sponge stamping on his own plate. Any time I put his dinner on it, he gets super excited. "That's MY plate! I painted that!" 2 is my favorite age, guys. The employees are fabulous. They are young and super friendly and I swear that one girl is a baby whisperer. She's an absolute expert at getting the perfect handprint. If your kid smudges it, she's there to clean it up. Get their app. They have coupons on there. Sometimes they have coupons for $10 of a purchase of $40, which I use to just go in and buy pieces that I'll bring back later to paint with my kiddo. Thanks to my friend Lori M for organizing a little get-together at this place, I will soon be the proud owner of a handmade plaque with my son's footprint and handprint on it! Our group of new parents met with our babies at As You Wish to make these keepsakes yesterday afternoon. While I like the concept of painting your own pottery, I'd never before stepped foot into this business. As was expected, it was a zoo on a weekend, filled with kids and parents, but the staff was friendly and organized. A fellow named Ryan helped our group and he was great. My daughters and I enjoy painting pottery; however, our last two visits have lead to broken pieces. The response by staff was that the kiln is not an exact science. Here are our 3 problems with As You Wish. 1. Pieces keep breaking 2. Why didn't we receive calls that the pottery broke. One item was a gift that we were expecting to deliver that day. 3. Refunding the piece of a broken item doesn't pay for the parents time and cost to paint new items with their child. Hopefully, As You Wish will resolve these issues. Thank You, Roger read more

I absolutely love coming here. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They keep the tables, chairs, and equipment clean at all times. Mostly they are true advocates on Covid protocol and making sure customers keep their masks on. I been eyeing this place for a while just never had the time or person to do so with. I finally got the chance to do last Wednesday which was wacky Wednesday (they void the studio fee which is $7.50 per person) I had no clue on what to do but the lady that was there was amazing. I can't believe I didn't get her name. She explain everything so well. She even help out with putting my 5year old hand prints on a plate I got. She was very patient as well since we had to do it 2x. She was just happy to help out. She went out and beyond to make everyone's experience wonderful. I notice she will check in with everyone to make sure they where doing ok. We just had a party here for my 7yo daughter, her choice. I will say I was not excited about it because of all the miscommunication I was getting while planning. We got there about a half an hour early to set up food and drinks (you're allowed to bring your own) and met Jennie, our party host. She was great with the kids, kept them all entertained and gave pointers on painting. Today I went to get our pieces, a day and a half earlier than promised (I called) and she was there again and signed us up for Beauty and the Beast in April!
