The ambience was relaxing and inviting and we enjoyed the sun-soaked, greenery-filled patio with our toddler while she munched on a chocolate peanut energy bite. I thoroughly enjoyed my cafe au lait (made with Barista quality almond milk) and my husband loved his "regular milk" cappuccino. The espresso roast was smooth and tasted like caramel. They also have tasty gluten-free snack options, including the lemon coconut ball which I devoured. My hubs loved his chocolate croissant which had a crunchy caramelized exterior. The staff are sweet and I practised a little French while they found an English speaking person to accommodate us.

The counter had nice pleasant ladies behind it that couldn't speak much English, making it exactly what I was looking for: Local flavour. I ordered a cappuccino and butter croissant and boy oh boy was that good! That was the best croissant I've ever had! Just amazing and I get them fairly often. This was a clear standout with texture and flavour. And the coffee was great too. Looking around, I noticed everyone was settled in and comfortable in their spots. There were a couple retired gents reading the paper, as the line at the counter built somewhat with people who needed to get in and get out. The seating is fabulous! There are cushions and comfy spots everywhere, so nice! And in the back there was another large room that was somewhat secluded from the ordering area by the front. As I was enjoying my coffee, I noticed others having their breakfast which looked amazing from what I could see so I headed back to the counter. I was so happy with what I ordered! Wow so many types of fruit, all nicely arranged with the eggs and the bread omg so good! And cheap too! I left happy and wanted to linger longer but needed to hit the road. Went here when coming back from Quebec City to Montreal. It's a little bit out of the way, but I…read morehad seen a news article about these "canele" and just had to try them for myself. Canele are a custard/pastry concoction shaped like little jelly moulds/cups - sweet but not sickly. I'm not sure how else to describe it. I like them, and like most pastries they are best when fresh. That being said, you can buy them frozen here which means you can stock up and keep some for later. I'll be going to get some more next time I'm up that way, just because they're so different and you can't get them in many places (I haven't seen them anywhere else). The staff that were there only spoke French, but that's normal for Quebec City (and pretty much guaranteed outside of the old town area). It's really not a big deal, as it only takes a few words and gestures to get as many canele as you can carry.
