Do not move here!!! I've been here for over 2 years. The quality has dropped substantially but the tents are still climbing. They do great with putting up pictures and making it look like a great place to live. However, it's an absolute nightmare. They are constantly having issues with their pipes. They are constantly going through change of management in office staff, so nothing is translated correctly. They do you into using a flex system, and then claim they didn't get paid even though your bank transactions and flex transactions reflect on payments made. I didn't even want to sign up with Flex, but it was sent in an email saying they have a new pay system. They are really good at pushing off responsibilities on the past managers that are no longer there. Their pool has had human poop inside of it more than once. I've also on multiple occasions found transient I in the lobby, sleeping overnight, free of charge. It's sad being I pay an astronomical amount of rent for a one bedroom apartment. They have high school students staying here unattended so they can be able to be in the district. Those high school students appeared to be alone almost all night and possibly day. They have young people roaming the hallways all hours of the night. You can hear your neighbors moving around constantly. Their laundry facilities are always broken. There are Nats inside of my closet because the ventilation systems are terrible. The list goes on and on and on. Do not stay here. My stress level has gone up . I'm sure they are a perfect candidate for a class action lawsuit. I'm in the process of getting signatures because it's not a place that treats their tenants properly. Living at Ascent has been a rollercoaster. When moving in, I was greeted with a cockroach problem which required pest control to come out. This was initially resolved and the pest problem went away. The following week, the toilet burst during the night but at least plumping came out the following day. Unfortunately, the cockroach problem resumed a few months later resulting in pest control needing to come back out but unfortunately, it was not resolved and pests continued to appear. Recently, the water boiler in building 2 had a leak and this resulted in an uptick of cockroaches. Even after getting pest control a third time, they continued to appear to the point where I have to tape over the overflow drains in the sink and bathtub to avoid having them appear. They have been spotted in other parts of the apartment as well. Despite reporting these issues to management, there has been little communication or visible effort in resolving this pest issue. Additionally, there is no permanently assigned property manager at this moment. The previous manager was Keith Holger who was actually responsive, straightforward to schedule with, and work eith, but he is no longer with the company. As a result, it's frustrating and disgusting that so little effort or communication is frustrating. I would have reviewed this place higher but this ongoing pest issue is painful and disgusting. read more

The good: -All staff (property management and maintenance) are super friendly and helpful, though the management seemed a bit short-staffed at times. Probably par for the course with COVID I guess. -Great commuting location close to 405 and 605 with lots of restaurants and shops around. The bad: -Our unit was located next to the jacuzzi which gets SO LOUD at times. We had to turn the A/C unit in our toddler's room on some nights just to drown out the raucous partying that would go on late into the night. -Kitchens in townhome units are very small. -Wall A/C in only 2 of 3 bedrooms in our unit. -Our gray carpet was stained brown in many spots when we moved in. -The fan in our upstairs bathroom either was broken or ineffective--the room was always extremely muggy and growing constant mold. We put in a work order for this but they could not figure out the problem. -After moving out, we were charged $1005 for them to repaint our apartment due to a handful of small dings in the paint. I had to call to get more information about this charge, and was told that even though the imperfections were small they were unable to match the new paint to the old paint (seems like not my problem?) so they had to repaint the whole unit. They said they "prorated" the painting since the entire cost was over $3000. We are talking about literally ~5 little chips in the paint in one area, and it makes no sense to me that this would necessitate repainting the entire unit. Again, there were many brown discolorations in our carpet upon move in so I don't buy that they are just extremely concerned about keeping things perfect for the next tenant. It seems like these small dings would be considered normal wear and tear, however we just paid them to avoid having to deal with any annoying legal stuff. Additionally, we moved out 2 weeks early so they were able to clean and repaint before our lease was even supposed to be up, yet they did not take this extra free time into account when charging us ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS to repaint a few small chips. read more

I've lived in many apartments across NYC, SF and LA, and this was one of my favorites. We had the two bedroom with washer dryer, with a view of the pool and plenty of sunlight. (Not every apartment has this though) The master bedroom is huge and has a walk in closet. Bathrooms are a bit small but functional. Everything was newly renovated and lots of well designed closet space and drawer space (I just moved again and made me realize how well designed Ascent's closet space was!) Neighbors are nice and friendly. Management is responsive and professional, yet flexible and accommodating. Candice and Keith are the best! Also, my family really appreciates the free coffee/chocolate machine :) Would live here again if i had to rent in this neighborhood again! read more

I have lived here for 4 years and I used to love it. Whenever I had an issue Candice as always on top of it and made sure it was taken care of. She was the only one who really worked in the front office and she truly cared about the residents here and keeping them happy. Sadly she is no longer with the company since about 2 weeks ago and this place has gone to shit. No one is ever in the front office so if the residents need anything we're shit out of luck, they don't answer the phones and they don't respond to emails, the maintenance crew shows up whenever they want without notice so there's times I've been at work and they can't fix what I've needed done since I'm not home. I also reserved the room for the lobby for my babyshower and I am trying to make sure that they have it on file and someone will be there to make sure the door is unlocked, it's extremely frustrating for the residents especially ones who have lived here for quite some time, not to mention they are raising our rent to 2647 for a 2 bedroom without a washer dryer. Don't move here. I can't wait to leave. read more

If you are considering living here, please reconsider. Frankly I'm not sure how there are good reviews. It's the loudest,trashiest, most disruptive, over priced "luxury" apartment I've ever lived in. I lived thru nonstop construction throughout the year. Signed the lease based on managements promise that the construction "was almost done". It's still going. It's been nonstop noise and dust and a very unhealthy environment. The building is filled with termites (I've got video of them hatching in the hall) and pantry moths. The trash is always overflowing and stinking. They tried to give cheap poor construction a facelift and failed miserably. The units look nice but they are cheap as can be. The walls are so thin I can hear my neighbor snoring(very loudly). Certainly not the "luxury" they advertise. There is a constant turnover of management. They try to promote community events which I appreciate but it doesn't make up for their complete lack of resident care or respect. We endured living here for a year as they remodeled every unit on our floor- even tho the construction was "almost done" when we signed the lease. Then they had the gall to raise the rent on their unhealthy, overpriced unit. So needless to say we will be leaving. Please be aware they'll wow you with promises to make a their rental quotas but my advice: Avoid living here! read more

I lived in the ascent apartments for a year. While I liked my apartment, the jacuzzi wasn't maintained during the winter. They decided to re-landscape the place and tore out all the vegetation. It looked like a war zone and we were forced to live in dirt for months. My health suffered and my dog's skin was terrible! Also, my apartment balcony overlooked the parking lot and dumpsters which were always overflowing. It was unsightly and gross. These apartments are overpriced for the way the property is kept. Oh, and I moved out two months ago and still haven't got my deposit back. read more

Complete Bait and Switch My husband and I called about a two-bedroom and dealt with a leasing agent named Keith. We were told there were brand new two-bedrooms available that weren't on the website. Keith sent us some pictures of a first-floor version of the second-floor apartment he was talking about, as the higher floor was still being renovated. He also promised to send a video. (We weren't able to do a walk-through as we are relocating from far away.) We saw the photos and submitted applications and paid the requisite $75. Keith told us we were approved and if we put a hold on the place it was ours. He said he took a video but the WiFi wouldn't let him send it. We asked to video chat instead but were told that he wasn't allowed by company policy. We said that as soon as we saw the video, we would pay the hold fee. He said we should take care of it the next day (as it was late) but that he would send the video that night. The next afternoon, we called as we hadn't heard from or received the video. He said he would figure out a way to send the video in an hour. We never heard from him again. We called the office and emailed repeatedly to no avail. Finally, a few days later, we reached someone else in the office, who later said she was the manager. She said she would FaceTime with us after lunch and texted some photos. Strangely, these photos were of a different apartment! Then she mentioned - via text - that there WAS NO second floor apartment. She offered us a completely different apartment (smaller, worse view, NOT renovated) for a higher price! We called her and explained that we'd been talking to Keith and so forth. She said "oh, that place, yes, he rented that to someone else." When we complained about these sleazy tactics, she AGAIN tried to sell us the higher priced smaller apartment and repeated that application fees are nonrefundable. Given that accepting an application on an apartment that isn't available is blatantly illegal and unethical, my husband and I decided at that point that we were not going to deal with this company and longer. I can't say much about the apartment complex, since, of course, I haven't been there, but I can speak to some shady leasing and sales policies. Unfortunately, most leasing companies I have dealt with have been rather shady. That said, given my own experience in real estate, I can say that blatant scam tactics like a clear Bait and Switch and an unethical acceptance of an application fee are very troublesome. read more

I do not love this apartment complex. Let me count the ways: 1) Barking dogs at all hours of the night and day; 2) dog feces inside the property, 3) water frequently turned off for a day at-a-time; 4) frequent noise and noxious odors from remodeling; 5) management does not address tenants' concerns--corporate offices elsewhere control their ability to do so; 6) tenants moving in and out--no sense of permanency--this is an overt indication of tenants' unhappiness with units. Also, the itinerant nature of many occupants, who appear to be there only for a short period of time. This engenders an uncaring attitude about the complex and the well-being of their neighbors; 7) sky-high rent increases for no reason whatsoever; 8) false advertising of the "amenities" in the complex; 9) heavy theft of property with no concern or follow-up by management; 10) Ascent should change its name to Descent--if you choose to live here, be ready for a descent into an avaricious and unstable environment. No need to meet you neighbors, for certain, they won't be staying long; it's a transient population here. They can't keep tenants for long. And this is one tenant who is glad to move out of this uncaring complex. read more

We just moved in last month and we are absolutely loving it. The office staff, Candace and Erika, are both very nice and accommodating. The neighbors are all really nice and welcoming and you can't beat the area. There is a lot of great restaurants and shopping within walking distance. The neighborhood is extremely safe and quiet. We are renting a two bedroom townhome and it has tons of space and is updated and very modern. Everything in the unit is high quality. The complex has lots of nice amenities like a well equipped gym, jacuzzi, package lockers, free coffee, and nice community events. For Thanksgiving, they hosted a pie bar with hot apple cider. We also really enjoy how dog friendly the complex is. There is a good amount of street parking for guests. Rent isn't cheap but you are paying for a beautiful unit in an amazing neighborhood and so far it's been totally worth it. We are so happy to have moved here! read more

I can't say enough about the property management and maintenance people at Ascent Apartment Homes. The newly renovated units are absolutely beautiful and well constructed with many upgrades done with high quality materials. I viewed the property on a Tuesday and took occupancy on Friday! If that was not enough, the amenities are out of this world, the gym is open 24 hours and is ALWAYS CLEAN, nice pool with BBQ area/furniture, pet washing stations, package concierge system, and they will pick up your garbage daily from your front door!! The people in the community are also very nice and welcoming! My son and I are extremely happy here and look forward to calling this home for many years to come!! read more

Moved in to an apartment here one month ago as of a few days ago. The completely renovated unit is really nice and the complex is well maintained and quiet. We had a couple of minor issues but Candice and Erika in the office were very responsive about getting them resolved quickly. Looking forward to the all new fitness center and new pool furniture soon, and can't stress enough what a great area this complex is in. VERY safe, very convenient to good shopping and freeways. Yes, there is some construction going on as they renovate units one or two at a time, but I would hardly call it a 'full on construction zone'. (They observe standard rules/laws about construction hours so I'm at work anyway - only effect I've really noticed is some dust on my car) Based on the current staff and circumstances, I would definitely recommend this complex ! read more

The Apartments are not new, but they are well maintained. The windows are thin, but its So Cal, so the weather is not an issue. The Apartment Manager is nice, firm and up front, but fair, and nice. Maintenance is responsive. The grounds are well kept; plenty of nice plants everywhere. The neighbors are quiet, definitely not a fraternity/sorority setting. The best part is the neighborhood, wow, and the restaurants, wow, and the school district for the little ones, wow wow!!! Great place to live if you cant afford the $600k dollar homes. read more

Had to take matters into my own hands unfortunately because the communication was terrible, the care of my discomfort was extremely low and may never be resolved. Planning on moving soon. I've lived here for a year now and I'm really surprised there are negative reviews. This is by far the best apartment complex I have lived in and I've been renting for 10 years. I moved from out of state and had a very small time frame to get everything done and the management here (Keith and Candace at the time) were amazing at answering all of my questions via email/phone calls and getting all the paperwork ready ahead of time so I could just walk in and sign when I arrived. The unit I'm in is remodeled beautifully with no carpets and a washer/dryer in unit (perfect for cleaning with two small kids). The pool and gym are always clean and not too crowded. The package concierge and coffee machine in the lobby are so convenient. Everyone I've met here from the staff to management to other residents have been nothing but kind and courteous. They hold events like movie nights and holiday parties for the residents which is a nice way to enjoy some family time and get to know your neighbors/management team. I've only had two minor maintenance issues, but they were both responded to very quickly. Maybe I'm just in a really good unit (upstairs, corner unit), but I've never heard barking dogs or loud neighbors through my walls. There was some construction on the other units around mine, but it was only during normal work hours and didn't bother me at all. And of course, you can't beat the school district here. Rossmoor Elementary and park are both within walking distance and it's a beautiful residential area. read more

The "hot" tub is almost always not heated and sometimes the water smells???!!!! The ceilings leak and there are always water marks, the washer and dryers break down a lot and to top it all off, they just came up with a new way of paying your rent and get this, you have to pay $50 for the processing fee and $40 if you do autopay! Freaking ridiculous. They just want more and more money. Can't wait till our lease is up so we can get out of here. read more

Ive been living here at the Ascent Apartment homes for almost two years, and i would just like to say its been such a blessing! My personal experience has been fabulous. I came here in one of the hardest seasons of my life, and i have to honestly say, if it wasnt for Candace & at the time of my move in (Erika - she is no longer here), i dont know what i would have done! Candace, you are a GEM! Thank you for embracing both myself and my son with such big arms! This complex truly feels like family! I love all the ways you cultivate community, from movie nights, to holloween parties, valentine breakfast, little love notes to new guests and existing ones! You have really made this season of my life so much more wonderful! I love being here. If i need something, you guys are on it! I love my apartment and all the renovations that have been made. Very modern, and hip. I love inviting guests over to swim, or play in the game room. Everyone i have over, absolutly LOVES this place. My son and i not only love it here, but feel very safe! My son and his friends always love being able to grab hot chocolate from the lobby (seriously we love that machine!) Every resident ive had the privledge of getting to know, has been so wonderful! Not only that, but my son is now going to Rossmoor elemetary and we love seeing our neghbors from the complex in his classroom this year! so fun! We love being so close to school that we can walk. The neighborhood is beatiful and we love being able to walk everywhere! I have lived in apartments all over the world and I have to say this is one of my top places. It is a great community and there is so much in every direction all under a mile. Erika and Candace made my transition from the east coast great. They helped me do everything online and I rented site unseen. When I arrived I was so pleased. They were so helpful each and every day. Love the remodeled brand new place we moved into, my kids are a couple blocks from their school. The management in the office were amazing, friendly, helpful and so understanding with all of our needs. This place is completely overpriced for what you are actually getting. Everything looks beautiful when you first tour it and they claim the community is "quiet". However, they fail to inform you that there is construction Monday-Friday and it starts close to 8am. There is also construction on Saturdays, still early but not as early as during the weekday. Dogs pee and poop in the hallways and the residents don't clean it up. It smells like urine. Yes, this is the fault of the owners, but I do pay enough in rent for someone to come and spray and a regular basis and use a deodorizer. The cabinets chip and floor boards lift after only 2 months, and the front door has to be slammed in order for it to close appropriately. The two stars is because of the size of the actual apartment unit and the location. Seriously, do not move here. Move somewhere else where you might pay a couple hundred extra, but have an actual nice apartment. This place is comparable to a beautiful car with no engine. Absolutely disappointing and pointless. Also, Candice is nice and personable. Erica speaks to you as if you are stupid. She is extremely condescending. It's a shame. The building could be nice and worth it. read more

I've stayed in many apartments in California and elsewhere. These are better than most in California that I've stayed at. In particular, the management and staff are nice, reasonable people, and always available and helpful. They forbid drug use and loud parties in apartments, which I was glad to hear. This is a family apartment complex with everyone from little children to elderly folks who are trying to make their lives here, not a bar or fraternity house. The proximity to the supermarket and restaurants is handy. As I am picky about noise, I will take one star off for the basic design of the apartments, with apartments facing each other and no air conditioning (leads to apartments facing each other with open windows), and also sliding glass doors on the biggest room of both top and bottom floors that don't block any noise. It would be better if they replaced those with a type that blocks sound better. However, in terms of noise it was still better than the last three California apartments I stayed at. read more

I'd give this zero stars but the app won't let me . This complex WAS a wonderful place to live up until the building was sold at the beginning of the year. Upon learning of the sale things began changing around here quickly but secretly. A new resident manager took over and has been the most rude and condescending person to deal with. When asked if rent would be increased under the new management we were reminded, rudely, that the rent was well under that of local rentals. Of course we know this. This is why we are all here! A few of us were condescendingly told that we most likely wouldn't be able to afford the increase. Those of us who have lived here and loved this place are being treated horribly. They are remodeling the vacant units and are charging close to double what we are paying. The new units look nice but no way are they worth $2500. The buildings are still old... With cracks in the walls and ceilings. Granite, hardwood floors and crown molding doesn't cover up the age of the bones of the building. The saddest part is that there are many elderly people who have lived here over 20 years and now are being forced into the streets to find a new and affordable place. I am very aware that this is all business but it is also very shady. No notice on many things being done to the property and we are now being told to pay for water, trash and sewer... None of which was in our original rental agreement. Whatever you do... Look elsewhere to live. The rude resident manager is reason alone to stay away!!! read more
