The way she conducts calls as well as her intake form, is so thorough; you can tell that she really wants to get to know each couple, their story, and capture things perfectly (which she does!). Our engagement shoot was one of the most fun afternoon/evenings we had in planning our wedding. Ashley helped keep things light and fun for us even though we don't take pictures often and even included our dog! We loved the photos so much we ended up adding her to capture our Welcome Party too! Leading up to the wedding, Ashley was always the most responsive vendor (email, call, text) and had everything ready to go, all the time, and was always perfectly on time. Ashley is an amazing photographer and a truly wonderful person. She took the most beautiful photos of us at our wedding, which was no easy feat because we both hate having our picture taken. She was very good at helping us relax and embrace the moment. She used all her tips and tricks to get us to look natural in the amazing photos she captured. From the first meeting we had with Ashley, she understood our vibe. We didn't want to do an engagement photo shoot and instead of pressuring us to do that (like some other photographers did), she told us that she completely understood and gave us the option of her coming to our welcome party instead of an engagement shoot, which ended up working out incredibly well. She had never photographed at our venue before, but she made a point of making several trips to the venue prior to our wedding weekend to scope out the best places for photographs and talk to the wedding coordinator at the venue to make sure she knew all the best spots for photos. We were beyond elated to have Ashley as our photographer at our wedding! From the planning stages, Ashley was thoughtful about our whole timeline for the evening, and walked us through our photo choices (like whether to get sunset photos at the nearby beach, or closer onsite which would let us spend more time with our guests). She was so thorough with her timeline, we actually used her timeline over any created by our coordinators to plan our day. Ashley did such an incredible job putting us at ease and bringing out genuine moments of happiness between us, that she then captured beautifully. Both Ashley and her second shooter Morgan navigated through our many family members efficiently and in such a friendly upbeat manner. We had multiple family members and guests comment on how great our photographers were at directing groups for photos and being present everywhere there was a moment to capture. Beyond their photography role, Ashley and Morgan felt more like friends than vendors on our wedding day. They helped us pin our boutonnière, figure out a pocket square, and fashioned a tie clip from a bobby pin to keep the tie straight through the rest of the night. They thoughtfully brought a water bottle for us as we traipsed around the redwoods taking photos before our ceremony, and gave us snacks as they hid us in their car when guests were arriving at the ceremony site. As a queer couple, Ashley was the most conscientious vendor we worked with - from having neutral gender on her paperwork to picking up on the subtle cues of what language we used to describe each other, we felt incredibly accepted and comfortable with her. We were initially drawn to Ashley for her creative vision - we loved the way she managed to capture moments of emotion and her images highlighting the nature surrounding her subjects. Ashley was beyond amazing to work with for our engagement shoot at Bidwell Park. Leading up to the shoot, I was pretty nervous that my fiance and I would be awkward since we both tend to shy away from the camera. It's been well over 9 months since my husband and I had maternity photos done with AVH Photography and I STILL have people tell me how much they love our photos daily. I absolutely adore every photo Ashley took of us and was disappointed only by how difficult it was to decide which photos I liked best. Working with Ashley was so easy and fun. She made me feel beautiful in every pose and outfit, even with my ever-expanding size. Her sweet demeanor is perfect to work with the shy gents, as well. The artistry of her photography is really beautiful, too. She obviously knows how to work a camera and it's clear from her work that she loves what she does. Often photographers play too much with filters and the reality of the photos are lost.
