Think Twice! This company's policy is to get 90% of the money for a job "when half done". We were confused as to what their idea of "half done" really was. Our experience was once they got that 90% our project slowed down CONSIDERABLY. There was a tremendous lack of communication and we were given excuses as to why the project was extended well past the contract deadline. Workers were sent to other jobs and oftentimes we were left clueless as to why no progress was being made on our much needed in law addition. All the while our 80 year old handicapped family member was left to pay additional rent as the project dragged on. We were asked to be patient and understanding (which we were) only to have them literally harass us for the remaining 10 percent balance. We were bombarded with phone calls, rude voicemails and they even sent an employee to our house to "collect". After all that we received a letter from their attorney threatening that our invoice was going to collections for "interest" which was an additional $1200 added to what we owed for the final balance - because we did not pay them fast enough. We weren't even aware that the project was officially 'finished' either (nothing was signed off on). The highlight/joke of the entire experience was having the owner of the company come over to address a door that was not properly closing by scraping it with his pocket knife and then presenting my wife with an invoice (it still does not open/close properly; pics attached). Overall, the work was 'average'...do yourself a favor and find another local contractor other than this one. read more

90% paid and 2 years later and project still not complete! work started in 2019, collected 90% payment prior to COVID, and here we are almost 2 years later. A laundry list of items remaining, work I need to get fixed, a metal roof they took of they weren't supposed to that I have to replace. What a nightmare!! 60 days no response even after an attorney letter. Litigation it is. And - we sent links to appliances that would arrive within a week - so can't use 'material shortage' or any other excuse. I have emails and their responses for anyone that is interested. We hired Ashley Construction to complete a renovation of our basement. The job was quoted to take 5 weeks maximum. At the end of 4.5 months of us constantly hounding them and with holding partial payment until additional items were complete the job is finally finished. A fair amount of their work is spot on, but they have not been detail oriented and some of the final details were lacking. ~ They did not put a skirt of the stairs and then later used caulking that is bumpy and poorly done. ~ Patch work was done on a wall because an outlet was missed during drywalling, the repair work was poor sanded (if at all) before being repainted. ~ The floating laminate floor was installed without heeding the manufacturer's guidelines thus voiding the warranty and with small gaps that detract from the appeal (we're still waiting to see how it holds up). ~The building inspector was here several times and gave them a list of items to correct. They did not complete all items and so failed again when he was called. ~Large gaps of time went by when no work was done even though permits and inspections were in order. ~Communication on when they would be here and when work would be done was incomplete. ~ A drop ceiling was installed in the bathroom, but several of the ceiling tiles have holes in the corner where light comes through and it shouldn't. We weren't expecting perfection, but we were expecting a professional job done in a timely manner and that is certainly not what we got. Several years ago we had them put on a new roof and install a patio door. The price was right for both. They did a nice job on the roof and were clean and rather quick. The door was installed okay. The trim work could have been better, but it was passable. read more

Ashley repaired our retail store front after a car crashed into it. They started the job well before we even opened and, with their large workforce, were able to complete the repair in just one day. You can't even tell anything happened which is how a restoration should be. read more

A bathroom remodel job that was quoted to take 4 days is now going on week 3, still unfinished. There were issues with workers not showing up to begin with, and now it has been 4 days and no one has called us to come finish the job. The paint is sloppy. The walls are crooked and slanted. The sheet rock guys cut too much out of the spot where the receptical goes and no face plate fits on there. The closet that was built has no door on it. The holes in the floor for the vents were cut so small that no vent cover fits in them..so we just have 2 exposed holes on the floor. My antique desk that I had sanded and repainted that was in the basement must have been used as a work bench or something because it was gouged and scratched and I had to repaint it all over again. My electrical cord was taken, maybe by mistake but still..has not been returned. A brand new gallon of paint that I bought was taken outside to my shed for some reason and left there to get ruined by the heat. For two weeks trash and debris sat all over my basement. A piece of plastic was not hung up over the doorway so I am still trying to get all the dust out of my house. We called just about every day for the first two weeks making sure things were going to get done. Now after 4 days and no phone calls or contact from anyone, the job is still unfinished. Thankfully I have taken pictures of all of the things I mentioned above throughout this whole process. The only reason my boyfriend and I decided to go with Ashley construction is because they told us it would be done in 4 days. We had a deadline to be out of our condo and into our house but missed it over and over again because of the job not getting done. We are finally in the house but would really have loved to have it done properly and in a timely manner, and finished.... If you don't have enough workers to do multiple jobs at once, then don't over book. Because in the end it is the PAYING customer that suffers. Would never be able to reccomend this company in good faith to anyone. You would be better off doing the job yourself, honestly. read more
