Please be aware that, if you have an HMO, you may be charged out-of-pocket for your teeth cleaning,…read moreeven if your HMO says you're not supposed to be charged extra. You may also be charged a "sterilization fee." I suggest that you ask them about this before you make an appointment, so that you will know ahead of time and you won't be surprised. My experience is that this dental practice is hard to reach on the phone. I receive a busy signal most of the time. When I got through and told them about the busy signal, the receptionist told me that they only have two phone lines and that they're very busy, and that that's why I couldn't get through. But I don't understand why they don't route calls to voicemail when they are on another call. I think that every other business I interact with has a voicemail service instead of a busy signal. I had Deltacare HMO when I went to Dr. Ruby for a teeth cleaning back in February 2022. Dr. Ruby is one of the contracted HMO providers, and my plan benefits state that "prophylaxis" teeth cleanings are supposed to be at no charge to me. But I was charged out-of-pocket $6.00 more for the teeth cleaning, as well as a $7.00 "sterilization fee." I paid $13.00 out-of-pocket for a visit that I thought was supposed to be at no cost to me. I asked the receptionist about these charges, and she said that they always bill HMO patients extra out-of-pocket, because she said that they cannot be expected to work for the small amount of money that the HMO reimburses them. I called my insurance company, and they told me that the sterilization fee is allowed but that the extra charge for the teeth cleaning is NOT allowed. In my experience, other dentists do NOT charge a "sterilization fee" surcharge or an out-of-pocket teeth cleaning surcharge to Deltacare HMO subscribers.

Dr. Ruby is fantastic! He's incredibly kind, gentle and really provides exemplary service and care…read morefor the patient. He was done with my treatment before I even knew it began. Having had braces for several years as well as multiple extractions, I've become somewhat of a dental connesiuer and Dr. Ruby is the best I've had thus far! I would recommend him to anyone and everyone looking for a good quality dentist.

this place is awful, my mouth wasn't hurting before THAT dentist wne y poking around now a month…read morelater I have mouth pain one star will not come back

The customer service and care given to patients is lacking, My son was booked for a two hour slot…read morefor a crown and a filling starting at 1pm. We got there 30min early, filled out paperwork and then continued to sit there til 1:45 before they even got us into a room. My son made friends with a little boy in the waiting room whose mother signed him in right above our name, we came in at the same time. They put us in rooms at the same time side by side. Nurse came in, confirmed what he was in for, said she would let the doctor know he was ready. At 2:20 a nurse overheard my son and I conversing about how we were tired of waiting and were leaving in the next 5min, she stuck her head in and told us "the doctor is almost done. she's about to walk in right now." This is after I had asked where the bathroom was because my son made a statement that he had to pee again that they were taking so long. The dentist walks out of the room beside us and comes into our room about 5min later. She did the little boy's whole appointment DURING MY SONS SCHEDULED 2 HOUR APPOINTMENT TIME BLOCK! We literally had 35min left of our 2 HOUR APPOINTMENT BLOCK. It was 225 before she walked into the room! She proceeds with doing my sons first filling WITHOUT NUMBING!!! She didn't even use the pink numbing cream, nothing! When he complained she would just state "I'm almost done! you're doing so good!" Then when she was done 10min later she was acting like we're done, taking her gloves off, sitting my son back up and I asked "what about the crown?" and she said, "this was a filling only appointment." To which I immediately responded with, "no ma'am this was a 2hr appointment slot so he could get a crown AND a filling." She huffed annoyed, put gloves back on and looked in his mouth then said "yeah, I can do it in 15min if you want." "Yes, ma'am that would be nice, we came all this way from Hawkins and I don't know when we will be back in Tyler." Mind you, we still had 20min left on our 2hr appointment slot, if she had the time why not just do it? Why ask? She then started numbing my son(finally) and looking at the x-rays and stated that she thinks we can just make it a filling instead of a crown. I said something along the lines of, "that's great, just do whatever needs to be done." Near the end, my son was starting to make noise, move, trying to grab the dentist, and tell the dentist and nurse that he was feeling pain. Twice within minutes of each other he said he was in pain, groaning and moving and twice she said "Oh its okay honey i'm almost done!" Then continued to DRILL INTO HIS TOOTH for another 5min without giving him any more numbing meds. During our appointment there were sticky notes being put on the window of our door for the doctor. Basically trying to hurry her along. One said that there was a client in chair 3 ready for hygiene. 10min later the note was changed saying there were two clients ready for hygiene and a 2nd note was put up about another client that was ready in room 4. So while waiting forever(3/4 of our appointment time slot), we received SUBPAR care while there, then felt like our appointment was being rushed once we finally got the dentist in the room. WE WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN! And this isn't the first time we've been there and had a super long wait time. They don't seem to get in a hurry at all. They get the treatment plans mixed up all the time. Last appointment he was SUPPOSED to get two crowns and only got one. Appointment before that he was supposed to get two fillings and they just did a cleaning. So besides waiting over an hour just to get back in a freezing cold room to be ignored for another half hour, they don't get in a hurry, they will absolutely HARASS you for appointment confirmations. They'll send you a text to confirm, then call you 3x a day leaving messages to call and confirm but don't answer the phone when you call back and when you do leave a message it's never received. IF you do end up getting someone to answer the phone, you are usually put on hold first. This place is ridiculous! Then find awful reviews on facebook's 'Tyler, Rants, Raves, and Recommendations' group where there is a thread of nothing but distraught parents complaining about this place. Find a new dentist! This place is awful! We are NEVER coming back and we'll be warning everyone to stay clear!
