When I got to the hotel to check in…read morethe front desk told me they didn't have a room I booked available but they had another one but I'd have to pay more for it. I told her I wasn't paying more because I already reserved a room at a set price. She was probably 16 years old so I won't mention her name but she got an attitude real quick. I already suspected she was going to because when she saw me come in and I asked to check in she was already rolling her eyes. I asked for a manager and she said there wasn't one there. When I said I'll take a refund instead she said she couldn't do it and she would have to call her manager. I told her to do it and called her an asshole because she was being so rude. She told me to "GET OUT!" which I told her not before I got a refund. Surprise her manager, Gladys, comes down and cancels the hold on my card. Thankfully that was an option. The manager was patient which I appreciated but I don't think a child should be working front desk at a hotel. It absolutely ruined my night.

(2018) On the downside, nothing against this place, but it is a sad testament to how small the county fair has gotten because the fairgrounds has several buildings sitting empty that once housed the animals at the fair. Horse barns that once housed racehorses to run at Garfield downs. A 4H building that once housed overflow because the Hoover building was bursting at the seems with flowers and artwork. Even the grandstands loom in the distance, once home to the Enid Speedway. Even the little go cart track was closed and dismantled, due to rising insurance costs, teamed with town apathy. The race track no longer roars on weekends. The 4H building rents out to reunions and large meetings, as does the Hoover building. Animals no longer lounge in hay in the 6 buildings lined up next to the pavilion. Horses haven't raced on the track for decades. Even the softball fields sit empty where young baseball and softball players yearned for greatness. So, as much as I enjoy the venues inside the Expo center, I also sigh and wistfully reminisce about the days where the fairgrounds sprawled, full of life and fun.
