IIn the immediate after-glow of wedded bliss, I gave Ashley a 5 star review. Now, almost 4 years later, I can see things more clearly and I was way too generous. To be honest, I'm pretty disappointed in my wedding photos. They're artistic and there are a lot of candids of wedding guests (like we wanted) but there are pretty much no good pictures of my husband and I where you can actually see both of our faces clearly, with no heads cut off (she cut his head off in 90% of the photos and he's not abnormally tall or anything). We decided recently to maybe frame a few of our wedding photos since we spent all that $ and when we were looking for options, we realized we had none. If I looked great in one, his head was cut off. If he looked great in one, I was sort of blurred out and fuzzy (intentionally I guess). Like I said, they're creative. But there are basically NONE that captured us looking terrific on our wedding day. Terrific scenery, terrific flowers, pretty cupcakes, nice shots of my dress or me having makeup applied, cute flower girl shots, some distant full length shots of us, a nice picture of me dancing with my dad etc. But not one good , close-up picture of me and my husband together. it makes me sad. read more

We wanted to work with Ashley within minutes of meeting her. She has a great personality and is professional without being overly serious or stuffy. Photographs are pricey, but the $$ spent was probably one of the best things we invested in for the wedding. As part of our package, we were able to have a complimentary engagement session, which was quite helpful as it got us comfortable with being photographed, and also familiar with her style. On the wedding day, as many folks have attested, there were times I had no idea she was even there, yet she managed to capture many subtle moments and details that I was so pleasantly surprised to see. When I was aware of her, it was never invasive. She puts people at ease and her photographs are stunning. I cannot tell you what a great investment we made - we have had so many compliments on our photos, I feel that the prices is worth its weight in, well, the photographs we will have forever! read more

photography was super important to us in planning our wedding (wedding was in Sept 2011). after lots of research and after meeting one other really great photographer, we met ashley. to echo the other reviewers, we loved her immediately! we came out of the meeting super excited and signed the contract that night i think. hiring ashley o'dell photography was the best decision of the wedding planning process! a few things that stand out about her and her work - - she's SO incredibly talented! and just plain awesome to work with! - having shot other weddings at our venue, she still found some amazing ways to capture our wedding in a unique way and to create images where you can really feel the energy of the day. we could not be happier with the collection of images. it's so very cool to see them printed and to have these beautiful prints (including the ones of us, the city skyline shots, and other creative, interesting ones) hanging on the walls! our walls are sort of covered in ashley o'dell originals. - she was really organized and flexible and offered great suggestions. we talked ahead of time about the exact schedule and about any specific shots we wanted. the time before the wedding was mainly spent doing shots with just the 2 of us and we did some traditional formals with family as well. she made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera! a wedding guest even used a picture she caught of them for the image in their own save the dates! - engagement shoot - we hadn't originally planned to do an engagement session, but since i don't think of myself as photogenic, we decided to do it. and that was another great decision! it was so much fun and it's nice to have some pictures of us in 'regular clothes' where we look amazing. and i didn't have 'crazy eyes' at all! again, she made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera and took super creative shots where we both look great! i cannot say enough good things about the entire experience! so, just hire her! :) read more

As i have told many friends, meeting and hiring Ashley O'Dell as our wedding photographer was the BEST decision my wife and I made last year. And clearly, I've been meaning to write a review since then. :) As I'm writing this, I'm looking at not one, but two, AMAZING shots that Ashley O'Dell took, that are hanging on my living room walls. They are SO beautiful! We both feel so lucky to have been able to work with Ashley! She is incredible! When my wife and I were looking through our gallery, we literally were freaking out over pretty much every shot in there...all our wedding guests agreed she is ridiculously talented! As many others have said, not only does Ashley have an unbelievable talent at capturing unique, interesting, GORGEOUS images, she is also just a wonderful person. From our first meeting through our engagement shoot to carefully going over details pre-wedding to our wedding day, Ashley made us feel so comfortable, and was just an extremely fun photographer to spend time with (while being a complete professional). As a wedding photographer myself, the photographer was clearly the most important vendor I would hire at my wedding. Upon meeting her, Ashley was the obvious choice. She IMMEDIATELY put us at ease, and not only captured our personalities, but put an artistic spin on our images. We have MANY candid images throughout the day, but also a lot of really beautiful "posed" images. Ashley was very good about directing us, in that she offered suggestions on where to put our hands, where to look, how to stand, etc. We needed this direction from time to time, as neither of us were used to being in front of the camera! Almost FIVE years later, my husband and I AND 3 year old daughter STILL enjoy looking at our images. We have many of them hanging throughout our home - including a 30x45 canvas print of my husband and I hanging over our bed. Our daughter looks at it almost daily and points to it and says "that's mommy and that's daddy at their wedding." As soon as we saw Ashley's photos, we knew we wanted her to document our wedding. We couldn't have been happier with Ashley and with our photos. Ashley is very professional (despite the foot of snow we got that day, Ashley was on time) yet casual, which seems paradoxical, but is ideal for a wedding photographer. We had an intimate wedding with just with just 10 people and Ashley's presence was comfortable and unobtrusive. We met Ashley because she shot our friends wedding. We LOVED the photos, so when they gave us a shoot with Ashley for our new baby, we were psyched. We are not disappointed. Hire her. Seriously. You cannot do better for your wedding photos, especially because she has really reasonable packages for photos that match the work of wedding photographers costing twice as much. We could not have been more ecstatic with our experience hiring Ashley. We first came across her work on StyleMePretty.com, and knew we wanted to have her do our wedding - her photos were colorful, and full of life and action (which was a nice change of pace from the also-lovely vintage style that is pretty big right now, in 2012). Working with Ashley was not only easy, but fun, and we really enjoyed both our engagement session (done at an old arcade and park up in Salem MA), and the time taken on our wedding day for photos (she came before the ceremony to do first look photos and wedding party photos, and hustled through our post-ceremony formals so we could get to the cocktail party). Impressively, we didn't even notice Ashley taking photos most of the time, nor did our guests - she is so great at blending in and being unobtrusive while still capturing everything. However, most importantly, the photos were amazing. She has a masterful way of making the photos from our wedding look interesting without losing the fact that the photos were of us and our friends. Scheduling, payment and communication were all easy and painless, and frankly, for a top tier photographer, her prices were extremely reasonable. She also did a great job with our albums. Overall, I can't imagine having hired a better photographer, and I'm so glad that she was able to capture the memories from our wedding that we will have when everything else has faded. We can't begin to express how amazing it was to work with Ashley. Choosing her as our photographer was by far one of the best decisions we made during the entire wedding process! Ashley is so easy to work with, so responsive and SO talented. She made every moment fun and our entire bridal party and family commented on how great she was.
