My fiance and I got engaged in Boston so we thought it would be fun to get our engagement pictures taken in Boston as well. The only problem was we didn't know any photographers...Thanks to Yelp and Google we were able to find Heather. We are from Pennsylvania so we had a long distance relationship until the day we met Heather for the pictures. Heather was great from day one, she made everything so easy for us and we couldn't have asked for more. Heather was easy to work with and she made us laugh from the first photo to the last. She was very professional and is truly an artist. We visited numerous locations throughout Boston and it was a great time. We will never forget Heather laying in the middle of an intersection with cars honking just to get that perfect picture of us. During the pictures, Heather was giving us great food recommendations for our visits to Boston but we didn't have a chance to write them all down. So about 20 minutes after we left Heather we received a text listing every restaurant we had spoke about from her. We ended up going to one of her suggestions for lunch that day and it was delicious! Everyone loves Heather, for good reasons! For me, its all about the results. My wife and I hired Heather to shoot our wedding on August 1st this year, and we couldn't have been happier with the outcome. Our friends and family are constantly commenting on their love for our pictures! My post-wedding update on Heather: my fiancé and I had a "Yelp wedding" (found a lot of our vendors on Yelp), and Heather was an amazing find! Her price can't be beat and she provides clients with full-size non-watermarked images, which is rare in wedding photography these days. She shot our wedding on May 30th in Harvard Suare, and working with her was a breeze: she came to my apartment to take photos of me getting ready, while the second photographer she brought with her went to my husband's hotel room to capture him getting ready with his groomsmen. I love seeing those photos of moments before we even saw each other! We combined Hindu and Christian traditions in our ceremony, and she took shot after shot of my henna, all the saris, clothes and food so that we can relive our wedding through the details that are hard to remember once the day flies by. Heather Parker photographed our destination wedding in Newport Rhode Island at Oceancliff Resort. We really wanted to have a photojournalist for our wedding. Heather was on the higher end of the spectrum, but the splurge was well worth it, since we have a set of photos that tell the story of our wedding day that we will treasure for years to come. All the other reviews are from years ago, but when I spoke with Heather, she came off as rude and almost as if I was bothering her. All my questions were answered with snarky come backs and even a couple inappropriate laughs from her. As a new bride, I'm trying to navigate this and it was off putting to be met with attitude. In planning our wedding, photography was one of the most important aspects to me, I knew the day would go by in a blur, we had elected not to have a videographer, and I, myself, am an avid enthusiast of beautiful photography - so an exceptional partner to cover this critical detail was a must. As such, I had spoken with over 20 photographers when I finally came across Heather Parker - I LOVED her editorial / photo-journalistic style and her rates seemed reasonable in comparison to other photographers I'd interviewed. From day one, Heather was attentive, professional, insightful, and passionate about her work and our wedding. She went above and beyond for us at every turn - from an engagement shoot in Chicago (where we were living at the time, though scheduling our wedding in my hometown of Boston), to proactively joining us for our walk-through at the venue and snapping a few pictures for me to reference while I planned the wedding from afar, to reminding me to eat during the reception. During the ceremony Heather even managed to get pictures of me walking down the aisle and then ran all the way around the church to the side to capture a photo of my father lifting my veil - without even the slightest disturbance... I'm still trying to figure out how she did that! She did the work of three photographers and made it all look so easy! Heather provided us with our wedding pictures promptly on schedule (within 8 weeks of the wedding) - in Black & White and color, on DVD, with no watermarks; a service that I have come to understand is rare - (Many photographers retain the pictures for 6 months to a year before handing them over to the clients, forcing the newlyweds to purchase images from a third party site in the meantime). Heather does all of these things because she genuinely loves what she does and is exceptionally good at it. Heather did our engagement photo shoot and it turned out better than I could ever hope for. We weren't familiar with how photo shoots go (posing etc) and she made it very easy for us to be comfortable and act natural. If you just go with her suggestions you cannot go wrong! We originally hired Heather to complete our engagement photographs in Boston, MA in our neighborhood, Fort Point. What a wonderful early Christmas present we got this morning as we were able to spend hours looking through our wedding photos. Heather photographed our wedding last year. She was very professional and helpful on our wedding day. We had planned to take pictures in Copley Square but being summer it turned out there was an event going on that day that we hadn't planned for. She was quickly able to find us another spot to take photos and they turned out beautifully. Her prices are fair and the photos came out great. We got married in July and we received our photos in October. My only complaint is that you don't get to see any photos until the online gallery is ready. I've seen other photographers that post seek peeks or photos on Facebook shortly after the wedding, which I think would've been nice. read more

Heather recently photographed the wedding of my son and Daughter-In-Law. Her work was absolutely phenomenal. A few months in advance of the wedding she took a number of photographs of my son and his fiancé for what I call an "engagement shoot" and while I assume that she gave them ideas of locations and poses, unless you were there when the photographs were taken you would never have known that these were in any way posed. When I first saw the "Engagement photos" I initially thought that Heather was just passing by and found a good-looking couple and took some photographs for her own collection. One would never know that these were in any way posed or placed. Upon learning that these were taken as a part of the entire Wedding Collection I then assumed that since these were shot under a controlled environment that the wedding photographs would never match the quality, candor and mood of the "engagement shoot." I was never more wrong in my life. When Heather first emailed us a "tease" to let us know that the Wedding photographs would soon be completed and ready for viewing, I immediately knew that we were in for a very special treat. Just looking at the 15 or 20 photographs that she released early, it was at that point I realized that this young lady possesses a very special talent for her art. While every wedding has its posed photographs of the wedding party, the bridesmaids, the groomsman and the other "mandatory" family photographs Heather made sure that these were done very quickly and without an enormous group of people standing around for hours waiting to have their one photograph taken with the Bride and Groom. Heather made sure that the "expected" photographs were taken very quickly without sacrificing quality. As I have now had the chance to review all of the photographs taken from the "engagement" and the Wedding shoot, I realize that while managing to preserve the solemnity of the wedding ceremony as well as the celebratory atmosphere of the party that followed, Heather managed to capture the entirety of the event from beginning to end. Not once did she her interrupt anyone no matter what they were doing to pose them for photographs, yet through her photographs she has woven a story of this young couple before the wedding, on the day of the wedding before the ceremony, the ceremony itself and the party after they were formally married. She managed to capture the quiet tender moments of reflection as well as the sheer joy of the family and friends as they celebrated the newlyweds. During the wedding ceremony as Heather was quietly moving around the room unnoticed to make sure that every moment and every angel of the ceremony was captured. Numerous guests were taking flash photographs of the happy couple. This presents a special challenge to the "official photographer" as another flash going off at the same time as hers will often result in a change in the light settings and can take a wonderful photograph and ruin it because of too much light or not enough light. Additionally, during the ceremony, the person officiating over the wedding asked that ALL flash photography cease until the ceremony was over. When this happened Heather was standing just a few feet from me. So not only was she now confronted with numerous guests taking flash photographs, she now had to manage to take the essential photos that she wanted without using her own flash. It would have been very easy for her to stop taking photographs of the ceremony and blamed it on the "Flash" issue. Instead, she somehow managed to take all of the photographs that one would want of the ceremony and never said a word about the inability to use a flash. I this summary sounds like I think that Heather did a good job of photographing this wedding your would be in error. I believe that her work was extraordinary. She not only captured the wedding from an artistic viewpoint, but also from the guest's point of view. I can look back at these photographs and feel like I am re-living this wonderful event. It is for all of the above reasons, that without any reservation, I recommend Heather Parker to anyone who wants any occasion photographed by someone who will capture the event with photographs that you will want to look through over and over again. read more

Heather Parker was recommended to us by our wedding venue in a list of other photographers. After checking out all of their online portfolios, Heather's work was the clear stand-out. I was particularly drawn to her use of color and composition, but what really set her apart was her ability to capture real moments. Her photography is stunning, and it avoids many of the cliches associated with wedding photography. My fiancé and I met her for coffee before deciding if we wanted to hire her. In person, she was unassuming, funny, and I immediately felt comfortable around her. After that initial meeting, there was no question that we wanted to book Heather. I feel like Heather took the time to get to know me and my fiance, and I can see that in our wedding photos. From that first meeting, to our outdoor engagement photoshoot, to the actual wedding day, we spent more time with Heather than with anyone else who worked with us on the wedding.
