Their delivery suck! They were very deceptive and tried to leave me with a drawer on my bed off track. After fixing it, I was left with scratches on the bed and they refused to come fix it because I didn't notice it before the workers left. Well if you saw how 2 workers were standing in the small space on the side of the bed there was no way all 3 of us could have fit so I couldn't directly recheck the furniture. I reported the scratches less than 2 hrs later and had to call back several times before getting a decision about 10 days later. I was warned about Ashley's Furniture but I took a chance anyway. Recliners we bought have been worked on 3 times in the past 2 months. They keep breaking when you recline back. They are cheap made. We had to take off from work all 3 times to get them fixed. We just sold them in a yard sale for $50.00 each. It's bad when you take a $1600 loss because you tired of getting them fixed. The store is not good on customer service. Sales associate was very helpful and polite. Issue was with the GM or Financial Manager (not sure of her title). I selected a bed and sectional that totaled $3500. They tried to charge me $5400. I asked for confirmation and was then told $5200. I then asked for a print out of what items were selected and the price for each. They would not provide the print out and then came back to me after much discussion and said "well give you the on line price and throw in protection and the total will be $3900 with taxes and delivery. It sure appears that something sketchy was going on. Lastly, on the delivery date, they cancelled delivery and never notified me or responded to phone calls. Worst Ashley Store ever. Our experience at Ashley in Tuscaloosa on Skyland Blvd. has caused us to come to the conclusion that the store should be closed. Even though our contract clearly stated free delivery, we were told they could not deliver it because it was too far. When we purchased the items, Ty, our salesperson, assured us it would be delivered to our new house. We were told by the store manager that if they delivered it, the cost would be astronomical, and we just needed to hire someone to come and get it. But wait. It was not in stock. But yes, it was, but no, it wasn't... We asked them to cancel the order and we would go to a store that could deliver. Then, we were told the cancelation fee would be in excess of 650. 00! This is a "restocking" fee. But wait, how can you restock something that was not in stock! I have sent an email to lmarks@ashleyalabama.com, who is the owner of the store, with this complaint. I wouldn't ever shop at Ashley's furniture store in Tuscaloosa. Said it would be a month until delivery for the table and chairs. But then on the printed paper it said it would be 4-6 months. Got it in 3 months though. They already have negative reviews about this. They even forgot to send the hardware with all of it. Now I have to wait even longer. I would recommend shopping some where else in town instead of there. They aren't even connected to the main corporate office of Ashley's furniture. read more

I was shocked that items in the store were advertised as a good quality wood , but furniture what been delivered made of carton. The quality was even worse then IKEA, but more expensive. . I had to tell a sales lady several times that I just wanted to look around. She literally stalked me around the store. Horrible overall experience at this location. The moment I walked in the door I felt like I was buying a used car. The sales associate acted like a vulture circling road kill, asking me if I had any questions about every product I looked at. I told her I was just browsing, not buying today and she was annoyingly relentless. After returning at a later date, we made a purchase. We were given a specific date for pickup and surprise, our furniture did not arrive as promised. We were told it was in the warehouse in Bessemer and we could go pick it up or wait another 8 days to get our furniture. Worst customer service with the worst management. Called corporate and filed a complaint. Good bye Ashley, we won't be doing business together in the future. On a side note, we also shopped Spiller Furniture and made a purchase. Was hired to help sell furniture at this location. Pre-screen drug test showed cannabis and the tester confirmed it was prescribed for a necessary medical condition from a credible physician. I get a call from their corporate office and told me I can't work there "because we don't hire drug addicts". I explained to her that in California it's legal and I'm under a prescription for my life-threatening illness. She got even more attitude and made me feel horrible for being a patient. We ordered our furniture at the end of June and were told that it would be there in two weeks. We got a call saying it wouldn't be delivered until August 9th! The manager never offered to refund the delivery fee or do anything for the inconvenience. Then, the couch was delivered to our house last night and it was damaged! It is in horrible condition. Ashley furniture is so inconsistent!! I enjoyed my shipping experience but when it came time to deliver they kept changing my delivery date. I took off work twice for them not to show up or even call. I had to keep calling them! My son who is in college in Tuscaloosa purchased furniture there and had a very similar experience with delivery so I should have known. But the sales woman was so pleasant and nice I gave them another chance. I spoke with the manager who told me they use a third party vendor for delivery. I'm sorry but that's not my problem! Ashley should use a more dependable vendor because the buck stops with them. I didn't purchase with their vendor. I will never purchase from Ashley furniture again EVER! Went in at the beginning of June with a STRICT set date of delivery for August the 3rd since I would be moving into a brand new unfurnished apartment. We called the store regularly to make sure that the delivery was still scheduled for the August 3rd date. 3 days before delivery, my mother called and was redirected to Ashley's shipping warehouse and was told directly over the phone that the August 3rd delivery date was NEVER an option and that our couch had been on back order and would leave the warehouse on August the 24th, now here I am living in a brand new apartment with NO furniture after being promised a set delivery date by the manager, and floor sales rep. Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. We even offered to buy the same specific couch off of the sales FLOOR and we were given a hard no because it was a "big selling item for the store the week of Labor Day." Labor Day is a month out. If I could give this place -1000 stars I would. The manager made no attempts to correct the mistakes made and gave us NO reassurance that we would even receive our couch at all before September! Go somewhere else to make your furniture purchases. The store is fine. The customer service department is as lousy as they come. I would give them a minus zero. I made a purchase which had a one year warranty. The love seat broke and they are refusing to honor the warranty. I contacted their customer service department which gave me the run around. First they didn't answer. I called right back, someone answered and hung up. On the third attempt I finally spoke with someone. They set up an appointment for a tech to come out. Before, anyone set the appointment up I had to send pictures. Ashley had a tech from Furniture Engineers come out and attempt to fix the love seat but, she couldn't. The tech stated it couldn't be fixed and she would inform Ashley. I asked what was the problem and she stated it was a factory defect that the screws weren't screwed all the way in causing poor support. After almost two weeks and no communication from Ashley I called customer service and again played phone tag before I got anyone. I explain that the tech had been out and what she stated to me. She said she would forward my info to the manager. Within 20 minutes the customer service person called back and asked me to state what the tech had told me. I repeated and then she stated the repair tech had stated that the damage was the customers fault. The tech didn't bother to mention the info about the console and screw that had fallen from under the seat. She stated she would add what I said to the tech reports. Their department manager denied my claim. I asked to speak with the manager and I was told they would send her an email. I never heard from this manager. I called back and repeated the same procedure and to no avail. I don't understand why the manager want contact me and removed the file from the computer. I have also tried to contact this company who sent out the tech. They don't answer the phone nor their emails. I was given the owners cell number, it goes to voice mail which is full. I have made several purchases from Ashley and there was always a problem. They did fix the other problems although one took almost a year. Because of the Customer Service Department I would rate them a minus zero. I find it amazing that you can't speak with department managers. Even if you want to contact someone higher in ranks you need to send an email. Whatever has happened to good ole common customer courtesy?
