The night that we went, they had a DJ playing, which added another level to the vibes. This seems like a versatile spot, good for both larger groups or intimate dinners. My friend and I started our meal with the soft shell crab bao buns. These were perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. I highly recommend. For our mains, we split the Korean fried chicken, duck breast burnt ends, baby bok choy, and Japanese sweet potato. Every single thing we had was tasty! The chicken was perfectly fried and seasoned. The duck breast was cooked well, and the sauce was a perfect complement. My favorite item was the Japanese sweet potato comes topped with white miso and black sugar better. The flavors melded together so perfectly and the potato was savory. The presentation at the table was also interesting. In addition to the food, we each ordered a couple of cocktails. Both the funky monkey and Pyro drinks were well made, with another great table presentation when served. While there was a rowdy party next to our table that annoyed us, the food, drinks and service from beginning to end more than made up for that. I highly recommend stopping here for a meal and some drinks if you ever find yourself in Mexico City.

The inside is cozy with low lighting. Their menu offer a variety of Asian cuisines from Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Thai, etc. We picked a few items to share: - Vietnamese-style beef carpaccio: a good citrus flavor in the sauce, topped with cashew. Overall good as an appetizer to start off with. - Shanxi noodles with tamarind and coconut chicken: this was our least favorite. The sauce in the noodles was very salty. I couldn't eat it after the first bite. - Tobiko rice: it had shrimp, roasted corn, spicy yuzu mayo, and tobiko. Pretty solid and nicely balance. - Sesame octopus: I like the mashed potatoes that came with it. Octopus had a lot of flavors and good texture. - Saigon style red snapper: wok fried red snapper. Crispy and the seasoning was good on the snapper. Pretty good with a nice citrus red cabbage salad that came with it. - "Chilango" (5 pan fried dumplings): their Mexico-city style dumplings. It had beef confit in the fillings. This was alright. Would prefer for it to be more crispy on the outside. We also tried their ice thai tea, beer, lemonade, and jasmine tea, however did not like the drinks. It felt a bit water-downed and too light. Service was friendly and quick. It wasn't too crowded during dinner time when we were there.

Not many places open late at night and I dont think it was even that late but there were not many places open and this restaurant only had a few patrons counting us. We order udon and a combo sushi because they had buy one get one free combo or something. The seafood udon I ordered had so much seafood in it, it was great, and it had a very yummy umami fire grilled or wok fired flavor. Staff was super friendly. I would recommend if you crave sushi and udon or ramen.

It's definitely Asian fusion, offering everything from Japanese (including sushi) to Chinese to Thai. I almost always order the spring rolls and sweet and sour sauce (vegetable or beef). The wonton soup is quite good as well. I usually change up my main dish and never leave disappointed. I can vouch for the rices, the woks, and the yakitoris. You can also build your own wok. The menu is enormous. If you can't find something here you like, I probably wouldn't want to go out to eat with you. This location is just steps from the Palacio de Hierro, a high-end mall in Polanco. If you want to escape its overpriced, overcrowded food court, come here instead.

I'd heard a lot of great things about Galanga (and read about it in the Michelin Guide), and because of that - and because it's vegan-friendly for my vegan mom - I chose it for one of our evenings in Mexico City. Unfortunately, the meal just didn't live up to our expectations. The restaurant is beautiful and very comfortable. But when we arrived, we were told that they were out of many things on the menu - not one dish, not two - I'd say about 8 items on the menu, including most of the dishes we were most excited to try. Ultimately, we ordered a raw scallop dish, vegan Pad Thai, and Pad Kra Pao. I enjoyed the raw scallop dish - spicy and fresh - but the other two dishes were fine (flat and maybe not as expected - the Pad Kra Pao, for example, wasn't made from ground beef but from chunks of beef that weren't the most tender but weren't bad). I also had a cocktail that was quite nice - lots of coconut and tropical flavors. The other main issue we had was with the service during our meal. While our server was extremely friendly, the service was chaotic. They brought a dish to our table that we said we hadn't ordered. They left it at the table anyway, so we figured whatever, we'll eat it. We'd had a few bites and then they came back and said we'd been right, that we hadn't ordered it, and took it away, which was strange, since they couldn't serve it to the correct table now anyway. We had to ask for another bottle of water several times - it never came, so we kept asking. We finally got one after asking three times, I believe. It seemed like the staff or kitchen were having a very off night, and that happens. But when a place is recommended by the Michelin Guide, you just expect a little more. Our experience at Galanga reminded me of trying out a restaurant that has been open for a week or two and is still in its soft opening and figuring things out. In a city with so many great restaurants, I just can't imagine I'd return, nor could I recommend it to friends that visit Mexico City. They might have just been having a tough night, but it was perhaps the most disappointing meal I've had over three trips to Mexico City.
